1 ਬੀਜ ਬੀਜਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਕਿਸਾਨ ਦੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਾਂਤ ਇੱਕ ਹੋਰ ਸਮੇਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਝੀਲ ਦੇ ਕਿਨਾਰੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਬੁਹਤ ਸਾਰੀ ਭੀੜ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਗਿਰਦ ਜੁੜ ਗਈ। ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਬੇੜੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੜ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਗਿਆ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਝੀਲ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਬੈਠ ਗਿਆ। ਬਾਕੀ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਝੀਲ ਦੇ ਕੰਢੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਪਰ ਖੜ੍ਹੇ ਰਹੇ।
2 ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੇੜੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਾਂਤਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਾਈਆਂ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ,
3 “ਸੁਣੋ! ਇੱਕ ਕਿਸਾਨ ਬੀਜ ਬੀਜਣ ਲਈ ਨਿਕਲਿਆ।
4 ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਬੀਜ ਬੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ, ਤਾਂ ਕੁਝ ਬੀਜ ਸੜਕ ਦੇ ਕਿਨਾਰੇ ਡਿੱਗ ਪਏ, ਪੰਛੀ ਆਏ ਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੀਜਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੁਗ ਗਏ।
5 ਕੁਝ ਬੀਜ ਪੱਥਰੀਲੀ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਤੇ ਡਿੱਗੇ, ਉਸ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਤੇ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ। ਉੱਥੇ ਬੀਜ ਬੜੀ ਜਲਦੀ ਫ਼ੁੱਟ ਪਏ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ।
6 ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਸੂਰਜ ਚੜ੍ਹ੍ਹਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਪੌਦੇ ਕੁਮਲਾ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਸੜ ਗਏ। ਉਹ ਪੌਦੇ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਸੁੱਕ-ਸੜ ਗਏ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਜੜ੍ਹ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ।
7 ਕੁਝ ਹੋਰ ਬੀਜ ਕੰਡਿਆਲੀਆਂ ਝਾੜੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚਕਾਰ ਡਿੱਗੇ, ਪਰ ਉੱਥੇ ਕੰਡਿਆਲੀਆਂ ਝਾੜੀਆਂ ਵੱਧੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਘੁੱਟ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਧਣ ਨਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੀਜਾਂ ਨੇ ਫ਼ਲ ਨਾ ਦਿੱਤੇ।
8 ਕੁਝ ਹੋਰ ਬੀਜ ਵੱਧੀਆ ਜਮੀਨ ਉੱਪਰ ਡਿੱਗੇ। ਅਤੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਸ ਵੱਧੀਆ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਤੇ ਬੀਜ ਡਿੱਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਪੁੰਗਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਅਨਾਜ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ। ਕੁਝ ਪੌਦਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਤੀਹ ਗੁਣਾ ਕੁਝ ਨੇ ਸੱਠ ਗੁਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਝ ਨੇ ਸੌ ਗੁਣਾ ਵੱਧ ਝਾੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ।”
9 ਫ਼ਿਰ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਜੇਕਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸੁਣ ਸੱਕਦੇ ਹੋ ਤਾਂ, ਮੇਰੇ ਵੱਲ ਧਿਆਨ ਦਿਉ।”
10 ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਾਂਤ ਕਿਉਂ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਬਾਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਦੋਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਇੱਕਾਂਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਬਾਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਰਸੂਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਾਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਅਰਥ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ।
11 ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਭੇਤ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਦੂਜੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ, ਮੈਂ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਾਤਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
12 ਮੈਂ ਇਉਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ: ‘ਉਹ ਤੱਕਦੇ ਰਹਿਣਗੇ ਪਰ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੇਖਣਗੇ। ਉਹ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਰਹਿਣਗੇ ਪਰ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਣਗੇ। ਜੇਕਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਸ਼ਾਇਦ ਉਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵੱਲ ਮੁੜ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਾਫ਼ੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਦੇ।’”
13 ਯਿਸੂ ਦੀ ਬੀਜ ਬਾਰੇ ਵਿਆਖਿਆ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਕੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਸ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਾਂਤ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝੇ ਹੋ? ਜੇਕਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝੇ ਤਾਂ ਬਾਕੀ ਦੇ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਾਂਤ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਸਮਝੋਂਗੇ?
