ਆਕੀਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਊਦ ਉੱਤੇ ਇਤਬਾਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ। ਆਕੀਸ਼ ਨੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੋਚਿਆ, “ਹੁਣ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੋਕ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਫ਼ਰਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੂੰ ਬੜੀ ਘਿਰਣਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਹੁਣ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਉਮਰ ਭਰ ਮੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੇਗਾ।”

ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਖਬਰ ਸੁਣੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਨੇ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਗੈਰੀਜ਼ਨ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾਇਆ ਸੀ। ਹੁਣ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀ ਸੱਚਮੁੱਚ ਹੀ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਨਫ਼ਰਤ ਕਰਨਗੇ।” ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਨ ਲਈ ਗਿਲਗਾਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।
