Ezra 5
1 ਉਸ ਵਕਤ, ਹੱਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਦੋ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਜ਼ਕਰਯਾਹ ਨਬੀ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਨਾਂ ਤੇ ਭਵਿੱਖਬਾਣੀ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗੇ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਉੱਪਰ ਸੀ। ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਤਸਾਹਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਜੋ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਸਨ।
2 ਤਦ ਸ਼ਮਲਤੀਏਲ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਜ਼ਰੂੱਬਾਬਲ ਅਤੇ ਯਸਾਦਾਕ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਯੇਸ਼ੂਆ ਉੱਠੇ ਅਤੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ, ਬਨਾਉਣ ਲੱਗੇ। ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਨਬੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
3 ਉਸ ਵਕਤ, ਫਰਾਤ ਦਰਿਆ ਦੇ ਪੱਛਮੀ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਦਾ ਰਾਜਪਾਲ ਤਤਨਈ, ਸਬਰ ਬੋਜ਼ਨਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਬੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਆ ਕੇ ਆਖਣ ਲੱਗੇ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਿਸ ਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ ਮੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਉਸਾਰਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਦੀ ਇਸ ਕੰਧ ਨੂੰ ਖਤਮ ਕਰਨਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ?
4 ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਜਿਹੜੇ ਇਸ ਮੰਦਰ ਦਾ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਉੱਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੀ ਨਾਂ ਹਨ?”
5 ਪਰ ਦੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਉੱਪਰ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਇਮਾਰਤਕਾਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਮਾਰਤ ਬਨਾਉਣੀ ਤਦ ਤੀਕ ਨਾ ਛੱਡੀ ਜਦ ਤੀਕ ਇਹ ਖਬਰ ਦਾਰਾ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਤੀਕ ਨਾ ਪਹੁੰਚੀ। ਉਹ ਤਦ ਤੀਕ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਜਦ ਤੀਕ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਜਵਾਬ ਚਿੱਠੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਨਾ ਭੇਜਿਆ।
6 ਫਰਾਤ ਦਰਿਆ ਦੇ ਪੱਛਮੀ ਪਾਸੇ ਦਾ ਹਾਕਮ ਤਤਨਈ, ਸ਼ਬਰ ਬੇਜ਼ਨਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਹਿਯੋਗੀਆਂ ਨੇ, ਜੋ ਦਰਿਆ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਦੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਨਿਰੀਖਕ ਸਨ, ਦਾਰਾ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਚਿੱਠੀ ਦੀ ਨਕਲ ਭੇਜੀ।
7 ਉਸ ਚਿੱਠੀ ਦੀ ਨਕਲ ਇਉਂ ਸੀ: ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦਾਰਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਲਾਮ!
8 ਹੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ! ਤੈਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਸੂਬੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਹਾਨ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਏ। ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਉਸ ਮੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡੇ ਪੱਥਰ ਨਾਲ ਬਣਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਕੰਧਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੱਕੜ ਦੀਆਂ ਵੱਡੀਆਂ ਸ਼ਤੀਰਾਂ ਪਾ ਲੱਗਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਲੋਕ ਬੜੀ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਨਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਜਲਦੀ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ, ਇਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਜਲਦੀ ਪੂਰਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
9 ਜਿਹੜੇ ਕੰਮ ਉਹ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਉਸ ਬਾਬਤ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਸਵਾਲ ਕੀਤੇ। ਅਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਕਿਸਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਮੰਦਰ ਉਸਾਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਦੀ ਕੰਧ ਨੂੰ ਫਿਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਨਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ?”
10 ਅਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਵਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਵੀ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ। ਅਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਓ ਵੀ ਲਿਖਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਵੇ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਕਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਨ?
11 ਜਿਹੜਾ ਜਵਾਬ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਉਹ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੈ: “ਅਸੀਂ ਧਰਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਦੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਦਾਸ ਹਾਂ। ਅਸੀਂ ਉਹ ਮੰਦਰ ਬਣਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਮਹਾਨ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਸੀ।
12 ਪਰ ਸਾਡੇ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਦੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿਤ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਬਲ ਦੇ ਕਸਦੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨਬੂਕਦਨੱਸਰ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਤਦ ਨਬੂਕਦਨੱਸਰ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਅਤੇ ਇੱਥੋਂ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਬਰਦਸਤੀ ਕੈਦੀ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਬਾਬਲ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਗਿਆ।
13 ਪਰ ਬਾਬਲ ਦੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਕੋਰਸ਼ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਸਾਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸੇ ਕੋਰਸ਼ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਮੰਦਰ ਮੁੜ ਬਨਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
14 ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਕੋਰਸ਼ ਨੇ ਬਾਬਲ ਵਿੱਚਲੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਝੂਠੇ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸੋਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਕੱਢੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਬੂਕਦਨੱਸਰ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੱਢ ਕੇ ਬਾਬਲ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੈ ਆਇਆ ਸੀ। ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਕੋਰਸ਼ ਨੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਡਾਕਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ੇਸਬੱਸਰ ਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਪਾਲ ਹੋਣ ਲਈ ਚੁਣਿਆ ਸੀ।”
15 ਤਦ ਕੋਰਸ਼ ਨੇ ਸ਼ੇਸਬੱਸਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੂੰ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਭਾਂਡਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਥਾਂ ਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਮੰਦਰ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਜਾਵੇਂ।”
16 ਫ਼ੇਰ ਸ਼ੇਸਬੱਸਰ ਨੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਦੀ ਨੀਂਹ ਧਰੀ। ਉਸ ਵਕਤ ਤੋਂ ਹੁਣ ਤੀਕ ਇਹ ਬਣ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਜ ਤੀਕ ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਇਆ।
17 ਇਸ ਲਈ ਹੁਣ, ਜੇਕਰ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਠੀਕ ਸਮਝਣ ਤਾਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਦਫਤਰੀ ਲਿਖਤਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਬਾਬਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਨ ਪੜਤਾਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇ ਕਿ ਕੋਰਸ਼ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਮੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਨਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਸੀ ਜਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ। ਫਿਰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਮਾਨ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ਕੀ ਤੂੰ ਇਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਕੀ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ
1 Then the prophets, Haggai the prophet, and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied unto the Jews that were in Judah and Jerusalem in the name of the God of Israel, even unto them.
