1 Samuel 15
1 ଥରେ ଶାମକ୍ସ୍ଟଯଲେ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କକ୍ସ୍ଟ କହିଲେ, ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ମାେତେ ରାଜପଦ ରେ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଅଭିଷକେ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ପଠାଇଥିଲେ। ବର୍ତ୍ତମାନ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ବାର୍ତ୍ତା ଶକ୍ସ୍ଟଣ।
2 ସର୍ବଶକ୍ତିମାନ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ କହିଲେ, 'ଯେତବେେଳେ ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲୀୟମାନେ ମିଶରରକ୍ସ୍ଟ ବାହାରି ଆସିଲେ, ଅମାଲକେୀଯମାନେ ତାଙ୍କୁ କାନନେ ୟିବା ରେ ବାଧା ସୃଷ୍ଟି କରିବେ। ମୁ ଦେଖିଛି ଯାହା ସବୁ ଅମାଲକେୀଯମାନେ କରିଛନ୍ତି।
3 ବର୍ତ୍ତମାନ ଅମାଲକେୀଯ ବିରକ୍ସ୍ଟଦ୍ଧ ରେ ୟକ୍ସ୍ଟଦ୍ଧ ଘାଷେଣା କର। ତୁମ୍ଭେ ନିଶ୍ଚିତଭାବେ ଅମାଲକେୀଯମାନଙ୍କର ସର୍ବସ୍ବ ଧ୍ବଂସ କରିପାରିବ। ତୁମ୍ଭେ କିଛି ଜୀବନ୍ତ ଛାଡି ଆସିବ ନାହିଁ। ତୁମ୍ଭେ ସମସ୍ତ ପୁରୁଷ, ସ୍ତ୍ରୀ, େଛାଟପିଲା ଏପରିକି ଶିଶକ୍ସ୍ଟଛକ୍ସ୍ଟଆକକ୍ସ୍ଟ ମଧ୍ଯ ହତ୍ଯା କରିବ। ଆହକ୍ସ୍ଟରି ମଧ୍ଯ ସମାନଙ୍କେର ଗାଈ, ମେଣ୍ତା, ଓଟ ଓ ଗଧମାନଙ୍କୁ ହତ୍ଯା କରିବ।'
4 ଶାଉଲ ଟଲାଯୀମ୍ ରେ ସୈନ୍ଯ ଏକଜକ୍ସ୍ଟଟ କଲେ। ସଠାେରେ 2,00,000 ପଦାତିକ ଓ ଅନ୍ଯାନ୍ଯ 10,000 ଲୋକ ୟିହକ୍ସ୍ଟଦାର ଥିଲେ।
5 ତା'ପରେ ଶାଉଲ ଅମାଲକେ ସହରକକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଗଲେ ଏବଂ ଉପତ୍ୟକା ରେ ଅପେକ୍ଷା କଲେ।
6 ଶାଉଲ କନୋଯମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ୟାଅ, ଅମାଲକେ ଛାଡି ଗ୍ଭଲିୟାଅ। କାରଣ ମୁ ଅମାଲକେୀଯଙ୍କ ସହ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ହତ୍ଯା କରିବାକୁ ଗ୍ଭ ହେଁ ନାହିଁ। ତୁମ୍ଭମାନେେ ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲୀୟମାନଙ୍କୁ ମିଶର ଛାଡି ଆସିବା ବେଳେ ସମାନଙ୍କେୁ ଦୟା ପ୍ରଦର୍ଶନ କରିଥିଲ। ତେଣୁ କନେୀଯମାନେ ଅମାଲକେ ପ୍ରତ୍ଯାବର୍ତ୍ତନ କଲେ।
7 ଶାଉଲ ଅମାଲକମାନଙ୍କେୁ ପରାସ୍ତ କଲେ। ସେ ହବୀଲାଠାରକ୍ସ୍ଟ ମିଶର ସୀମାବର୍ତ୍ତୀ ଶକ୍ସ୍ଟରର ନିକଟ ପର୍ୟ୍ଯନ୍ତ ଅମାଲକେୀଯମାନଙ୍କୁ ଆକ୍ରମଣ କଲେ।
8 ସେ ଅମାଲକେୀଯ ରାଜା ଅଗାଗ୍କକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଜୀବନ୍ତ ଧରିଲେ। କିନ୍ତୁ ତାଙ୍କ ସନୋବୀହିନୀର ଅନ୍ୟ ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କକ୍ସ୍ଟ ହତ୍ଯା କଲେ।
