ଅବ୍ରାହାମ ଓ ତାହାଙ୍କର ବଂଶଜମାନଙ୍କୁ ପ୍ରତିଜ୍ଞା ମିଳିଥିଲା ଯେ ସମାନେେ ସଂସାରର ଉତ୍ତରାଧିକାରୀ ହବେେ। କିନ୍ତୁ ଅବ୍ରାହାମ ଏହି ପ୍ରତିଶ୍ରୁତି ବ୍ଯବସ୍ଥା ପାଳନ କରିଥିବାରୁ ମିଳି ନଥିଲା। ବିଶ୍ବାସ ଦ୍ବାରା ସେ ପରମେଶ୍ବରଙ୍କଠା ରେ ଧାର୍ମିକ ହାଇେଥିବାରୁ ତାହାଙ୍କୁ ଏହି ପ୍ରତିଶ୍ରୁତି ମିଳିଥିଲା।
