ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਲੇਵੀ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਧਰਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਇਕਰਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਖੁਦ ਲੇਵੀ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਸੌਗਾਤ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।

ਇੱਕ ਲੇਵੀ ਦਾ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਹੀ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲੀ। ਇਸਦੀ ਬਜਾਇ ਲੇਵੀ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਜਾਨਵਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਹਾਸਿਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਮ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਵੇ ਵਜੋਂ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹੀ ਸੀ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਇਕਰਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ।

ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਹਾਰੂਨ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲੇਗੀ। ਅਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਚੀਜ਼ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਲਕੀਅਤ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਮਲਕੀਅਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ। ਮੈਂ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਹੋਵਾਂਗਾ। ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਮਿਲੇਗੀ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਮੈਂ ਇਕਰਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ, ਖੁਦ ਹੀ ਇੱਕ ਸੁਗਾਤ ਹਾਂ।

ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਲੇਵੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਸਰਾ ਦੇਣਾ “ਲੇਵੀ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਨੂੰ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਧਰਤੀ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲੇਗਾ। ਉਹ ਲੋਕ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਵਜੋਂ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨਗੇ। ਉਹ ਆਪਣਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਨਿਰਬਾਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬਲੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਭੋਜਨ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਕਰਨਗੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਗਨ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਕਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਲੇਵੀ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹਾ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਹੈ।