9 ଯାହା ହେଉ ଶାଉଲ ଓ ତାଙ୍କର ଲୋକମାନେ ସବୁଠକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଭଲ ମଷେ, ବଳଦ ଓ ହୃଷ୍ଟପୃଷ୍ଟ ମଷେ ଶାବକଗୁଡିକୁ ଓ ସମସ୍ତ ରଖିବା ପାଇଁ ଉପ ଯୋଗୀ ସାମଗ୍ରି ସମାନେେ ରଖିଲେ। ସମାନେେ ସହେି ଦ୍ରବ୍ଯଗକ୍ସ୍ଟଡିକ ନଷ୍ଟ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ଚାହିଁଲେ ନାହିଁ। ସମାନେେ କବଳେ ରଖିବା ଉପଯୋଗୀ ନ ହବୋ ଜିନିଷକକ୍ସ୍ଟ ନଷ୍ଟ କଲେ।
10 ଶାମକ୍ସ୍ଟଯଲେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ପାଖରକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଏକ ବାର୍ତ୍ତା ପାଇଲେ।
11 ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ କହିଲେ,ଶାଉଲ ମାେତେ ଅନକ୍ସ୍ଟସରଣ କରୁନାହିଁ। ତେଣୁ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କକ୍ସ୍ଟ ରାଜା କରିଥିବାରକ୍ସ୍ଟ ମୁ ଦକ୍ସ୍ଟଃଖିତ ଅଟେ। ସେ ମାରେ ଆଦେଶକକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଅବଜ୍ଞା କଲା। ଏଥି ରେ ଶାମକ୍ସ୍ଟଯଲେ କୋର୍ଧିତ ହେଲେ ଏବଂ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ସାରା ରାତି ଚିତ୍କାର କରି କାନ୍ଦିଲେ।
12 ଶାମକ୍ସ୍ଟଯଲେ ତା'ପରଦିନ ପ୍ରତକ୍ସ୍ଟ୍ଯଷରକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କକ୍ସ୍ଟ ସାକ୍ଷାତ କରିବା ପାଇଁ ତାଙ୍କ ରାସ୍ତା ରେ ଗଲେ। ଲୋକମାନେ ଶାମୁୟେଲଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ଶାଉଲ ୟିହକ୍ସ୍ଟଦାର କର୍ମିଲ୍ ସହରକକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଆସିଥିଲେ। ଶାଉଲ ସଠାେକକ୍ସ୍ଟ ତାଙ୍କ ସମ୍ମାନାର୍ଥେ ପ୍ରସ୍ତର ସ୍ତମ୍ଭ ନିର୍ମାଣ କରିବାକୁ ଗଲେ। ଶାଉଲ ସବୁଆଡେ ୟାତ୍ରା କରି ସାରିବା ପରେ ଗିଲଗଲ୍ ରେ ପହନ୍ଚିବେ।
13 ତେଣୁ ଶାମକ୍ସ୍ଟଯଲେ ଶାଉଲ ଥିବା ସ୍ଥାନକକ୍ସ୍ଟ ୟାତ୍ରା କଲେ। ଶାଉଲ ତାଙ୍କୁ ଅଭ୍ଯର୍ଥନା କଲେ, ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଆଶୀର୍ବାଦ କରନ୍ତକ୍ସ୍ଟ। ମୁ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ଆଜ୍ଞା ମାନିଛି।
14 କିନ୍ତୁ ଶାମକ୍ସ୍ଟଯଲେ କହିଲେ, ତବେେ ଏହା କ'ଣ, ମୁ ଶକ୍ସ୍ଟଣିଅଛି? ମୁ କାହିଁକି ମଷେର ଭେଁ ଭେଁ ଶଦ୍ଦ ଶକ୍ସ୍ଟଣକ୍ସ୍ଟଅଛି ଏବଂ ଗାଈର ହମ୍ବାରବ ଶକ୍ସ୍ଟଣକ୍ସ୍ଟଛି?
