ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨੇ ਯੋਆਬ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਵੱਲ ਸੁਨੇਹਾ ਭੇਜਿਆ। ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਇੱਥੇ ਆਉਣ ਲਈ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਕੋਲ ਭੇਜਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਕੋਲ ਭੇਜਕੇ ਇਹ ਪੁੱਛਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗਸ਼ੂਰ ਤੋਂ ਘਰ ਵਾਪਸ ਕਿਉਂ ਸੱਦਿਆ ਸੀ। ਜੇਕਰ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੱਕਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਤਾਂ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੀ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਗਸ਼ੂਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਹੁਣ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਣ ਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਦੇ। ਜੇਕਰ ਮੈਂ ਕੋਈ ਪਾਪ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਵੱਢ ਸੁੱਟੇ।”

ਯਰਮਿਆਹ 2:22

ਉਹ ਆਦਮੀ ਆਪਣੇ-ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਝੂਠ ਆਖਦਾ। ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੇਖਦਾ, ਇਸੇ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਮੁਆਫ਼ੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਗਦਾ।

ਪਰ ਲੋਕ ਪਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਪਿਆਸੇ ਸਨ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੂਸਾ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤਾਂ ਕਰਨੀਆਂ ਜਾਰੀ ਰੱਖੀਆਂ। ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਮਿਸਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਕਿਉਂ ਲਿਆਏ? ਕੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇੱਥੇ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਲਿਆਏ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਪਸ਼ੂ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਰ ਜਾਣ?”

ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਇਹ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਜੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਮਿਸਰ ਦੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੇ ਹੀ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ। ਘੱਟੋ-ਘੱਟ ਓੱਥੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਖਾਣ ਲਈ ਤਾਂ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਸੀ। ਸਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਖਾਣ ਲਈ ਤਾਂ ਕਾਫ਼ੀ ਸੀ। ਸਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਖਾਣ ਲਈ ਲੋੜੀਂਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਭੋਜਨ ਸੀ। ਪਰ ਹੁਣ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇੱਥੇ ਮਾਰੂਥਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੈ ਆਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅਤੇ ਇੱਥੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਭੁੱਖ ਨਾਲ ਮਰ ਜਾਵਾਂਗੇ।”
ਖ਼ਰੋਜ 14:12
ਅਸੀਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਵਾਪਰੇਗੀ। ਮਿਸਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ, ‘ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨੀ ਕਰਕੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਪਰੇਸ਼ਾਨ ਨਾ ਕਰ। ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇੱਥੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਮਿਸਰੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਗੁਲਾਮੀ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ।’ ਸਾਡੇ ਲਈ, ਇੱਥੇ ਆਕੇ ਮਾਰੂਥਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਰਨ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਓੱਥੇ ਗੁਲਾਮ ਬਣਕੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਵੱਧੇਰੇ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ।”
ਪੈਦਾਇਸ਼ 3:12
ਆਦਮੀ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਜਿਹੜੀ ਔਰਤ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਸਾਜੀ ਸੀ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਰੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਫ਼ਲ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਖਾ ਲਿਆ।”
