Genesis 50:10
ਉਹ ਯਰਦਨ ਨਦੀ ਦੇ ਪੂਰਬ ਵੱਲ ਗੋਰੇਨ-ਹਾ-ਆਤਾਦ ਵੱਲ ਗਏ। ਇਸ ਸਥਾਨ ਉੱਤੇ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਸਸੱਕਾਰ ਲਈ ਲੰਮੀਆਂ ਰੀਤਾਂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ। ਇਹ ਸਸੱਕਾਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਰੀਤਾਂ ਸੱਤਾਂ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਜਾਰੀ ਰਹੀਆਂ।

ਫ਼ਿਰ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨੋ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਹੱਡੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਬੇਸ ਦੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਬਲੂਤ ਦੇ ਬਿਰਛ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਦੱਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਤਦ ਯਾਬੇਸ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਪਰਗਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਤ ਦਿਨ ਤੱਕ ਵਰਤ ਰੱਖਿਆ।
Genesis 50:4
ਸੱਤਰ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਮਗਰੋਂ, ਸੋਗ ਦਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਖਤਮ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਨੇ ਫ਼ਿਰਊਨ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਫ਼ਿਰਊਨ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਦੱਸੋ:

ਕਨਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੋਰੇਨ-ਹਾ-ਆਤਾਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਸੱਕਾਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਰੀਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਿਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੋਚਿਆ, “ਇਹ ਮਿਸਰੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਸੋਗ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਵੱਡਾ ਅਵਸਰ ਹੈ।” ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਜਗ਼੍ਹਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਬੇਲ-ਮਿੱਸਰਾਈਮ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਯਰਦਨ ਨਦੀ ਦੇ ਪਾਰ ਹੈ।
Numbers 19:11
ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਬੰਦਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਲਾਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਛੂਹ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਸੱਤਾਂ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਅਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਰਹੇਗਾ।

ਮੂਸਾ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਇਹ ਉਹ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਉਦੋਂ ਆਖੀਆਂ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਯਰਦਨ ਦੀ ਵਾਦੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਰੂਥਲ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਨ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਯਰਦਨ ਨਦੀ ਦੇ ਪੂਰਬ ਵੱਲ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਜਗ਼੍ਹਾ ਸੂਫ਼ ਦੇ ਦੂਸਰੇ ਪਾਸੇ, ਪਾਰਾਨ ਪਰਬਤ, ਤੋਂਫ਼ਲ, ਲਾਬਾਨ ਹਸੇਰੋਥ ਅਤੇ ਦੀਜ਼ਾਹਾਬ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚਕਾਰ ਸੀ।
Deuteronomy 34:8
ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ 30 ਦਿਨ ਤੱਕ ਮੂਸਾ ਦਾ ਸੋਗ ਮਨਾਇਆ। ਉਹ ਸੋਗ ਦਾ ਸਮਾ ਖਤਮ ਹੋਣ ਤੱਕ ਮੋਆਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਯਰਦਨ ਵਾਦੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਰਹੇ।
