ਹੁਣ ਬਿਨਯਾਮੀਨੀ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਸਮੂਹ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਮਾਰਦਕਈ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਸੀ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਯਾਈਰ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਕੀਸ਼ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ। ਮਾਰਦਕਈ ਸ਼ੂਸ਼ਨ ਜਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਮਹਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ।

ਸ਼ਿਮਈ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੂੰ ਸਰਾਪਦਾ ਦਾਊਦ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਤਦ ਬਹੁਰੀਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਇਆ। ਉੱਥੇ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਦੇ ਘਰਾਣੇ ਦੀ ਕੁੱਲ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਗੇਰਾ ਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸ਼ਿਮਈ ਨਿਕਲਿਆ। ਉਹ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਦੇ ਬੋਲ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਬਾਹਰ ਨਿਕਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਇੰਝ ਬਾਰ-ਬਾਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਗਿਆ।

Esther 1:2
ਅਹਸ਼ਵੇਰੋਸ਼ ਪਾਤਸਾਹ ਨੇ ਸ਼ੂਸ਼ਨ ਜਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਮਹਿਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਤਖਤ ਤੋਂ ਰਾਜ ਕੀਤਾ।

Esther 2:3
ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਂਤ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੁਣੇ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਇਹ ਆਗੂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਖੂਬਸੂਰਤ ਅਤੇ ਅਣਵਿਆਹੀਆਂ ਕੁੜੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ੂਸ਼ਨ ਜਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਮਹਿਲ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਆਉਣ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੁੜੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਮਹਿਲ ਦੇ ਜਨਾਨਖਾਨੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਖੁਸਰੇ ਹੇਗਈ ਦੀ ਦੇਖ-ਰੇਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿਣਗੀਆਂ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਜਨਾਨਖਾਨੇ ਦਾ ਸਰਪ੍ਰਸਤ ਹੈ। ਫ਼ਿਰ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖੂਬਸੂਰਤੀ ਲਈ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ।

ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਫਾਟਕ ਤੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਨੌਕਰ ਹੁਣ ਹਾਮਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਝੁਕੱ ਕੇ ਸਲਾਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਤੇ ਸਨਮਾਨ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਆਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਸਨ। ਪਰ ਮਾਰਦਕਈ ਨੇ ਝੁਕ ਕੇ ਹਾਮਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਦਰ ਦੇਣ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

Esther 5:1
ਅਸਤਰ ਦਾ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਨਾ ਤੀਜੇ ਦਿਨ, ਅਸਤਰ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਪਹਿਰਾਵਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਕੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਮਹਿਲ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰਲੇ ਵਿਹੜੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਖੜੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ। ਇਹ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਰਾਜੇ ਦੇ ਦੀਵਾਨ ਖਾਨੇ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਸੀ। ਰਾਜਾ ਦੀਵਾਨ ਖਾਨੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਵੱਲ ਮੂੰਹ ਕਰਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਤਖਤ ਤੇ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ।

ਯਹੂਦੀ ਮਾਰਦਕਈ ਅਹਸ਼ਵੇਰੋਸ਼ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਜੇ ਰੁਤਬੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਣ ਹਸਤੀ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਯਹੂਦੀ ਸਾਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਦਰ-ਮਾਣ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ। ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਤਤ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਭਲਾਈ ਲਈ ਬਹੁਤ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤੇ ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਯਹੂਦੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਲਿਆਇਆਂ।
