ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਾਂਤ ਕਿਉਂ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਬਾਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਦੋਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਇੱਕਾਂਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਬਾਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਰਸੂਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਾਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਅਰਥ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ।

1 ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਪੁੱਛਦਾ ਹਾਂ, “ਕੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮੰਜ਼ੂਰ ਕੀਤਾ?” ਨਹੀਂ। ਮੈਂ ਖੁਦ ਇੱਕ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀ ਹਾਂ। ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਬਿਨਯਾਮੀਨ ਦੇ ਵੰਸ਼ ਤੋਂ ਹਾਂ।
I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.
2 ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਜੰਮਣ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਚੁਣਿਆ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮੰਜ਼ੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ, ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹੋ ਕਿ ਏਲੀਯਾਹ ਬਾਰੇ ਪੋਥੀਆਂ ਕੀ ਆਖਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਪੋਥੀਆਂ ਏਲੀਯਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel, saying,
3 ਏਲੀਯਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ ਹੈ “ਪ੍ਰਭੂ। ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਬੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਨੋਂ ਮਾਰ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ, ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਜਗਵੇਦੀਆਂ ਢਾਹ ਸੁੱਟੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਹੀ ਇੱਕਲਾ ਨਬੀ ਰਹਿ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਾਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਪਏ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।”
Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life.
4 ਪਰ ਪਰੇਮਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਏਲੀਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਬਲਾ ਕੀ ਜਵਾਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ? ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਲਈ ਸੱਤ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਖ ਛੱਡਿਆ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਅਜੇ ਵੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੱਥਾ ਟੇਕਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਹੜੇ ਬਆਲ-ਜ਼ਬੂਲ ਅੱਗੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਝੁਕੇ।”
But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.
5 ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੁਣ ਵੀ ਉੱਥੇ ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਸਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਾਰਣ ਚੁਣੇ ਗਏ।
Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.
6 ਜੇਕਰ ਪਰੇਮਸ਼ੁਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਚੁਣੇ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਬਣ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਨਾ ਕਿ ਆਪਣੀ ਕਰਨੀ ਕਾਰਣ। ਜੇਕਰ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਕਾਰਣ ਧਰਮੀ ਬਣਾਏ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਫ਼ੇਰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਦਯਾ ਦਾ ਤੋਹਫ਼ਾ ਹੋਰ ਵੱਧੇਰੇ ਤੋਹਫ਼ਾ ਨਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.
7 ਤਾਂ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਕੀ ਹੋਇਆ। ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਧਰਮੀ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਪਰ ਉਹ ਨਾਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਰਹੇ। ਪਰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਚੁਣੇ ਲੋਕ ਧਰਮੀ ਬਣ ਗਏ। ਬਾਕੀ ਲੋਕ ਢੀਠ ਬਣੇ ਰਹੇ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਨ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰੀ ਬਣ ਗਏ।
What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded
8 ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਪੋਥੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, “ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗਹਿਰਾ ਸੌਣ ਦਿੱਤਾ।” “ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੌਣ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਨਾ ਵੇਖ ਸੱਕਣ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੰਨ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਸੁਣ ਨਾ ਸੱਕਣ। ਇਹ ਹਾਲੇ ਤੱਕ ਵਾਪਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।”
(According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day.
9 ਅਤੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ: “ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਦਾਵਤ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਈ ਝਾਂਸਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਣ ਦਿਉ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਫ਼ੰਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਫ਼ਸ ਜਾਣ ਦਿਉ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਡਿੱਗਣ ਅਤੇ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਪਾਉਣ ਦਿਉ।
And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them:
10 ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਧੁੰਦਲੀਆਂ ਹੋ ਜਾਣ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਨਾ ਵੇਖ ਸੱਕਣ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਸੰਕਟ ’ਚ ਰਹਿਣ।”
Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway.
11 ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਪੁੱਛਦਾ ਹਾਂ; ਜਦੋਂ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਡਿੱਗੇ, ਕੀ ਉਸ ਗਿਰਾਵਟ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕੀਤਾ? ਨਹੀਂ। ਪਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਲਤੀ ਨੇ ਹੋਰਾਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਲਈ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਲਿਆਂਦੀ। ਇਹ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਈਰਖਾਲੂ ਬਨਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਵਾਪਰਿਆ।
I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.
