ਪਿਲਾਤੁਸ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੂੰ ਛੁਡਾਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਅਸਮਰਥ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਰ ਸਾਲ ਪਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਤੇ ਰਾਜਪਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਕੈਦੀ, ਜਿਸ ਲਈ ਲੋਕ ਅਰਜ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਕਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ।