14 ਬੀਜਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਬਚਨ ਬੀਜਦਾ ਹੈ।
15 ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੀਜਾਂ ਵਰਗੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਦੇ ਕਿਨਾਰੇ ਵਾਲੀ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਡਿੱਗੇ। ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੋਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਸ਼ੈਤਾਨ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਜੋ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੋਏ ਗਏ ਸਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
16 “ਬਾਕੀ ਲੋਕ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੀਜਾਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਹਨ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਪੱਥਰੀਲੀ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਉੱਤੇ ਡਿੱਗੇ। ਉਹ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਸੁਣਦਿਆਂ ਸਾਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ ਕਬੂਲ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
17 ਪਰ ਇਹ ਲੋਕ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਡੂੰਘਿਆਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣ ਦਿੰਦੇ। ਉਹ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਥੋੜੀ ਦੇਰ ਲਈ ਹੀ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਅਨੁਸਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਜਦੋਂ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਕਾਰਣ ਸੰਕਟ ਜਾਂ ਦੰਡ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਝੱਟ ਹੀ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
18 “ਬਾਕੀ ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੀਜਾਂ ਵਰਗੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਕੰਡਿਆਲੀਆਂ ਝਾੜੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਡਿੱਗੇ। ਇਹ ਲੋਕ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਨ,
19 ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਇਸ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਚਿੰਤਾਵਾਂ, ਧਨ ਦੀ ਚਮਕ-ਦਮਕ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਤੇ ਕਬਜ਼ਾ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਲਾਲਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ, ਇਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਘੁੱਟ ਦਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਫ਼ਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਣ ਦਿੰਦੀਆਂ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਅਫ਼ਲ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
20 “ਬਾਕੀ ਲੋਕ ਵੱਧੀਆ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਤੇ ਬੀਜੇ ਗਏ ਬੀਜ ਵਾਂਗ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਬੂਲ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਫ਼ਲ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਕੋਈ ਤੀਹ ਗੁਣਾ, ਕੋਈ ਸੱਠ ਗੁਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਸੌ ਗੁਣਾ।”
21 ਜੋ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਹੈ ਉਸਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰੋ ਤਦ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਕੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਦੀਵਾ ਲਿਆਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਟੋਰੇ ਹੇਠ ਜਾਂ ਮੰਜੇ ਹੇਠ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹੋ? ਨਹੀਂ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਦੀਵੇ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਮਾਦਾਨ ਤੇ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹੋ।
22 ਹਰ ਲੁਕੀ ਚੀਜ਼ ਦੱਸੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਹਰ ਗੁਪਤ ਗੱਲ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।
23 ਤੁਸੀਂ ਲੋਕ ਜੋ ਸੁਣ ਸੱਕਦੇ ਹੋ, ਸੁਣੋ!