12 ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਗਲਤੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਅਸੀਸਾਂ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਣ ਬਣੀ। ਜੋ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਆਇਆ ਗੈਰ-ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਮਹਾਨ ਅਸੀਸਾਂ ਲਿਆਇਆ। ਇਸ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ, ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਦੋਂ ਜਦੋਂ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਉਵੇਂ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਬਣ ਗਏ ਜੋ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਹੋਣ ਤਾਂ ਹੋਰ ਵੱਧੇਰੇ ਅਸੀਸਾਂ ਹੋਣਗੀਆਂ।
Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?
13 ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਸਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਹੋਰਾਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਹਨ। ਮੈਂ ਹੋਰਾਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਲਈ ਰਸੂਲ ਹਾਂ, ਸੋ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਕੰਮ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੋ ਸੱਕੇ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ।
For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:
14 ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਸ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਈਰਖਾਲੂ ਬਣਾ ਸੱਕਦਾ। ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਨ ਯੋਗ ਹੋ ਸੱਕਾਂਗਾ।
If by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save some of them.
15 ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਮੋੜ ਲਿਆ। ਜਦੋਂ ਇੰਝ ਹੋਇਆ, ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਸਪੱਸ਼ਟ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਪਰਾਈਆਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਜਦੋਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਬੂਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਿਤ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਮੌਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਲਿਆਵੇਗਾ।
For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?
16 ਜੇਕਰ ਰੋਟੀ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਗਰਾਹੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਂਟ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਸਾਰੀ ਰੋਟੀ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਜੇਕਰ ਦਰੱਖਤ ਦੀਆਂ ਜੜ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਟਹਿਣੀਆਂ ਵੀ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋਣਗੀਆਂ।
For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.
17 ਇਹ ਇਵੇਂ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਜੈਤੂਨ ਦੇ ਦਰੱਖਤ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੁਝ ਟਹਿਣੀਆਂ ਤੋੜ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਹੋਣ, ਅਤੇ ਜੰਗਲੀ ਜੈਤੂਨ ਦੇ ਦਰੱਖਤ ਦੀਆਂ ਟਹਿਣੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਜੈਤੂਨ ਦੇ ਦਰੱਖਤ ਨਾਲ ਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਵੇ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਗੈਰ ਯਹੂਦੀ, ਜੋ ਜੰਗਲੀ ਟਹਿਣੀਆਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੋ, ਹੁਣ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਦਰੱਖਤ ਦੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਅਤੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਂਝਾ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ।
And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;
18 ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਘਮੰਡ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਟੁੱਟੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਟਹਿਣੀਆਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਉੱਤਮ ਹੋ। ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਘਮੰਡ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਵਜਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਹ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ, ਜੋ ਟਹਿਣੀ ਰੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਜੜ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.
19 ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਖੋਂਗੇ, “ਟਹਿਣੀਆਂ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਤੋੜੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਦਰੱਖਤ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਉਂਦ ਲਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸੱਕਾਂ।”
Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in.
20 ਇਹ ਸੱਚ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਬੇਪਰਤੀਤੀ ਕਾਰਣ ਤੋੜਿਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਸਨ। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਲਈ, ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਰੁੱਖ ਤੇ ਅਪਣੀ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕਾਰਣ ਠਹਿਰਿਆ ਹੈਂ। ਘਮੰਡ ਨਾ ਕਰ ਸਗੋਂ ਡਰ ਕੇ ਰਹਿ।
Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
21 ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਜੇਕਰ ਪਰੇਮਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਅਸਲੀ ਟਹਿਣੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਖਸ਼ਿਆ, ਤਾਂ ਜੇਕਰ ਤੂੰ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਥਿਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹੇਂਗਾ। ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਖਸ਼ੇਗਾ।
For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.
22 ਤਾਂ ਵੇਖ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਕਿੰਨਾ ਦਿਆਲੂ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਕਿੰਨਾ ਸਖਤ ਵੀ ਹੈ। ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੰਡ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਣੋ ਹਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਤੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਦਿਆਲੂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਜੇਕਰ ਤੂੰ ਉਸਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਥਿਰ ਰਹੇਂ। ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਵੀ ਦਰੱਖਤ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਢ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਂਗਾ।
Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
23 ਇਉਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਈ, ਜੇਕਰ ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗਣ, ਤਾਂ ਵਾਪਸ ਰੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਪਿਉਂਦ ਲਾਏ ਜਾਣਗੇ। ਹਾਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਤੋਂ ਦਰੱਖਤ ਦੀ ਪਿਉਂਦ ਲਾਉਣ ਯੋਗ ਹੈ।
And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again.
