ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਨੇ ਸਾਰਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਬਹਾਦੁਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਜਾਰਿਆ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਬੜੀ ਸਖਤ ਲੜਾਈ ਲੜੀ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਕੋਈ ਬਹਾਦੁਰ ਜਾਂ ਤਾਕਤਵਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵੇਖਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੇਨਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਰਤੀ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੋਲ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਜੋ ਉਸਦੀ ਰੱਖਵਾਲੀ ਕਰਦਾ।

ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਨੇ ਸਾਰਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਬਹਾਦੁਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਜਾਰਿਆ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਬੜੀ ਸਖਤ ਲੜਾਈ ਲੜੀ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਕੋਈ ਬਹਾਦੁਰ ਜਾਂ ਤਾਕਤਵਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵੇਖਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੇਨਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਰਤੀ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੋਲ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਜੋ ਉਸਦੀ ਰੱਖਵਾਲੀ ਕਰਦਾ।
