Genesis 19:37
ਵੱਡੀ ਧੀ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਨਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਸਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੋਆਬ ਰੱਖਿਆ। ਮੋਆਬ ਸਾਰੇ ਅਜੋਕੇ ਮੋਆਬੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਹੈ।

ਮੈਂ ਰੂਥ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਵਜੋਂ ਖਰੀਦ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਸਵਰਗਵਾਸੀ ਬੰਦੇ ਦੀ ਜਾਇਦਾਦ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਰਹੇ। ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਵਰਗਵਾਸੀ ਬੰਦੇ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਗਵਾਹ ਹੋ।”
Judges 3:1
ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋਰਨਾ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਛੱਡ ਜਾਣ ਲਈ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ। ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਰੱਖ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ। ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਕਨਾਨ ਦੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਬਜ਼ਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀ ਲੜਾਈ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਲਿਆ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਦਿੱਤਾ। (ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦੇਣ ਲਈ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਲੜਾਈਆਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੜੀਆਂ ਸਨ।) ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇਸ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਇਹ ਹਨ:
Deuteronomy 23:3
“ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਅੰਮੋਨੀ ਜਾਂ ਮੋਆਬੀ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਸਭਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸੱਕਦਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ 10ਵੀ ਪੀੜੀ ਦੇ ਉੱਤਰਾਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਜਾਂ ਉਸਤੋਂ ਵੱਧੇਰੇ ਵੀ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਸਮਾਜ ਦਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸੱਕਦੇ।
Deuteronomy 2:19
ਤੁਸੀਂ ਅੰਮੋਨੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਜ਼ਦੀਕ ਜਾਉਂਗੇ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰੇਸ਼ਾਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੜਨਾ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਵਾਂਗਾ। ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਲੂਤ ਦੇ ਉੱਤਰਾਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।’”
Numbers 24:1
ਬਿਲਆਮ ਦਾ ਤੀਸਰਾ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਬਿਲਆਮ ਨੇ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਅਸੀਸ ਦੇਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਬਿਲਆਮ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਾਲੇ ਇਲਮ ਰਾਹੀ ਬਦਲਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ। ਪਰ ਬਿਲਆਮ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਮੋੜਕੇ ਮਾਰੂਥਲ ਵੱਲ ਦੇਖਿਆ।
Numbers 22:1
ਬਿਲਆਮ ਅਤੇ ਮੋਆਬ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਮੋਆਬ ਵਿੱਚਲੀ ਯਰਦਨ ਵਾਦੀ ਵੱਲ ਚੱਲੇ ਗਏ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਯਰੀਹੋ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਯਰਦਨ ਨਦੀ ਨੇੜੇ ਡੇਰਾ ਲਾਇਆ।
Numbers 21:29
ਤੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਾਏ, ਮੋਆਬ। ਤੂੰ ਕੇਮੋਸ਼ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਗਵਾ ਲਏ ਹਨ। ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਭਗੌੜੇ ਹਨ। ਉਸਦੀਆਂ ਧੀਆਂ, ਅਮੋਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਸੀਹੋਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਕੈਦੀ ਬਣਾ ਲਈਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ।