24 ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਆਖਿਆ, ‘ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸੁਣੋ, ਉਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਸੋਚੋ। ਜਿਸ ਨਾਪ ਨਾਲ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਨਾਪਦੇ ਹੋ ਉਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਵੀ ਨਾਪਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਪਰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਉਸਤੋਂ ਵੱਧੀਕ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
25 ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕੋਲ ਕੁਝ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਪਰ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕੋਲ ਕੁਝ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਵੀ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।’”
26 ਯਿਸੂ ਬੀਜ ਦਾ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਾਂਤ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਹੈ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਰਾਜ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਬੀਜ ਬੀਜਦਾ ਹੈ।
27 ਬੀਜ ਵੱਧਣ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਦਿਨ-ਰਾਤ ਵੱਧਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੁੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਜਾਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਬੀਜ਼ ਤਾਂ ਵੱਧਦਾ ਹੀ ਰਹੇਗਾ। ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਬੀਜ਼ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਵੱਧ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
28 ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਤਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ-ਆਪ ਦਾਣੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਪਹਿਲਾਂ, ਟਹਿਣੀ ਵੱਧਦੀ ਹੈ, ਫ਼ੇਰ ਸਿਟਾ, ਫ਼ੇਰ ਉਸ ਸਿੱਟੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੂਰੇ ਦਾਣੇ ਬਣਦੇ ਹਨ।
29 ਜਦੋਂ ਤੀਕਰ ਦਾਣੇ ਪੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਢਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਵਾਢੀ ਦਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।”
30 ਰਾਜ ਸਰ੍ਹੋਂ ਦੇ ਦਾਣੇ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੈ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜ ਦਾ ਵਰਨਣ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਉਦਾਹਰਨ ਦੇਵਾਂ? ਇੰਝ ਵਿਸਤਾਰ ਪੂਰਵਕ ਦੱਸਣ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਕਿਹੜੀ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਚ ਲਿਆਵਾਂ
31 ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਰਾਜ ਉਸ ਰਾਈ ਦੇ ਦਾਣੇ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕਿ ਸਭ ਬੀਜਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਛੋਟਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੇ ਬੋਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
32 ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਇਹ ਬੀਜਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਵੱਧਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਬਾਗ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪੌਦਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਵੱਡਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਸ਼ਾਖਾਵਾਂ ਬੜੀਆਂ ਵੱਡੀਆਂ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਇੱਥੇ ਜੰਗਲੀ ਪੰਛੀ ਆਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਲ੍ਹਣੇ ਪਾਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ-ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਧੁੱਪ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।”
33 ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਕਈ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਾਂਤ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਦਿੱਤੇ। ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਨੇ ਹੀ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਜਿੰਨੇ ਵੱਧ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਉਹ ਸਮਝਣ ਯੋਗ ਸਨ।
34 ਯਿਸੂ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕਹਾਣੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਦਾ। ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕਲਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਗੱਲ ਦਾ ਵਿਸਤਾਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ।
35 ਯਿਸੂ ਦਾ ਤੂਫ਼ਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਣਾ ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਸ਼ਾਮ ਵੇਲੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਆਓ! ਝੀਲ ਦੇ ਉਸ ਪਾਰ ਚੱਲੀਏ।”
36 ਯਿਸੂ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚੇਲੇ ਬਾਕੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਥੇ ਹੀ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ, ਉਸ ਬੇੜੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੈਠਕੇ ਚੱਲੇ ਗਏ ਜਿਸ ਬੇੜੀ ਚ ਬੈਠਕੇ ਉਹ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ। ਕੁਝ ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਬੇੜੀਆਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਨ।
37 ਤਦ ਝੀਲ ਤੇ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਹਨੇਰੀ ਵਗੀ। ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਬੇੜੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਵੱਜ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਸਨ। ਬੇੜੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਭਰ ਚੱਲੀ ਸੀ।
38 ਯਿਸੂ ਉਸ ਵਕਤ ਬੇੜੀ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛਲੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਇੱਕ ਸਿਰਹਾਣਾ ਰੱਖਕੇ ਸੁੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਠਾਇਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ, ਕੀ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਡੁੱਬ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ।”
39 ਯਿਸੂ ਉੱਠਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਹਨੇਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ “ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਓ, ਥੰਮ ਜਾਓ।” ਤਾਂ ਹਨੇਰੀ ਰੁਕ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਝੀਲ ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ।
40 ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਚੇਲਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇੰਨੇ ਘਬਰਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਕਿਉਂ ਹੋ? ਕੀ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਅਜੇ ਵੀ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਨਹੀਂ?”
41 ਚੇਲੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਡਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਤੋਂ ਪੁੱਛ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ, “ਇਹ ਕਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੈ? ਹਵਾ ਅਤੇ ਝੀਲ ਵੀ ਉਸਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਦਾ ਪਾਲਣ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।”
1 And he began again to teach by the sea side: and there was gathered unto him a great multitude, so that he entered into a ship, and sat in the sea; and the whole multitude was by the sea on the land.
2 And he taught them many things by parables, and said unto them in his doctrine,
3 Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow:
4 And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up.
5 And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth:
6 But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.
7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit.
