ਤਦ ਅਲੀਸ਼ਾ ਨੇ ਗੇਹਾਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਤਿਆਰ ਹੋ, ਮੇਰੀ ਲਾਠੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਫ਼ੜ ਕੇ ਜਾਹ। ਰਾਹ ’ਚ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਨਾ ਰੁਕੀ ਜੇਕਰ ਰਾਹ ’ਚ ਕੋਈ ਸ਼ੁਭਕਾਮਨਵਾਂ ਦੇਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ੁਭਕਾਮਨਵਾਂ ਨਾ ਦੇਵੀਂ। ਫੇਰ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੋਟੀ ਬੱਚੇ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਾ ਦੇਵੀ ਜੇਕਰ ਰਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਕੁਝ ਪੁੱਛੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਤਰ ਨਾ ਦੇਵੀਂ।”

2 Kings 2:8
ਏਲੀਯਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਕੋਟ ਲਾਹ ਕੇ ਵਲੇਟਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਪਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਿਆ। ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਪਾਣੀ ਖੱਬੇ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਜੇ ਦੋ ਹਿੱਸਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੰਡ ਗਿਆ। ਫ਼ੇਰ ਏਲੀਯਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਅਲੀਸ਼ਾ ਸੁੱਕੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਦੀ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਯਰਦਨ ਨਦੀ ਦੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਚੱਲੇ ਗਏ।

ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੂਸਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਹਾਰੂਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੋਟੀ ਫ਼ੜਕੇ ਨਦੀਆਂ, ਨਹਿਰਾਂ, ਝੀਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਹਰ ਓਸ ਥਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਫ਼ੈਲਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਆਖ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਉਹ ਪਾਣੀ ਜਮ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕਰੇਗਾ, ਸਾਰਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਉਹ ਲੱਕੜ ਦੇ ਜਾਂ ਪੱਥਰ ਦੇ ਗਮਲਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਭਰਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ, ਖੂਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਦਲ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।”
