ਇਸ ਲਈ ਲੋਕ ਮੂਸਾ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਝਗੜਨ ਲੱਗੇ। ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਸਾਨੂੰ ਪੀਣ ਲਈ ਪਾਣੀ ਦਿਉ।” ਮੂਸਾ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਕਿਉਂ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹੋ? ਤੁਸੀਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਪਰੱਖ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ? ਕੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਹ ਸੋਚਦੇ ਹੋ ਕਿ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ?”

Deuteronomy 31:17
ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਮੈਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉੱਪਰ ਬਹੁਤ ਕਹਿਰਵਾਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਵਾਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ। ਮੈਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਤਬਾਹ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਵਾਪਰਨਗੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਮੁਸੀਬਤਾਂ ਪੈਣਗੀਆਂ। ਫ਼ੇਰ ਇਹ ਆਖਣਗੇ, ‘ਮੰਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਵਾਪਰੀਆਂ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਸਾਡਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।’
Exodus 34:9
“ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਜੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ, ਤਾਂ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਚੱਲੋ। ਮੈਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਜ਼ਿੱਦੀ ਲੋਕ ਹਨ। ਪਰ ਸਾਡੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਮੰਦੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਲਈ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਮਾਫ਼ ਕਰ ਦਿਉ। ਸਾਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਨ ਕਰ ਲਵੋ।”
