Genesis 42:22
ਫ਼ੇਰ ਰਊਬੇਨ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਮੁੰਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਮੰਦਾ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ। ਪਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਣੀ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਹੁਣ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਉਸਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਦੀ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਮਿਲ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।”

| saying, | אֲלֵיכֶ֧ם׀ | ʾălêkem | uh-lay-HEM |
| Do not | לֵאמֹ֛ר | lēʾmōr | lay-MORE |
| sin | אַל | ʾal | al |
| child; the against | תֶּֽחֶטְא֥וּ | teḥeṭʾû | teh-het-OO |
| and ye would not | בַיֶּ֖לֶד | bayyeled | va-YEH-led |
| hear? | וְלֹ֣א | wĕlōʾ | veh-LOH |
| behold, therefore, | שְׁמַעְתֶּ֑ם | šĕmaʿtem | sheh-ma-TEM |
| also | וְגַם | wĕgam | veh-ɡAHM |
| his blood | דָּמ֖וֹ | dāmô | da-MOH |
| is required. | הִנֵּ֥ה | hinnē | hee-NAY |
