ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਹੋਰ ਭੁੱਲ ਕਰਨਾ ਪਰ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਇੱਕ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਡੀ ਗਲਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ। ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀ ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਥੱਕੇ ਹੋਏ ਅਤੇ ਭੁੱਖੇ-ਭਾਣੇ ਸਨ ਉਹ ਬੜੇ ਔਖੇ ਹੋਏ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਨੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੌਂਹ ਚੁਕਾ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ, “ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅੱਜ ਸ਼ਾਮ ਤੀਕ ਭੋਜਨ ਖਾਵੇ, ਜਦ ਤੱਕ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾ ਨਾ ਦੇਵਾਂ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਮਿਲੇਗੀ।” ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀ ਸਿਪਾਹੀ ਨੇ ਭੋਜਨ ਨਾ ਕੀਤਾ।

ਪਰ ਯੋਨਾਥਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਸੌਂਹ ਬਾਰੇ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਪਤਾ, ਜਿਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਨੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਸੌਂਹ ਚੁਕਾਈ ਸੀ ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਯੋਨਾਥਾਨ ਨੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਸੋਟੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਫ਼ੜੀ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ, ਉਸਦਾ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਿਰਾ ਸ਼ਹਿਦ ਨੂੰ ਛੁਹਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਝ ਸ਼ਹਿਦ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਲੱਗਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੂੰਹ ’ਚ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਚੰਗਾ ਮਹਿਸੂਸ ਕੀਤਾ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਸ਼ ਆ ਗਈ।

ਬਿਨਯਾਮੀਨ ਦੇ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਪਤਨੀਆਂ ਮਿਸਫ਼ਾਹ ਵਿਖੇ ਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਇਕਰਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਇਕਰਾਰ ਇਹ ਸੀ: “ਸਾਡੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਬੰਦਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਧੀ ਦਾ ਰਿਸ਼ਤਾ ਬਿਨਯਾਮੀਨ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰੇਗਾ।”

Numbers 21:2
ਤਾਂ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਖਾਸ ਇਕਰਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ: “ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਡੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰ। ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕੀਤਾ, ਤਾਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਅਰਪਣ ਕਰ ਦਿਆਂਗੇ। ਅਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਬਰਬਾਦ ਕਰ ਦਿਆਂਗੇ।”
Leviticus 27:29
ਜੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਖਾਸ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੀ ਸੁਗਾਤ ਕੋਈ ਬੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਪਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਖਰੀਦਿਆ ਜਾ ਸੱਕਦਾ। ਉਸ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
