Genesis 35:10
ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਬਦਲ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ। ਹੁਣ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਤੇਰਾ ਨਵਾਂ ਨਾਮ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।” ਇਸ ਲਈ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਵਾਂ ਨਾਮ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