15 ଶାଉଲ କହିଲେ, ସୈନ୍ଯମାନେ ସମାନଙ୍କେୁ ଅମାଲକେୀୟମାନଙ୍କଠାରୁ ଆଣିଛନ୍ତି। ସୈନ୍ଯମାନେ ଉତ୍ତମ ଗୋରୁ ଓ ମଷେମାନଙ୍କୁ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ତୁମ୍ଭର ପରମେଶଓରଙ୍କୁ ବଳିଦବୋ ନିମନ୍ତେ ରଖିଲେ ଓ ଅନ୍ୟମାନଙ୍କୁ ବିନାଶ କଲେ।
16 ଶାମକ୍ସ୍ଟଯଲେ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କକ୍ସ୍ଟ କହିଲେ, କହିବା ବନ୍ଦ କର! ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ମାେତେ ଗଲା ରାତି ରେ ଯାହା କରିଛନ୍ତି ତାହା ମୁ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ କହିବି। ଶାଉଲ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଲେ, ମାେତେ କକ୍ସ୍ଟହ।
17 ଶାମକ୍ସ୍ଟଯଲେ କହିଲେ, ଅତୀତ ରେ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ନିଜକକ୍ସ୍ଟ ମକ୍ସ୍ଟଖ୍ଯ ବୋଲି ଭାବକ୍ସ୍ଟ ନ ଥିଲ। କିନ୍ତୁ ତା'ପରେ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲ ପରିବାରବର୍ଗଗକ୍ସ୍ଟଡିକର ମୂଖ୍ଯ ହାଇେ ପାରିଲ। ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲର ରାଜା ଭାବେ ବାଛିଲେ।
18 ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ୟକ୍ସ୍ଟଦ୍ଧ ୟାତ୍ରା ରେ ପଠାଇ କହିଲେ, 'ୟାଅ, ସହେି ଅମାଲକେୀଯ ପାପୀମାନଙ୍କୁ ହତ୍ଯା କର। ସମାନଙ୍କେୁ ସଐୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ରୂପେ ଧ୍ବଂସ ନକରିବା ପର୍ୟ୍ଯନ୍ତ ତାଙ୍କ ସହ ୟକ୍ସ୍ଟଦ୍ଧ କର।'
19 କିନ୍ତୁ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ବାକ୍ଯ ଶକ୍ସ୍ଟଣିଲ ନାହିଁ କାହିଁକି? ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଚାହିଁଲ ସେ ଲକ୍ସ୍ଟଟଦ୍ରବ୍ଯ ଗକ୍ସ୍ଟଡିକ ରଖିବା ପାଇଁ ଯାହା ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ଦୃଷ୍ଟି ରେ ମନ୍ଦ ଅଟେ।
20 ଶାଉଲ କହିଲେ, ମୁ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ କଥା ମାନିଥିଲି, ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ମାେତେ ଯେଉଁଠାକକ୍ସ୍ଟ ପଠାଇ ଥିଲେ, ମୁ ସଠାେକକ୍ସ୍ଟ ୟାଇଥିଲି, ମୁ ସମସ୍ତ ଅମାଲକେୀଯମାନଙ୍କୁ ଧ୍ବଂସ କରିଥିଲି। ମୁ ଅମାଲକେୀଯ ରାଜାଙ୍କକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଆଣିଥିଲି ଓ ସମାନଙ୍କେୁ ଧ୍ବଂସ କଲି ା
21 ଏବଂ ସୈନ୍ଯମାନେ ଗିଲ୍ଗଲ ରେ ଉତ୍ତମ ମେଣ୍ତା ଓ ଗୋରୁମାନଙ୍କୁ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ତକ୍ସ୍ଟମ୍ଭ ପରମେଶ୍ବରଙ୍କଠା ରେ ବଳିଦାନ ଦବୋ ପାଇଁ ରଖିଲେ।
