ਯੂਹੰਨਾ ਦੇ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਊਠ ਦੇ ਵਾਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਕਮਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਚਮੜੇ ਦੀ ਪੇਟੀ ਬੰਧੀ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਟਿੱਡੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਜੰਗਲੀ ਸ਼ਹਿਦ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ।
