ਪਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਪਾਪ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਝੂਠੇ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਤੇ ਕਬਜ਼ਾ ਲੈਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਤਬਾਹ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ।

Hosea 9:1

ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਸ਼ੇਆ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਕੇ ਇੱਕ ਵੇਸ਼ਵਾ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਆਹ ਕਰਵਾ ਜਿਸਦੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਚੋ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਏ ਹੋਣ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਦੇਸ ਦੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਵੇਸਵਾਵਾਂ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੀ ਸਲੂਕ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਬੇਵਫ਼ਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।”
Psalm 106:34
ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਨਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਿਆ ਪਰਾਈਆਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ। ਪਰ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਆਦੇਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੰਨਿਆ।
2 Chronicles 25:14
ਜਦੋਂ ਅਮਸਯਾਹ ਅਦੋਮੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਮੁੜਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਸੇਈਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਲ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਆਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਕਰਨੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਸਿਰ ਝੁਕਾਉਂਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਧੂਪ ਅਗਰਬਤੀ ਜਗਾਉਂਦਾ।

ਇਹ ਸਭ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਵਾਪਰਿਆ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਿ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਪਾਪ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਿਸਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਸਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੱਢ ਲਿਆਇਆ ਸੀ। ਅਤੇ ਮਿਸਰ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਫ਼ਿਰਊਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਇਆ ਸੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਹੋਰਾਂ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਵੀ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ।
Judges 8:33
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਗਿਦਾਊਨ ਮਰਿਆ, ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਇੱਕ ਵਾਰੀ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਵਫ਼ਾਦਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹੇ-ਉਹ ਬਆਲ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਲੱਗ ਪਏ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਬਆਲ ਬਰੀਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਦੇਵਤਾ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ।
Judges 2:17
ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਿਆਂਕਾਰਾ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਣੀ। ਉਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਵਫ਼ਾਦਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਨ, ਉਹ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਲੱਗੇ। ਅਤੀਤ ਵਿੱਚ, ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਮੰਨੇ ਸਨ। ਪਰ ਹੁਣ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀ ਬਦਲ ਗਏ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਮੰਨਣੋ ਹਟ ਗਏ ਸਨ।
Judges 2:12
ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਸਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਆਇਆ ਸੀ। ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ। ਪਰ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਲੱਗਣਾ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਲੇ-ਦੁਆਲੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਝੂਠੇ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗ ਪਏ। ਇਸਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਕਹਿਰਵਾਨ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
Deuteronomy 32:15
“ਹਰ ਯਸ਼ੁਰੂਨ ਮੋਟਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਝੋਟੇ ਵਾਂਗ ਛੜਾਂ ਮਾਰਦਾ ਸੀ। (ਹਾਂ, ਤੈਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਖੁਰਾਕ ਮਿਲੀ ਸੀ, ਤੂੰ ਮੋਟਾ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਰਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।) ਪਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਿਸਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਜਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਚੱਟਾਨ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਭੱਜ ਗਿਆ ਜਿਸਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਇਆ ਸੀ।
