ਦਾਊਦ ਦਾ ਬਥ-ਸ਼ਬਾ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਆਹ ਜਦੋਂ ਬਥ-ਸ਼ਬਾ ਨੇ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਸਦਾ ਪਤੀ ਊਰਿੱਯਾਹ ਮਰ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਲਈ ਸੋਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੋਣ ਲਗੀ।

ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਯੋਆਬ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਾਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਆਪਣੇ ਵਸਤਰ ਫ਼ਾੜ ਸੁੱਟੋ ਅਤੇ ਉਦਾਸੀ ਦੇ ਵਸਤਰ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰੋ। ਅਬਨੇਰ ਲਈ ਸ਼ੋਕ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕਰੋ।” ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਅਬਨੇਰ ਨੂੰ ਹਬਰੋਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਫ਼ਨਾਇਆ। ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਬਨੇਰ ਦੀ ਕਬਰ ਉੱਪਰ ਰੋਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਵੀ ਰੋਏ।

ਯੋਆਬ ਨੇ ਤਕੋਆਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ਵਾਹਕ ਭੇਜਕੇ ਉੱਥੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਸਿਆਣੀ ਔਰਤ ਬੁਲਵਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੂੰ ਸੋਗੀ ਪਹਿਰਾਵਾ ਪਾਕੇ ਸੋਗ ਦਾ ਸਾਂਗ ਰਚਾਅ ਅਤੇ ਇਉਂ ਸਾਂਗ ਕਰ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਇੱਕ ਔਰਤ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਮਰਨ ਉਪਰੰਤ ਉਸ ਲਈ ਕਿੰਨੇ ਦਿਨ ਵੈਣ ਪਾਉਂਦੀ ਤੇ ਰੋਂਦੀ-ਪਿੱਟਦੀ ਹੈ।