8 And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred.
9 And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
10 And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable.
11 And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:
12 That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.
13 And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables?
14 The sower soweth the word.
15 And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.
16 And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness;
17 And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word’s sake, immediately they are offended.
18 And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word,
19 And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.
20 And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.
21 And he said unto them, Is a candle brought to be put under a bushel, or under a bed? and not to be set on a candlestick?
22 For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad.
23 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.
24 And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.
25 For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.
26 And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;
27 And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how.
28 For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.
29 But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.
30 And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it?
31 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth:
32 But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.
33 And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as they were able to hear it.
34 But without a parable spake he not unto them: and when they were alone, he expounded all things to his disciples.
35 And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.
36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.
37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.
38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?
39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?
41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?
1 And when king Arad the Canaanite, which dwelt in the south, heard tell that Israel came by the way of the spies; then he fought against Israel, and took some of them prisoners.
2 And Israel vowed a vow unto the Lord, and said, If thou wilt indeed deliver this people into my hand, then I will utterly destroy their cities.
3 And the Lord hearkened to the voice of Israel, and delivered up the Canaanites; and they utterly destroyed them and their cities: and he called the name of the place Hormah.
4 And they journeyed from mount Hor by the way of the Red sea, to compass the land of Edom: and the soul of the people was much discouraged because of the way.
5 And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.
6 And the Lord sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
7 Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord, and against thee; pray unto the Lord, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.
8 And the Lord said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.
9 And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.
10 And the children of Israel set forward, and pitched in Oboth.
11 And they journeyed from Oboth, and pitched at Ije-abarim, in the wilderness which is before Moab, toward the sunrising.
12 From thence they removed, and pitched in the valley of Zared.
13 From thence they removed, and pitched on the other side of Arnon, which is in the wilderness that cometh out of the coasts of the Amorites: for Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites.
14 Wherefore it is said in the book of the wars of the Lord, What he did in the Red sea, and in the brooks of Arnon,
15 And at the stream of the brooks that goeth down to the dwelling of Ar, and lieth upon the border of Moab.
16 And from thence they went to Beer: that is the well whereof the Lord spake unto Moses, Gather the people together, and I will give them water.
17 Then Israel sang this song, Spring up, O well; sing ye unto it:
18 The princes digged the well, the nobles of the people digged it, by the direction of the lawgiver, with their staves. And from the wilderness they went to Mattanah:
19 And from Mattanah to Nahaliel: and from Nahaliel to Bamoth:
20 And from Bamoth in the valley, that is in the country of Moab, to the top of Pisgah, which looketh toward Jeshimon.
21 And Israel sent messengers unto Sihon king of the Amorites, saying,
22 Let me pass through thy land: we will not turn into the fields, or into the vineyards; we will not drink of the waters of the well: but we will go along by the king’s high way, until we be past thy borders.
23 And Sihon would not suffer Israel to pass through his border: but Sihon gathered all his people together, and went out against Israel into the wilderness: and he came to Jahaz, and fought against Israel.
24 And Israel smote him with the edge of the sword, and possessed his land from Arnon unto Jabbok, even unto the children of Ammon: for the border of the children of Ammon was strong.
25 And Israel took all these cities: and Israel dwelt in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon, and in all the villages thereof.
26 For Heshbon was the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab, and taken all his land out of his hand, even unto Arnon.
27 Wherefore they that speak in proverbs say, Come into Heshbon, let the city of Sihon be built and prepared:
28 For there is a fire gone out of Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon: it hath consumed Ar of Moab, and the lords of the high places of Arnon.
29 Woe to thee, Moab! thou art undone, O people of Chemosh: he hath given his sons that escaped, and his daughters, into captivity unto Sihon king of the Amorites.
30 We have shot at them; Heshbon is perished even unto Dibon, and we have laid them waste even unto Nophah, which reacheth unto Medeba.
31 Thus Israel dwelt in the land of the Amorites.
32 And Moses sent to spy out Jaazer, and they took the villages thereof, and drove out the Amorites that were there.
33 And they turned and went up by the way of Bashan: and Og the king of Bashan went out against them, he, and all his people, to the battle at Edrei.
34 And the Lord said unto Moses, Fear him not: for I have delivered him into thy hand, and all his people, and his land; and thou shalt do to him as thou didst unto Sihon king of the Amorites, which dwelt at Heshbon.
35 So they smote him, and his sons, and all his people, until there was none left him alive: and they possessed his land.