24 ਜੰਗਲੀ ਟਹਿਣੀ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਚੰਗੇ ਜੈਤੂਨ ਦੇ ਦਰੱਖਤ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਉਂਦ ਲਾਉਣੀ ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਗੈਰ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਟਹਿਣੀਆਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੋ ਜਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਜੰਗਲੀ ਜੈਤੂਨ ਦੇ ਦਰੱਖਤ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਢੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ। ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਵੱਧੀਆਂ ਜੈਤੂਨ ਦੇ ਦਰੱਖਤ ਦੀ ਪਿਉਂਦ ਲਾਈਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਹੋ। ਪਰ ਉਹ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਟਹਿਣੀਆਂ ਵਰਗੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਚੰਗੇ ਦਰੱਖਤ ਤੇ ਉੱਗੀਆਂ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਿਤ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਰੱਖਤ ਦੀ ਪਿਉਂਦ ਦੁਬਾਰਾ ਲਾਈਆਂ ਜਾ ਸੱਕਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree?
25 ਮੇਰੇ ਭਰਾਵੋ ਅਤੇ ਭੈਣੋ, ਮੈਂ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਸ ਗੁਪਤ ਸੱਚ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝੋ। ਇਹ ਸੱਚ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਤੱਥ ਸਮਝਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਦਦ ਕਰੇਗਾ ਕਿ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਤਾ। ਸੱਚ ਇਹ ਹੈ; ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਕਠੋਰ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਉਹ ਉਦੋਂ ਬਦਲੇਗਾ ਜਦੋਂ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੈਰ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਕੋਲ ਆ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
26 ਇੰਝ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀ ਬਚਾਏ ਜਾਣਗੇ, ਇਹ ਪੋਥੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਹਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ: “ਮੁਕਤੀਦਾਤਾ ਸੀਯੋਨ ਤੋਂ ਆਵੇਗਾ। ਉਹ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਬੁਰਿਆਈਆਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੱਢ ਸੁੱਟੇਗਾ।
And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
27 ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਇਕਰਾਰਨਾਮਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਬਣਾਵਾਂਗਾ, ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਪ ਕੱਢ ਦੇਵਾਂਗਾ।”
For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.
28 ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਖੁਸ਼ਖਬਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਣ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਹੋ ਗਏ। ਇਹ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਗੈਰ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਵਾਪਰਿਆ। ਪਰ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਚੁਣੇ ਹੋਏ ਲੋਕ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਾਇਦਿਆ ਖਾਤਰ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿਉ ਦਾਦਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤੇ ਸਨ।
As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers’ sakes.
29 ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਕਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਦਲੇਗਾ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਸੱਦਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਜੋ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
30 ਇੱਕ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਣ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ, ਪਰ ਹੁਣ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਮਿਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਗਿਆ ਮੰਨਣ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:
31 ਅਤੇ ਹੁਣ, ਯਹੂਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਮੰਨਣ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਦਰਸਾਈ, ਪਰ ਇਹ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਵਾਪਰਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਵੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਮਿਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਣ।
Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.
32 ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਠਿਆਂ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਮੰਨਣ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ, ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦਰਸਾ ਸੱਕੇ।
For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.
33 ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਰੋ ਹਾਂ, ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਕਿੰਨੀਆਂ ਮਹਾਨ ਹਨ। ਉਸਦੀ ਬੁਧਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ। ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਦਾ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਕੋਈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਢੰਗ ਸਮਝ ਸੱਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
34 ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਪੋਥੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, “ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਕੌਣ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ? ਕੌਣ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਉਸਦਾ ਸਲਾਹੀ ਬਣੇ?”
For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counseller?
35 “ਕਿਸਨੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਦਿੱਤਾ? ਜਿਹ ਦਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਵਾਪਸ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ।”
Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?
