“ਮੈਂ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਇਹ ਆਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ: ‘ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਹੋਰਨਾ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੋਠੇ ਆਦਮੀਆ ਦੀ ਬਜਾਇ ਲੇਵੀਆ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ। ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਹੋਰਨਾ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਾਨਵਰਾ ਦੀ ਬਜਾਇ ਲੇਵੀਆ ਦੇ ਜਾਨਵਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਲਵਾਗਾ। ਲੇਵੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਨ।

ਲੇਵੀ ਪਹਿਲੋਠੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾ ਦਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੂਸਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਹਿਲੋਠੇ ਆਦਮੀਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੁੰਡਿਆ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਕਰ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਘੱਟੋ-ਘੱਟ ਇੱਕ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਇੱਕ ਸੂਚੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਖ।