22 କିନ୍ତୁ ଶାମକ୍ସ୍ଟଯଲେ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଲେ, ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କୁ କ'ଣ ଅଧିକ ପ୍ରସନ୍ନ କଲ, ହାମବେଳି, ନବୈେଦ୍ଯ ନା ପରମେଶ୍ବରଙ୍କର ଆଦେଶଗକ୍ସ୍ଟଡିକ ପାଳନ କରିବା? ପରମେଶ୍ବର ହୃଷ୍ଟପୃଷ୍ଟ ମଷେର ବଳିଦାନଠାରକ୍ସ୍ଟ ତାଙ୍କର ଆଜ୍ଞାମାନକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଥିବା ଲୋକଠା ରେ ଅଧିକ ସନ୍ତକ୍ସ୍ଟଷ୍ଟ ହକ୍ସ୍ଟଅନ୍ତି।
23 ବିଦ୍ରୋହିତା ମନ୍ତ୍ରପାଠ ପାପତକ୍ସ୍ଟଲ୍ଯ ଓ ଅବାଧ୍ଯତା ଅବସ୍ତକ୍ସ୍ଟର ଓ ଠାକକ୍ସ୍ଟରମାନଙ୍କର ପୂଜାତକ୍ସ୍ଟଲ୍ଯ। ତୁମ୍ଭେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ବାକ୍ଯ ତକ୍ସ୍ଟଚ୍ଛ କରିଅଛ। ଏଥିପାଇଁ ସେ ମଧ୍ଯ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ରାଜା ହବୋ ପାଇଁ ତକ୍ସ୍ଟଚ୍ଛ କରିଅଛନ୍ତି।
24 ତା'ପରେ ଶାଉଲ ଶାମୁୟେଲଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ମୁ ପାପ କରିଅଛି। କାରଣ ମୁ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ଆଜ୍ଞା ଓ ତକ୍ସ୍ଟମ୍ଭ ଆଜ୍ଞା ଉଲ୍ଲଘଂନ କରିଅଛି। ମୁ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ଭୟକରି ସମାନଙ୍କେ କଥା ଶକ୍ସ୍ଟଣିଲି।
25 ବର୍ତ୍ତମାନ ମୁ ମାେ ପାପ କ୍ଷମା କରିବାକୁ ଅନକ୍ସ୍ଟ ରୋଧ କରୁଛି, ଓ ମୁ ଯମେନ୍ତ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କୁ ଉପାସନା କରିପା ରେ ଏଥିପାଇଁ ମାେ ସାଙ୍ଗ ରେ ଫରେିଆସ।
26 କିନ୍ତୁ ଶାମକ୍ସ୍ଟଯଲେ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କକ୍ସ୍ଟ କହିଲେ, ମୁ ତକ୍ସ୍ଟମ୍ଭ ସଙ୍ଗେ ଫରେି ୟିବି ନାହିଁ। କାରଣ ତୁମ୍ଭେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ବାକ୍ଯକକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଅବମାନନା କରିଅଛ ଓ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲର ରାଜା ପାଇଁ ମନା କରିଅଛନ୍ତି।
27 ଯେତବେେଳେ ଶାମକ୍ସ୍ଟଯଲେ ଫରେିୟିବା ପାଇଁ ବାହାରନ୍ତେ, ସେ ତାହାଙ୍କ ଗ୍ଭଗୋର ଅଞ୍ଚଳ ଧରି ଟାଣିଲେ, ତହିଁରେ ତାହା ଚିରିଗଲା।
28 ଏଣୁ ଶାମକ୍ସ୍ଟଯଲେ ତାଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଆଜି ତକ୍ସ୍ଟମ୍ଭଠାରକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲର ରାଜତ୍ବ ତକ୍ସ୍ଟମ୍ଭଠାରକ୍ସ୍ଟ ନଇଗେଲେ ଓ ତକ୍ସ୍ଟମ୍ଭଠାରକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଜଣେ ଉତ୍ତମ ବ୍ଯକ୍ତିକକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଦେଲେ, ୟିଏକି ତୁମ୍ଭର ସାଙ୍ଗ। ଉତ୍ତମ ତୁମ୍ଭର ଏକ ପ୍ରତିବେଶୀକକ୍ସ୍ଟ ତାହା ଦେଲେ।
