ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਤਦ ਹਿੱਤੀ ਅਹੀਮਲਕ ਅਤੇ ਸਰੂਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਬੀਸ਼ਈ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਯੋਆਬ ਦਾ ਭਰਾ ਸੀ, ਉੱਤਰ ਦੇਕੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਦੇ ਡੇਰਿਆ ਵੱਲ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਕੌਣ ਚੱਲੇਗਾ?” ਅਬੀਸ਼ਈ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਚੱਲਾਂਗਾ।”

ਹੋਰ ਬਹਾਦੁਰ ਸਿਪਾਹੀ ਸਰੂਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਯੋਆਬ ਦਾ ਭਰਾ ਅਬੀਸ਼ਈ ਵੀ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਮੁਖੀਆਂ ਸੀ। ਅਬੀਸ਼ਈ ਨੇ ਇੱਕੋ ਵੇਲੇ 300 ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਬਰਛੀ ਚਲਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਢ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਵੀ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਬੜਾ ਨਾਮੀ ਬਣਿਆ।

“ਜੁਆਨ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨਾਲ ਨਰਮ ਵਤੀਰਾ” ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਯੋਆਬ ਨੂੰ ਅਬੀਸ਼ਈ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਤਈ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਮੇਰੀ ਖਾਤਿਰ ਉਸ ਜੁਆਨ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨਾਲ ਨਰਮ ਵਰਤਾਓ ਕਰਨਾ।” ਜਿਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਕਪਤਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਇਹ ਆਗਿਆ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਤਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੁਣੀ।

ਤਦ ਸਰੂਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਬੀਸ਼ਈ ਨੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਇਹ ਮੋਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਕੁਤਾ ਭਲਾ ਕਾਹਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਸਰਾਪ ਦੇਵੇ? ਜੇਕਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਗਿਆ ਦੇਵੋਂ ਤਾਂ ਜਾਕੇ ਉਸਦਾ ਸਿਰ ਉਡਾ ਦੇਵਾਂ।”

ਪਰ ਤੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਨੂੰ ਅਣਗੌਲਿਆ ਕਿਉਂ ਕੀਤਾ? ਤੂੰ ਉਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਿਉਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਗ਼ਲਤ ਆਖ ਮਨ੍ਹਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ? ਤੂੰ ਹਿੱਤੀ ਊਰਿੱਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਉਂ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਵਢਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਬਣਾਇਆ? ਇਉਂ ਤੂੰ ਅੰਮੋਨੀਆਂ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਊਰਿੱਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਮਰਵਾਇਆ।

ਤਦ ਕੰਧ ਉੱਪਰ ਚੜ੍ਹੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਅਫ਼ਸਰਾਂ ਉੱਪਰ ਤੀਰ ਚਲਾਏ ਜਿਸ ਕਾਰਣ ਕੁਝ ਸੇਵਕ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਮਾਰੇ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਹਿੱਤੀ ਊਰਿੱਯਾਹ ਵੀ ਵੱਢਿਆ ਗਿਆ।”

ਯਰੂਬਸ਼ਥ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਬੀਮਲਕ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸਨੇ ਮਾਰਿਆ? ਕੀ ਭਲਾ ਇੱਕ ਔਰਤ ਨੇ ਉੱਪਰੋਂ ਚੱਕੀ ਦਾ ਪੁੜ ਉਸ ਉੱਪਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਕੱਢ ਮਾਰਿਆ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਤੇਬੇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਰ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ? ਸੋ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੀ ਕੰਧ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਕਿਸ ਲਈ ਗਏ?’ ਜੇਕਰ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦਾਊਦ ਅਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਪੁੱਛੇ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਦੇਣਾ ਕਿ ‘ਤੇਰਾ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਹਿੱਤੀ ਊਰਿੱਯਾਹ ਵੀ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।’”

ਦਾਊਦ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਾਪ ਨੂੰ ਛੁਪਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਯੋਆਬ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਨੇਹਾ ਭੇਜਿਆ, “ਹਿੱਤੀ ਊਰਿੱਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਭੇਜ।” ਤਾਂ ਯੋਆਬ ਨੇ ਊਰਿੱਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਊਦ ਕੋਲ ਭੇਜਿਆ।

ਯੋਨਾਥਾਨ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨੌਜੁਆਨ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਨੇ ਜਿਸਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਸਤਰ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਚੱਲ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਸੁੰਨਤੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਡੇਰੇ ਵੱਲ ਚੱਲੀਏ। ਕੀ ਪਤਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਡੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰੇ। ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੋਕ ਸੱਕਦਾ। ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਫ਼ਰਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਕਿ ਸਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਥੋੜੇ ਸਿਪਾਹੀ ਹਨ ਜਾਂ ਬਹੁਤੇ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਜੋ ਚਾਹੇ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਦਾ ਹੈ।”