36 ਹਾਂ, ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਥਾਂ ਟਿਕਾਣੇ ਤੇ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਹੈ। ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਮਹਿਮਾ। ਆਮੀਨ।

1 ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਪੁੱਛਦਾ ਹਾਂ, “ਕੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮੰਜ਼ੂਰ ਕੀਤਾ?” ਨਹੀਂ। ਮੈਂ ਖੁਦ ਇੱਕ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀ ਹਾਂ। ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਬਿਨਯਾਮੀਨ ਦੇ ਵੰਸ਼ ਤੋਂ ਹਾਂ।
I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.
2 ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਜੰਮਣ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਚੁਣਿਆ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਮੰਜ਼ੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ, ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹੋ ਕਿ ਏਲੀਯਾਹ ਬਾਰੇ ਪੋਥੀਆਂ ਕੀ ਆਖਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਪੋਥੀਆਂ ਏਲੀਯਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel, saying,
3 ਏਲੀਯਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ ਹੈ “ਪ੍ਰਭੂ। ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਬੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਨੋਂ ਮਾਰ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ, ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਜਗਵੇਦੀਆਂ ਢਾਹ ਸੁੱਟੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਹੀ ਇੱਕਲਾ ਨਬੀ ਰਹਿ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਾਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਪਏ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।”
Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life.
4 ਪਰ ਪਰੇਮਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਏਲੀਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਬਲਾ ਕੀ ਜਵਾਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ? ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਲਈ ਸੱਤ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਖ ਛੱਡਿਆ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਅਜੇ ਵੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੱਥਾ ਟੇਕਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜਿਹੜੇ ਬਆਲ-ਜ਼ਬੂਲ ਅੱਗੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਝੁਕੇ।”
But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.
5 ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੁਣ ਵੀ ਉੱਥੇ ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਸਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਾਰਣ ਚੁਣੇ ਗਏ।
Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.
6 ਜੇਕਰ ਪਰੇਮਸ਼ੁਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਚੁਣੇ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਬਣ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਨਾ ਕਿ ਆਪਣੀ ਕਰਨੀ ਕਾਰਣ। ਜੇਕਰ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਕਾਰਣ ਧਰਮੀ ਬਣਾਏ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਫ਼ੇਰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਦਯਾ ਦਾ ਤੋਹਫ਼ਾ ਹੋਰ ਵੱਧੇਰੇ ਤੋਹਫ਼ਾ ਨਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ।
And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.
7 ਤਾਂ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਕੀ ਹੋਇਆ। ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਧਰਮੀ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਪਰ ਉਹ ਨਾਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਰਹੇ। ਪਰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਚੁਣੇ ਲੋਕ ਧਰਮੀ ਬਣ ਗਏ। ਬਾਕੀ ਲੋਕ ਢੀਠ ਬਣੇ ਰਹੇ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਨ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰੀ ਬਣ ਗਏ।
What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded
8 ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਪੋਥੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, “ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗਹਿਰਾ ਸੌਣ ਦਿੱਤਾ।” “ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੌਣ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਨਾ ਵੇਖ ਸੱਕਣ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੰਨ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਸੁਣ ਨਾ ਸੱਕਣ। ਇਹ ਹਾਲੇ ਤੱਕ ਵਾਪਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।”
(According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day.
9 ਅਤੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ: “ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਦਾਵਤ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਈ ਝਾਂਸਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਣ ਦਿਉ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਫ਼ੰਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਫ਼ਸ ਜਾਣ ਦਿਉ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਡਿੱਗਣ ਅਤੇ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਪਾਉਣ ਦਿਉ।
And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them:
10 ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਧੁੰਦਲੀਆਂ ਹੋ ਜਾਣ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਨਾ ਵੇਖ ਸੱਕਣ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਸੰਕਟ ’ਚ ਰਹਿਣ।”
Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway.
11 ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਪੁੱਛਦਾ ਹਾਂ; ਜਦੋਂ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਡਿੱਗੇ, ਕੀ ਉਸ ਗਿਰਾਵਟ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕੀਤਾ? ਨਹੀਂ। ਪਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਲਤੀ ਨੇ ਹੋਰਾਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਲਈ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਲਿਆਂਦੀ। ਇਹ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਈਰਖਾਲੂ ਬਨਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਵਾਪਰਿਆ।
I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.