29 ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ହେଉଛନ୍ତି ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲର ପରମେଶ୍ବର। ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ସବୁଦିନ ପାଇଁ ଏହିଠା ରେ ବାସ କରିବେ। ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ମିଛ କହନ୍ତି ନାହିଁ କି ସେ ତାଙ୍କର ମତ ପରିବର୍ତ୍ତନ କରନ୍ତି ନାହିଁ। ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଜଣେ ବ୍ଯକ୍ତି ନକ୍ସ୍ଟହଁନ୍ତି ଯେ କି ତାଙ୍କର ମତ ବଦଳାଇ ଦବେେ।
30 ଶାଉଲ ଉତ୍ତର ଦେଲେ, ମୁ ପାପ କରିଅଛି, କିନ୍ତୁ ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲର ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ଓ ପ୍ରାଚୀନବର୍ଗଙ୍କ ସମ୍ମକ୍ସ୍ଟଖ ରେ ମାରେ ସମ୍ମାନ ରଖିବା ପାଇଁ ମାେ ସହିତ ଫରେିଆସ। ମୁ ଯେପରି ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ତକ୍ସ୍ଟମ୍ଭ ପରମେଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ଉପାସନା କରିବି, ଏଥିପାଇଁ ମାେ ସଙ୍ଗେ ଫରେି ଆସ।
31 ଶାମକ୍ସ୍ଟଯଲେ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କ ସହିତ ପରେିଯାନ୍ତେ ଶାଉଲ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କୁ ଉପାସନା କଲେ।
32 ତା'ପରେ, ଅଗାଗ୍ ଲୌହ ଶିଙ୍କକ୍ସ୍ଟଳି ରେ ବନ୍ଧା ହାଇେ ତାଙ୍କ ଆଗକକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଅଣାଗଲା।
33 କିନ୍ତୁଶାମକ୍ସ୍ଟଯଲେ ଅଗାଗକକ୍ସ୍ଟ କହିଲେ, ତକ୍ସ୍ଟମ୍ଭ ଖଡ୍ଗ ଯମେନ୍ତ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀମାନଙ୍କୁ ସନ୍ତାନ ହିନ କରିଅଛି, ଯମେନ୍ତ ସ୍ତ୍ରୀମାନଙ୍କ ମଧିଅରେ ତୁମ୍ଭର ମାତା ସନ୍ତାନହିତ ହବେ। ତହକ୍ସ୍ଟଁ ଶାମକ୍ସ୍ଟଯଲେ ଗିଲ୍ଗଲ୍ ରେ ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁଙ୍କ ସମ୍ମକ୍ସ୍ଟଖ ରେ ଅଗାଗକକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଖଣ୍ତ ଖଣ୍ତ କରି ହାଣିଲେ।
34 ଏଥି ଉତ୍ତା ରେ ଶାମକ୍ସ୍ଟଯଲେ ରାମାକକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଗଲେ। ପକ୍ସ୍ଟଣି ଶାଉଲ ଗିବିଯା ସ୍ଥିତ ଆପଣା ଗୃହକକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଗଲେ।
35 ତା'ପରେ ଶାମକ୍ସ୍ଟଯଲେ ତାଙ୍କ ଜୀବନର ଶଷେ ପର୍ୟ୍ଯନ୍ତ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କକ୍ସ୍ଟ କବେବେି ଦେଖିଲେ ନାହିଁ। କାରଣ ଶାମକ୍ସ୍ଟଯଲେ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ ଶୋକ କଲେ। ପକ୍ସ୍ଟଣି ସଦାପ୍ରଭୁ ଇଶ୍ରାୟେଲ ଉପରେ ଶାଉଲଙ୍କକ୍ସ୍ଟ ରାଜା କରିବାରକ୍ସ୍ଟ ଅନକ୍ସ୍ଟତାପ କଲେ।
1 Samuel also said unto Saul, The Lord sent me to anoint thee to be king over his people, over Israel: now therefore hearken thou unto the voice of the words of the Lord.
