Isaiah 1:2
ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਰੋਸ ਹੇ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਤੇ ਧਰਤੀ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣੋ! ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, “ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਲਿਆ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਵੱਧਣ ਫ਼ੁੱਲਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕੀਤੀ। ਪਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਹੀ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਹੋ ਗਏ।

| and give ear, | וְהַאֲזִ֣ינִי | wĕhaʾăzînî | veh-ha-uh-ZEE-nee |
| earth: O | אֶ֔רֶץ | ʾereṣ | EH-rets |
| for | כִּ֥י | kî | kee |
| the Lord | יְהוָ֖ה | yĕhwâ | yeh-VA |
| hath spoken, | דִּבֵּ֑ר | dibbēr | dee-BARE |
| nourished have I | בָּנִים֙ | bānîm | ba-NEEM |
| and brought up | גִּדַּ֣לְתִּי | giddaltî | ɡee-DAHL-tee |
| children, | וְרוֹמַ֔מְתִּי | wĕrômamtî | veh-roh-MAHM-tee |
| they and | וְהֵ֖ם | wĕhēm | veh-HAME |
| have rebelled | פָּ֥שְׁעוּ | pāšĕʿû | PA-sheh-oo |
| against me. | בִֽי׃ | bî | vee |
