ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਨੇ ਜਵਾਬ ’ਚ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਠੀਕ ਹੈ! ਮੈਂ ਪਾਪ ਕੀਤੇ! ਪਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਪਰਤ ਆ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਆਦਰ ਕਰ। ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਮੁੜ ਚੱਲ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਕਰਾਂ।”

Habakkuk 2:4

ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਮ੍ਰਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਉੱਥੇ ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕ ਸਨ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ-ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਭਲਾ ਸਮਝਦੇ ਸਨ। ਉਹ ਬਾਕੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਹੀਣੇ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਸਨ। ਤਾਂ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਾਂਤ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
2 Timothy 3:5
ਉਹ ਲੋਕ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਿਖਾਵਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿਣਗੇ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ “ਉਪਾਸਨਾ” ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਣ। ਪਰ ਜਿਸ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਜਿਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਤਾ ਚੱਲਦਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ “ਉਪਾਸਨਾ” ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੇ। ਤਿਮੋਥਿਉਸ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਰਹਿਣਾ।
