ਤਦ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਵੇਖ, ਕੱਲ੍ਹ ਨਵੇਂ ਚੰਨ ਦੀ ਦਾਵਤ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਖਾਣਾ ਪਵੇਗਾ, ਪਰ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਮ ਤੱਕ ਖੇਤਾਂ ’ਚ ਲੁਕੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਦੇ।

ਜੇਕਰ ਤੇਰਾ ਪਿਉ ਵੇਖੇ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖੀਂ, ‘ਦਾਊਦ ਬੈਤਲਹਮ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਪਨੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਮਨਾਉਣਾ ਸੀ, ਮਹੀਨੇ ਦੀ ਬਲੀ ਦੀ ਦਾਵਤ ਹੋਣੀ ਸੀ। ਤਾਂ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਬੈਤਲਹਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਕੋਲ ਜਾਕੇ ਇਹ ਦਾਵਤ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਮੰਗੀ।’
