ਇੰਝ ਹੀ ਇੱਕ ਵਾਰ, ਦਾਊਦ ਇੱਕ ਗੜ੍ਹੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਝ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀ ਸਿਪਾਹੀ ਬੈਤਲਹਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਨ।

ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀ ਸਿਪਾਹੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਦਸਤਾ ਮਿਕਮਾਸ਼ ਦੇ ਪਹਾੜੀ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੌਕਸ ਸੀ।

ਯੋਨਾਥਾਨ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨੌਜੁਆਨ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਨੇ ਜਿਸਨੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਸਤਰ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਚੱਲ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਸੁੰਨਤੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਡੇਰੇ ਵੱਲ ਚੱਲੀਏ। ਕੀ ਪਤਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਡੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰੇ। ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੋਕ ਸੱਕਦਾ। ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਫ਼ਰਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਕਿ ਸਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਥੋੜੇ ਸਿਪਾਹੀ ਹਨ ਜਾਂ ਬਹੁਤੇ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਜੋ ਚਾਹੇ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਦਾ ਹੈ।”

ਦਾਊਦ ਦਾ ਵੱਖੋ-ਵੱਖ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਦਾਊਦ ਗਥ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਨਿਕਲ ਕੇ ਅਦੁੱਲਾਮ ਦੀ ਗੁਫ਼ਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਭੱਜ ਆਇਆ। ਜਦੋਂ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਬੰਧੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਾ ਕਿ ਦਾਊਦ ਅਦੁੱਲਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਉੱਥੇ ਆਏ।
1 Samuel 24:22
ਤਦ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਨੂੰ ਵਚਨ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸੌਂਹ ਚੁੱਕੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰੇਂਗਾ। ਤਦ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਘਰ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਪਸ ਪਰਤ ਗਿਆ। ਦਾਊਦ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਥੀ ਕਿਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਤ ਗਏ।
