ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਜਵਾਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਤੂੰ ਕਈਲਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾ। ਮੈਂ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੇਰੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ।”

ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਨੇ ਅਹੀਮਲਕ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਯੱਸੀ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਗੋਂਦਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਗੁੰਦੀਆਂ? ਤੂੰ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਟੀ ਅਤੇ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਵੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਲਈ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਅੱਗੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਵੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਹੁਣ ਉਹ ਦਾਊਦ ਠੀਕ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਪਰ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਉਡੀਕ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।”

ਇਹ ਕੋਈ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਵਾਰ ਮੈਂ ਪਰੇਮਸ਼ੁਰ ਅੱਗੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ। ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਜਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੰਬੰਧੀਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੁਹਮਤ ਨਾ ਲਗਾ। ਅਸੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਹਾਂ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਤਾ ਕਿ ਅਸਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੀ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ?”

ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਕੀ ਕਈਲਾਹ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਦੇ ਸਪੁਰਦ ਕਰ ਦੇਣਗੇ?” ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਹਾਂ ਉਹ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕਰਨਗੇ।”
