ਉੱਥੇ ਸਾਰਾਹ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਬੰਦਾ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਬੰਦੇ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਾਨੋਆਹ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਦਾਨ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸੀ। ਮਾਨੋਆਹ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਪਤਨੀ ਸੀ। ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕੋਈ ਔਲਾਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ।

ਇਸ ਲਈ ਦਾਨ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਨੇ ਪੰਜ ਸਿਪਾਹੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਧਰਤੀ ਲੱਭਣ ਲਈ ਭੇਜਿਆ। ਉਹ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਚੰਗੀ ਥਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਲਾਸ਼ ਕਰਨ ਨਿਕਲੇ। ਉਹ ਪੰਜੇ ਆਦਮੀ ਸਾਰਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਅਸ਼ਤਾਓਲ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਚੁਣਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਦਾਨ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ, “ਜਾਓ ਕੁਝ ਧਰਤੀ ਤਲਾਸ਼ ਕਰੋ।” ਪੰਜੇ ਆਦਮੀ ਇਫ਼ਰਾਈਮ ਦੇ ਪਹਾੜੀ ਪ੍ਰਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਆ ਗਏ। ਉਹ ਮੀਕਾਹ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਆਏ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਰਾਤ ਕੱਟੀ।
