ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਲੜਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੋਂ ਭੱਜ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀ ਗਿਲਬੋਆ ਦੇ ਪਹਾੜ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਰੇ ਗਏ।

ਅਗਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀ ਲੋਥਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਵਸਤਾਂ ਲੈਣ ਲਈ ਆਏ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਲੋਥਾਂ ਵੇਖੀਆਂ ਜੋ ਕਿ ਗਿਲਬੋਆ ਦੇ ਪਹਾੜ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਈਆਂ ਸਨ।

ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਜੰਗ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰੀ ਬਾਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਲੜਾਈ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਫ਼ੌਜਾਂ ਇਕੱਠੀਆਂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ। ਤਦ ਆਕੀਸ਼ ਨੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਕੀ ਤੂੰ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ ਕਿ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਾਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਲੜਾਈ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਜਾਣਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।”

ਸੋ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੋਕੇ ਆਏ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ੂਨੇਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਡੇਰੇ ਲਾਏ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਠਿਆਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਗਿਲਬੋਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਡੇਰੇ ਲਾ ਲਏ।

“ਦਾਊਦ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਆ ਸੱਕਦਾ” ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਿਪਾਹੀ ਅਫ਼ੇਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਝਰਨੇ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਜੋ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ ਜਾ ਡੇਰੇ ਲਾਏ।
2 Samuel 1:6
ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਸਿਪਾਹੀ ਨੇ ਜਵਾਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਮੈਂ ਗਿਲਬੋਆ ਪਰਬਤ ਦੇ ਉੱਪਰ ਸੀ। ਉੱਥੇ ਮੈਂ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨੇਜੇ ਉੱਪਰ ਝੁਕੇ ਹੋਏ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਹੈ। ਰੱਥ ਅਤੇ ਘੁੜਸਵਾਰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਜ਼ਦੀਕ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।

“ਹੇ ਗਿਲਬੋਆ ਦੇ ਪਰਬਤੋਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਤੇ ਨਾ ਤ੍ਰੇਲ ਪਵੇ ਨਾ ਬਾਰਿਸ਼। ਨਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਖੇਤਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਅਨਾਜ ਦੀ ਭੇਟ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਤੱਕ ਆਵੇ। ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉੱਥੇ ਸੂਰਮਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਢਾਲ ਪਲੀਤ ਹੋ ਗਈ। ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਦੀ ਢਾਲ ਤੇਲ ਨਾਲ ਮਸਹ ਵੀ ਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ।
2 Samuel 21:12
ਤਦ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਅਤੇ ਯੋਨਾਥਾਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਹੱਡੀਆਂ ਯਾਬੇਸ਼ ਗਿਲਆਦ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਲਈਆਂ ਯਾਬੇਸ਼ ਗਿਲਆਦ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਹੱਡੀਆਂ ਬੈਤ-ਸਾਨ ਵਿਖੇ ਖੁਲ੍ਹੇ-ਆਮ ਚੁਰਾ ਲਈਆਂ ਸਨ। ਇਹ ਉਹੀ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਹੈ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਨੂੰ ਗਿਲਬੋਆ ਪਰਬਤ ਤੇ ਮਾਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ, ਇਹ ਮੁਰਦਾ ਸ਼ਰੀਰ ਟੰਗ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਸਨ।