2 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt.
3 Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.
4 And Saul gathered the people together, and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand footmen, and ten thousand men of Judah.
5 And Saul came to a city of Amalek, and laid wait in the valley.
6 And Saul said unto the Kenites, Go, depart, get you down from among the Amalekites, lest I destroy you with them: for ye shewed kindness to all the children of Israel, when they came up out of Egypt. So the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites.
7 And Saul smote the Amalekites from Havilah until thou comest to Shur, that is over against Egypt.
8 And he took Agag the king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword.
9 But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them: but every thing that was vile and refuse, that they destroyed utterly.
10 Then came the word of the Lord unto Samuel, saying,
11 It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and he cried unto the Lord all night.
12 And when Samuel rose early to meet Saul in the morning, it was told Samuel, saying, Saul came to Carmel, and, behold, he set him up a place, and is gone about, and passed on, and gone down to Gilgal.
13 And Samuel came to Saul: and Saul said unto him, Blessed be thou of the Lord: I have performed the commandment of the Lord.
14 And Samuel said, What meaneth then this bleating of the sheep in mine ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?
15 And Saul said, They have brought them from the Amalekites: for the people spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen, to sacrifice unto the Lord thy God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed.
16 Then Samuel said unto Saul, Stay, and I will tell thee what the Lord hath said to me this night. And he said unto him, Say on.
17 And Samuel said, When thou wast little in thine own sight, wast thou not made the head of the tribes of Israel, and the Lord anointed thee king over Israel?
18 And the Lord sent thee on a journey, and said, Go and utterly destroy the sinners the Amalekites, and fight against them until they be consumed.
19 Wherefore then didst thou not obey the voice of the Lord, but didst fly upon the spoil, and didst evil in the sight of the Lord?
20 And Saul said unto Samuel, Yea, I have obeyed the voice of the Lord, and have gone the way which the Lord sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites.
21 But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice unto the Lord thy God in Gilgal.
22 And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
24 And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the Lord, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice.
25 Now therefore, I pray thee, pardon my sin, and turn again with me, that I may worship the Lord.
26 And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not return with thee: for thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, and the Lord hath rejected thee from being king over Israel.
27 And as Samuel turned about to go away, he laid hold upon the skirt of his mantle, and it rent.
28 And Samuel said unto him, The Lord hath rent the kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbour of thine, that is better than thou.
29 And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent: for he is not a man, that he should repent.
30 Then he said, I have sinned: yet honour me now, I pray thee, before the elders of my people, and before Israel, and turn again with me, that I may worship the Lord thy God.
31 So Samuel turned again after Saul; and Saul worshipped the Lord.
32 Then said Samuel, Bring ye hither to me Agag the king of the Amalekites. And Agag came unto him delicately. And Agag said, Surely the bitterness of death is past.
33 And Samuel said, As thy sword hath made women childless, so shall thy mother be childless among women. And Samuel hewed Agag in pieces before the Lord in Gilgal.
34 Then Samuel went to Ramah; and Saul went up to his house to Gibeah of Saul.
35 And Samuel came no more to see Saul until the day of his death: nevertheless Samuel mourned for Saul: and the Lord repented that he had made Saul king over Israel.

1 ಅರಸನಾದ ಆರ್ತಷಸ್ತನ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಾಬೆಲಿನಿಂದ ನನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಹೊರಟು ಬಂದವರ ವಂಶಾವಳಿಯೂ ಅವರ ತಂದೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥರೂ ಯಾರಂದರೆ--
These are now the chief of their fathers, and this is the genealogy of them that went up with me from Babylon, in the reign of Artaxerxes the king.
