ਜਦੋਂ ਦਾਊਦ ਸਿਕਲਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਇਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਲੁੱਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਿੱਤਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਕੁਝ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਵੇਖੋ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਲ ਦੀ ਲੁੱਟ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇਹ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਸੁਗਾਤ ਹੈ।”

ਫ਼ਿਰ ਨਅਮਾਨ ਤੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਟੋਲੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕੋਲ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਮੁੜ ਆਏ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਅਲੀਸ਼ਾ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਖਲੋ ਕੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਵੇਖ! ਮੈਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਸਿਵਾਏ ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਵੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਇਹ ਭੇਂਟ ਸਵੀਕਾਰ ਕਰ।”
੧ ਤਵਾਰੀਖ਼ 12:1
ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਬਹਾਦੁਰ ਸੰਗੀ ਇਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੂਚੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਿਕਲਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਾਊਦ ਕੋਲ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ। ਇਹ ਉਹ ਸਮਾਂ ਸੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਦਾਊਦ ਕੀਸ਼ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਲੁਕਦਾ ਫ਼ਿਰਦਾ ਸੀ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਲੜਾਈ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ।
ਜ਼ਬੂਰ 35:27
ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕੀਂ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਚੰਗਿਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਵਾਪਰਨ। ਮੈਂ ਆਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਲੋਕ ਬਹੁਤ ਖੁਸ਼ ਹੋਣਗੇ। ਉਹ ਲੋਕ ਸਦਾ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, “ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਮਹਾਨ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਨੌਕਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਭਲਾਈ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।”

ਉਹ ਉੱਪਰ ਉੱਚੇ ਪਰਬਤ ਉੱਤੇ ਗਿਆ, ਕੈਦੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਟੋਲੇ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ, ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਸਮੇਤ ਸੁਗਾਤਾਂ ਲੈਣ ਲਈ ਗਿਆ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਮੁੜ ਗਏ ਸਨ। ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਉੱਥੇ ਉੱਪਰ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਗਿਆ।
ਅਮਸਾਲ 18:16
ਇੱਕ ਸੁਗਾਤ ਆਦਮੀ ਲਈ ਬੂਹੇ ਖੋਲ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਣ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਦੇ ਕਾਬਿਲ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।

ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਸੋਚਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਸਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵੱਲ ਆਈਏ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵੱਲ ਘੱਲਾਂ। ਉਹ ਤੋਹਫ਼ਾ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਣਗੇ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਵਾਅਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਤੋਹਫ਼ਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਫ਼ੇਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਵਾਂਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਤੋਹਫ਼ਾ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੋਵਗਾ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਦੇਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਸੀ। ਫ਼ੇਰ ਇਹ ਤੋਹਫ਼ਾ ਇੱਕ ਸਵੈਂਇੱਛਿਤ ਤੋਹਫ਼ਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਨਾ ਕਿ ਅਣਇੱਛਿਤ।