2 Then rose up Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and began to build the house of God which is at Jerusalem: and with them were the prophets of God helping them.
3 At the same time came to them Tatnai, governor on this side the river, and Shethar-boznai, and their companions, and said thus unto them, Who hath commanded you to build this house, and to make up this wall?
4 Then said we unto them after this manner, What are the names of the men that make this building?
5 But the eye of their God was upon the elders of the Jews, that they could not cause them to cease, till the matter came to Darius: and then they returned answer by letter concerning this matter.
6 The copy of the letter that Tatnai, governor on this side the river, and Shethar-boznai, and his companions the Apharsachites, which were on this side the river, sent unto Darius the king:
7 They sent a letter unto him, wherein was written thus; Unto Darius the king, all peace.
8 Be it known unto the king, that we went into the province of Judea, to the house of the great God, which is builded with great stones, and timber is laid in the walls, and this work goeth fast on, and prospereth in their hands.
9 Then asked we those elders, and said unto them thus, Who commanded you to build this house, and to make up these walls?
10 We asked their names also, to certify thee, that we might write the names of the men that were the chief of them.
11 And thus they returned us answer, saying, We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and build the house that was builded these many years ago, which a great king of Israel builded and set up.
12 But after that our fathers had provoked the God of heaven unto wrath, he gave them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, the Chaldean, who destroyed this house, and carried the people away into Babylon.
13 But in the first year of Cyrus the king of Babylon the same king Cyrus made a decree to build this house of God.
14 And the vessels also of gold and silver of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took out of the temple that was in Jerusalem, and brought them into the temple of Babylon, those did Cyrus the king take out of the temple of Babylon, and they were delivered unto one, whose name was Sheshbazzar, whom he had made governor;
15 And said unto him, Take these vessels, go, carry them into the temple that is in Jerusalem, and let the house of God be builded in his place.
16 Then came the same Sheshbazzar, and laid the foundation of the house of God which is in Jerusalem: and since that time even until now hath it been in building, and yet it is not finished.
17 Now therefore, if it seem good to the king, let there be search made in the king’s treasure house, which is there at Babylon, whether it be so, that a decree was made of Cyrus the king to build this house of God at Jerusalem, and let the king send his pleasure to us concerning this matter.
1 When Mordecai perceived all that was done, Mordecai rent his clothes, and put on sackcloth with ashes, and went out into the midst of the city, and cried with a loud and a bitter cry;
2 And came even before the king’s gate: for none might enter into the king’s gate clothed with sackcloth.
3 And in every province, whithersoever the king’s commandment and his decree came, there was great mourning among the Jews, and fasting, and weeping, and wailing; and many lay in sackcloth and ashes.
4 So Esther’s maids and her chamberlains came and told it her. Then was the queen exceedingly grieved; and she sent raiment to clothe Mordecai, and to take away his sackcloth from him: but he received it not.
5 Then called Esther for Hatach, one of the king’s chamberlains, whom he had appointed to attend upon her, and gave him a commandment to Mordecai, to know what it was, and why it was.
6 So Hatach went forth to Mordecai unto the street of the city, which was before the king’s gate.
7 And Mordecai told him of all that had happened unto him, and of the sum of the money that Haman had promised to pay to the king’s treasuries for the Jews, to destroy them.
8 Also he gave him the copy of the writing of the decree that was given at Shushan to destroy them, to shew it unto Esther, and to declare it unto her, and to charge her that she should go in unto the king, to make supplication unto him, and to make request before him for her people.
9 And Hatach came and told Esther the words of Mordecai.
10 Again Esther spake unto Hatach, and gave him commandment unto Mordecai;
11 All the king’s servants, and the people of the king’s provinces, do know, that whosoever, whether man or woman, shall come unto the king into the inner court, who is not called, there is one law of his to put him to death, except such to whom the king shall hold out the golden sceptre, that he may live: but I have not been called to come in unto the king these thirty days.
12 And they told to Mordecai Esther’s words.
13 Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king’s house, more than all the Jews.
14 For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?
15 Then Esther bade them return Mordecai this answer,
16 Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.
17 So Mordecai went his way, and did according to all that Esther had commanded him.
