ਤਦ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਸਭ ਆਪੋ-ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਤਲਵਾਰਾਂ ਬੰਨ੍ਹੋ।” ਤਾਂ ਦਾਊਦ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਪੋ-ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਤਲਵਾਰਾਂ ਬੰਨ੍ਹੀਆਂ। 400 ਦੇ ਕਰੀਬ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ 200 ਆਦਮੀ ਰਸਦ ਲਈ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਠਹਿਰੇ।

1 Samuel 30:9
ਦਾਊਦ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਸਰੀ ਗੁਲਾਮ ਦਾ ਮਿਲਣਾ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ 600 ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਬਸੋਰ ਦੀ ਖੱਡ ਤੱਕ ਆਏ ਅਤੇ 200 ਦੇ ਕਰੀਬ ਬੰਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਹੀ ਰਹੇ। ਉਹ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਰਹੇ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਸਨ ਇੰਨੇ ਥੱਕੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ ਕਿ ਚੱਲਣੋ ਅਸਮਰਥ ਸਨ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਦਾਊਦ ਅਤੇ 400 ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਅਮਾਲੇਕੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਪਿੱਛਾ ਕੀਤਾ।

ਬਾਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਦੇ ਚੋਗੇ ਦੀ ਨੁੱਕਰ ਕੱਟਣ ਦਾ ਅਫ਼ਸੋਸ ਲੱਗਾ।