2 ಫಿನೆಹಾಸನ ಕುಮಾರ ರಲ್ಲಿ ಗೆರ್ಷೋಮನೂ ಈತಾಮಾರನ ಕುಮಾರರಲ್ಲಿ ದಾನಿಯೇಲನೂ ದಾವೀದನ ಕುಮಾರರಲ್ಲಿ ಹಟ್ಟೂ ಷನೂ,

And of the last sons of Adonikam, whose names are these, Eliphelet, Jeiel, and Shemaiah, and with them threescore males.
14 ಬಿಗ್ವೈಯನ ಕುಮಾರರಲ್ಲಿ ಊತೆ ಯನೂ ಜಬ್ಬೂ ದನೂ ಅವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಎಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಮಂದಿ ಗಂಡಸರೂ.
Of the sons also of Bigvai; Uthai, and Zabbud, and with them seventy males.
15 ಇವರನ್ನು ನಾನು ಅಹಾವಕ್ಕೆ ಹರಿಯುವ ನದಿಯ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂರು ದಿವಸ ಡೇರೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸಿದ್ದೆವು. ನಾನು ಜನರನ್ನೂ ಯಾಜಕ ರನ್ನೂ ಶೋಧಿಸಿ ನೋಡುವಾಗ ಲೇವಿಯರ ಕುಮಾರ ರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನೂ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಕ್ಕಲಿಲ್ಲ.
And I gathered them together to the river that runneth to Ahava; and there abode we in tents three days: and I viewed the people, and the priests, and found there none of the sons of Levi.
16 ಆಗ ನಾನು ಎಲಿ ಯೇಜೆರನು, ಅರೀಯೇಲನು ಶೆಮಾಯನು, ಎಲ್ನಾ ತಾನನು, ಯಾರೀಬನು, ಎಲ್ನಾತಾನನು, ನಾತಾನನು, ಜೆಕರ್ಯನು, ಮೆಷುಲ್ಲಾಮನು ಎಂಬ ಪ್ರಮುಖರನ್ನೂ ಯೋಯಾರೀಬನು
Then sent I for Eliezer, for Ariel, for Shemaiah, and for Elnathan, and for Jarib, and for Elnathan, and for Nathan, and for Zechariah, and for Meshullam, chief men; also for Joiarib, and for Elnathan, men of understanding.
17 ಎಲ್ನಾತಾನನು ಎಂಬ ಗ್ರಹಿಕೆ ಯುಳ್ಳವರನ್ನೂ ಕರೇ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಕಸಿಪ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಅಧಿ ಪತಿಯಾದ ಇದ್ದೋನನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಕೊಟ್ಟು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಅವರು ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರ ಆಲಯಕ್ಕೊಸ್ಕರ ಸೇವಕರನ್ನು ತರುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಅವರು ಕಾಸಿಪ್ಯವೆಂಬ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಇದ್ದೋವಿಗೂ ಅವನ ಸಹೋದರನಾದ ನೆತಿನಿಯರಿಗೂ ಹೇಳಬೇಕಾದದ್ದನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಿದೆನು.
And I sent them with commandment unto Iddo the chief at the place Casiphia, and I told them what they should say unto Iddo, and to his brethren the Nethinims, at the place Casiphia, that they should bring unto us ministers for the house of our God.