12 ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਗਲਤੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਅਸੀਸਾਂ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਣ ਬਣੀ। ਜੋ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਆਇਆ ਗੈਰ-ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਮਹਾਨ ਅਸੀਸਾਂ ਲਿਆਇਆ। ਇਸ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ, ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਦੋਂ ਜਦੋਂ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਉਵੇਂ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਬਣ ਗਏ ਜੋ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਹੋਣ ਤਾਂ ਹੋਰ ਵੱਧੇਰੇ ਅਸੀਸਾਂ ਹੋਣਗੀਆਂ।
Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?
13 ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਸਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਹੋਰਾਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਹਨ। ਮੈਂ ਹੋਰਾਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਲਈ ਰਸੂਲ ਹਾਂ, ਸੋ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਕੰਮ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੋ ਸੱਕੇ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ।
For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:
14 ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਸ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਈਰਖਾਲੂ ਬਣਾ ਸੱਕਦਾ। ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਨ ਯੋਗ ਹੋ ਸੱਕਾਂਗਾ।
If by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save some of them.
15 ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਮੋੜ ਲਿਆ। ਜਦੋਂ ਇੰਝ ਹੋਇਆ, ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਸਪੱਸ਼ਟ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਪਰਾਈਆਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਜਦੋਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਬੂਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਿਤ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਮੌਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਲਿਆਵੇਗਾ।
For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?
16 ਜੇਕਰ ਰੋਟੀ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਗਰਾਹੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਂਟ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਸਾਰੀ ਰੋਟੀ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਜੇਕਰ ਦਰੱਖਤ ਦੀਆਂ ਜੜ੍ਹਾਂ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹਨ, ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਟਹਿਣੀਆਂ ਵੀ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹੋਣਗੀਆਂ।
For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.
17 ਇਹ ਇਵੇਂ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਜੈਤੂਨ ਦੇ ਦਰੱਖਤ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੁਝ ਟਹਿਣੀਆਂ ਤੋੜ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਹੋਣ, ਅਤੇ ਜੰਗਲੀ ਜੈਤੂਨ ਦੇ ਦਰੱਖਤ ਦੀਆਂ ਟਹਿਣੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਜੈਤੂਨ ਦੇ ਦਰੱਖਤ ਨਾਲ ਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੋਵੇ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਗੈਰ ਯਹੂਦੀ, ਜੋ ਜੰਗਲੀ ਟਹਿਣੀਆਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੋ, ਹੁਣ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਦਰੱਖਤ ਦੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਅਤੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਂਝਾ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ।
And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;
18 ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਘਮੰਡ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਟੁੱਟੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਟਹਿਣੀਆਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਉੱਤਮ ਹੋ। ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਘਮੰਡ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਵਜਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਹ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ, ਜੋ ਟਹਿਣੀ ਰੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਜੜ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।
Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.
19 ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਖੋਂਗੇ, “ਟਹਿਣੀਆਂ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਤੋੜੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਦਰੱਖਤ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਉਂਦ ਲਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸੱਕਾਂ।”
Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in.
20 ਇਹ ਸੱਚ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਬੇਪਰਤੀਤੀ ਕਾਰਣ ਤੋੜਿਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਸਨ। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਲਈ, ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਰੁੱਖ ਤੇ ਅਪਣੀ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕਾਰਣ ਠਹਿਰਿਆ ਹੈਂ। ਘਮੰਡ ਨਾ ਕਰ ਸਗੋਂ ਡਰ ਕੇ ਰਹਿ।
Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
21 ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਜੇਕਰ ਪਰੇਮਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਅਸਲੀ ਟਹਿਣੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਖਸ਼ਿਆ, ਤਾਂ ਜੇਕਰ ਤੂੰ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਥਿਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹੇਂਗਾ। ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਖਸ਼ੇਗਾ।
For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.
22 ਤਾਂ ਵੇਖ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਕਿੰਨਾ ਦਿਆਲੂ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਕਿੰਨਾ ਸਖਤ ਵੀ ਹੈ। ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੰਡ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਣੋ ਹਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਤੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਦਿਆਲੂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਜੇਕਰ ਤੂੰ ਉਸਦੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਥਿਰ ਰਹੇਂ। ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਵੀ ਦਰੱਖਤ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਢ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਂਗਾ।
Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
23 ਇਉਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਈ, ਜੇਕਰ ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗਣ, ਤਾਂ ਵਾਪਸ ਰੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਪਿਉਂਦ ਲਾਏ ਜਾਣਗੇ। ਹਾਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਤੋਂ ਦਰੱਖਤ ਦੀ ਪਿਉਂਦ ਲਾਉਣ ਯੋਗ ਹੈ।
And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again.
