ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਅਬੀਸ਼ਈ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਵੇਖੋ! ਮੇਰਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ (ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਤਾਂ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਬਿਨਯਾਮੀਨ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਚੋ ਇਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਸ਼ਿਮਈ) ਨੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਰਾਪ ਦੇਣ ਦਾ ਵੱਧੇਰੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣ ਦਿਓ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਾਪ ਦੇਣ ਦੇਵੋ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।”
