ਹਰ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਢ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਅਰਾਮੀ ਲੋਕ ਭੱਜ ਨਿਕਲੇ। ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀ ਸੈਨਾ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਿੱਛਾ ਕੀਤਾ। ਅਰਾਮ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਬਨ-ਹਦਦ ਇੱਕ ਘੋੜੇ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੁਝ ਘੋੜ-ਸਵਾਰ ਸਿਪਾਹੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਬਚ ਨਿਕਲਿਆ।

ਹਰ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਦਾ ਸਿਰ ਫ਼ੜਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਧਸਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਖੀ ਤੇ ਜ਼ਖਮੀ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਉਹ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਡਿੱਗ ਪਏ। ਇਹੀ ਕਾਰਣ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਗਿਬਉਨ ਵਿੱਚਲੀ ਇਹ ਥਾਂ “ਤਿੱਖੀ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਦਾ ਖੇਤ ਕਹਾਊਂਦੀ ਹੈ।”

ਦਾਊਦ ਦਾ ਅਮਾਲੇਕੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾਉਣਾ ਉਹ ਮਿਸਰ ਦਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੂੰ ਅਮਾਲੇਕੀਆਂ ਤੱਕ ਲੈ ਗਿਆ। ਉਹ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਉੱਤੇ ਬੈਠਕੇ ਖਾ-ਪੀ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੌਜ ਮਸਤੀ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ। ਉਹ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਲੁੱਟਕੇ ਲਿਆਏ ਸਨ, ਉਸਦਾ ਜਸ਼ਨ ਮਨਾ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।

ਤਾਂ ਯੋਨਾਥਾਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਹਾਰੇ ਉਸ ਪਹਾੜ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦਾ ਸਹਾਇਕ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ-ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਿਆ ਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੋਨਾ ਨੇ ਜਾ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਅੱਧੀ ਬੀਘਾ ਪੈਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਹੀ ਹਮਲੇ ਵਿੱਚ 20ਕੁ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ। ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਫ਼ੌਜੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਡੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਉਸ ਵੱਲ ਹਮਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਯੋਨਾਥਾਨ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੂੰਹ ਤੋੜ ਜਵਾਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਯੋਨਾਥਾਨ ਦੇ ਸਹਾਇਕ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ-ਪਿੱਛੇ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਜ਼ਖਮੀ ਕੀਤੇ ਸਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਮਾਰ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ।

ਫ਼ੇਰ ਗਿਦਾਊਨ ਦੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਸਮੂਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਮਸ਼ਾਲਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਖੱਬੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਫ਼ੜੀਆਂ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਬਿਗਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੱਜੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਤੁਰ੍ਹੀਆਂ ਵਜਾਈਆਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਨਾਅਰਾ ਲਾਇਆ, “ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਗਿਦਾਊਨ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਤਲਵਾਰ!”

ਚੰਗੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ? ਮੰਦੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ? ਅਸੀਂ ਕੀ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ? ਇਸ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ, ਮੈਂ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਤੇਜ਼-ਤਰਾਰ ਦੌੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਿਤ੍ਤਦਾ, ਸ਼ਕਤੀਸ਼ਾਲੀ ਜੰਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਿਤ੍ਤਦਾ, ਸਿਆਣੇ ਨੂੰ ਭੋਜਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ, ਚਾਲਾਕ ਅਮੀਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣਦਾ, ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ। ਜਦੋਂ ਬੁਰਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ, ਹਰ ਇੱਕ ਨਾਲ ਬੁਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਵਾਪਰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
