ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਨੇ ਕੇਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਅਮਾਲੇਕ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਇੱਥੋਂ ਭੱਜ ਜਾਵੋ। ਤਦ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਅਮਾਲੇਕੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ। ਜਦੋਂ ਇਸਰਾਲੀ ਮਿਸਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਨਿਕਲਕੇ ਆਏ ਸਨ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉੱਪਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਵਿਖਾਈ ਸੀ।” ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕੇਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਅਮਾਲੇਕ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਚੱਲੇ ਗਏ।

Genesis 18:25
ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ। ਤੈਨੂੰ ਬੁਰੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨ ਲਈ 50 ਨੇਕ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ। ਜੇ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਵਾਪਰੇਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਨੇਕ ਬੰਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਬਦ ਬੰਦੇ ਇੱਕੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਹੋਣਗੇ-ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਮਿਲੇਗੀ। ਤੂੰ ਸਾਰੀ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਮੁਨਸਿਫ਼ ਹੈਂ। ਮੈਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਸਹੀ ਗੱਲ ਕਰੇਂਗਾ।”