24 ਜੰਗਲੀ ਟਹਿਣੀ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਚੰਗੇ ਜੈਤੂਨ ਦੇ ਦਰੱਖਤ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਉਂਦ ਲਾਉਣੀ ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਗੈਰ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਟਹਿਣੀਆਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੋ ਜਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਜੰਗਲੀ ਜੈਤੂਨ ਦੇ ਦਰੱਖਤ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਢੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ। ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਵੱਧੀਆਂ ਜੈਤੂਨ ਦੇ ਦਰੱਖਤ ਦੀ ਪਿਉਂਦ ਲਾਈਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਹੋ। ਪਰ ਉਹ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਟਹਿਣੀਆਂ ਵਰਗੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਚੰਗੇ ਦਰੱਖਤ ਤੇ ਉੱਗੀਆਂ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਿਤ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਰੱਖਤ ਦੀ ਪਿਉਂਦ ਦੁਬਾਰਾ ਲਾਈਆਂ ਜਾ ਸੱਕਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree?
25 ਮੇਰੇ ਭਰਾਵੋ ਅਤੇ ਭੈਣੋ, ਮੈਂ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਸ ਗੁਪਤ ਸੱਚ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝੋ। ਇਹ ਸੱਚ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਤੱਥ ਸਮਝਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਦਦ ਕਰੇਗਾ ਕਿ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਤਾ। ਸੱਚ ਇਹ ਹੈ; ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਕਠੋਰ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਉਹ ਉਦੋਂ ਬਦਲੇਗਾ ਜਦੋਂ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੈਰ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਕੋਲ ਆ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
26 ਇੰਝ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀ ਬਚਾਏ ਜਾਣਗੇ, ਇਹ ਪੋਥੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਹਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ: “ਮੁਕਤੀਦਾਤਾ ਸੀਯੋਨ ਤੋਂ ਆਵੇਗਾ। ਉਹ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਬੁਰਿਆਈਆਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੱਢ ਸੁੱਟੇਗਾ।
And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
27 ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਇਕਰਾਰਨਾਮਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਬਣਾਵਾਂਗਾ, ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਪ ਕੱਢ ਦੇਵਾਂਗਾ।”
For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.
28 ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਖੁਸ਼ਖਬਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਣ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਵੈਰੀ ਹੋ ਗਏ। ਇਹ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਗੈਰ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਵਾਪਰਿਆ। ਪਰ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਚੁਣੇ ਹੋਏ ਲੋਕ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਾਇਦਿਆ ਖਾਤਰ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿਉ ਦਾਦਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤੇ ਸਨ।
As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers’ sakes.
29 ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਕਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਦਲੇਗਾ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਸੱਦਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਜੋ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
30 ਇੱਕ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਣ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ, ਪਰ ਹੁਣ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਮਿਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਗਿਆ ਮੰਨਣ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:
31 ਅਤੇ ਹੁਣ, ਯਹੂਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਮੰਨਣ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਦਰਸਾਈ, ਪਰ ਇਹ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਵਾਪਰਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਵੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਮਿਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਣ।
Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.
32 ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਠਿਆਂ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਮੰਨਣ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ, ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦਰਸਾ ਸੱਕੇ।
For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.
33 ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਰੋ ਹਾਂ, ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਕਿੰਨੀਆਂ ਮਹਾਨ ਹਨ। ਉਸਦੀ ਬੁਧਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ। ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਦਾ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਕੋਈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਢੰਗ ਸਮਝ ਸੱਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
34 ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਪੋਥੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, “ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਕੌਣ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ? ਕੌਣ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਉਸਦਾ ਸਲਾਹੀ ਬਣੇ?”
For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counseller?
35 “ਕਿਸਨੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਦਿੱਤਾ? ਜਿਹ ਦਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਵਾਪਸ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ।”
Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?
36 ਹਾਂ, ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਥਾਂ ਟਿਕਾਣੇ ਤੇ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਹੈ। ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਲਈ ਮਹਿਮਾ। ਆਮੀਨ।
For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.