18 ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರ ಒಳ್ಳೇ ಹಸ್ತವು ನಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ಇದ್ದದರಿಂದ ಅವರು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಮಗನಾಗಿರುವ ಲೇವಿಯ ಮಗನಾದ ಮಹ್ಲೀಯ ಕುಮಾರರಲ್ಲಿ ಬುದ್ಧಿ ಯುಳ್ಳವನಾದ ಶೇರೇಬ್ಯನೂ ಅವನ ಕುಮಾರರೂ ಸಹೋದರರೂ ಆದ ಹದಿನೆಂಟು ಮಂದಿಯನ್ನೂ
And by the good hand of our God upon us they brought us a man of understanding, of the sons of Mahli, the son of Levi, the son of Israel; and Sherebiah, with his sons and his brethren, eighteen;
19 ಹಷಬ್ಯನೂ ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಮೆರಾರಿಯ ಕುಮಾರ ರಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಶಾಯನೂ ಅವನ ಸಹೋದರರೂ ಅವರ ಕುಮಾರರರೂ ಆದ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಮಂದಿಯನ್ನೂ
And Hashabiah, and with him Jeshaiah of the sons of Merari, his brethren and their sons, twenty;
20 ದಾವೀ ದನೂ ಪ್ರಧಾನರೂ ಲೇವಿಯರನ್ನು ಸೇವಿಸುವದಕ್ಕೆ ನೇಮಿಸಿದ ನೆತಿನಿಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಇನ್ನೂರ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಮಂದಿ ನೆತಿನಿಯರನ್ನೂ ನಮ್ಮ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕರಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದರು. ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಹೆಸರು ಹೆಸರಾಗಿ ಬರೆಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದರು.
Also of the Nethinims, whom David and the princes had appointed for the service of the Levites, two hundred and twenty Nethinims: all of them were expressed by name.
21 ಆಗ ನಾವು ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರ ಮುಂದೆ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ತಗ್ಗಿಸುಕೊಳ್ಳುವದಕ್ಕೂ ನಮಗೂ ನಮ್ಮ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೂ ನಮ್ಮ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಗೂ ಆತನಿಂದ ಸರಿಯಾದ ಮಾರ್ಗ ವನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕುವದಕ್ಕೂ ನಾನು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಅಹವಾ ನದಿಯ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಉಪವಾಸವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಲು ಸಾರಿದೆನು.
Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.
22 ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಆತನನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕುವವರೆಲ್ಲರ ಮೇಲೆ ಒಳ್ಳೇದಾಗುವದಕ್ಕೆ ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರ ಹಸ್ತ ಉಂಟು. ಆದರೆ ಆತನನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟುಬಿಡುವವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಆತನ ಬಲವೂ ಆತನ ಕೋಪವೂ ಉಂಟು ಎಂದು ನಾವು ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಶತ್ರುವಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ನಮಗೆ ಸಹಾಯ ಕೊಡಲು ಕಾಲ್ಬಲ ವನ್ನೂ ರಾಹುತರನ್ನೂ ಅರಸನಿಂದ ಕೇಳಲು ನಾಚಿಕೆ ಪಟ್ಟೆವು.
For I was ashamed to require of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way: because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our God is upon all them for good that seek him; but his power and his wrath is against all them that forsake him.
23 ಆದದರಿಂದ ನಾವು ಉಪವಾಸ ಮಾಡಿ ಇದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರನ್ನು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಂಡೆವು. ಆತನು ನಮ್ಮ ವಿಜ್ಞಾಪನೆಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದನು.
So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was intreated of us.
24 ನಾನು ಯಾಜಕರ ಪ್ರಮುಖರಲ್ಲಿ ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಮಂದಿಯಾಗಿರುವ ಶೆರೆಬ್ಯನನ್ನೂ ಹಷಬ್ಯನನ್ನೂ ಅವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಅವರ ಸಹೋದರರಲ್ಲಿ ಹತ್ತು ಮಂದಿಯನ್ನೂ ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕಿಸಿ
Then I separated twelve of the chief of the priests, Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and ten of their brethren with them,
25 ಅರಸನೂ ಅವನ ಸಲಹೆಗಾರರೂ ಅವನ ಪ್ರಧಾನರೂ ಅಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರೂ ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರ ಆಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ಅರ್ಪಿಸಿದ ಕಾಣಿಕೆಯಾದ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಯನ್ನೂ ಬಂಗಾರವನ್ನೂ ಸಾಮಾನುಗಳನ್ನೂ ಅವರಿಗೆ ತೂಗಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟೆನು.
And weighed unto them the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, even the offering of the house of our God, which the king, and his counsellers, and his lords, and all Israel there present, had offered:
26 ಅವರ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನು ಆರುನೂರ ಐವತ್ತು ತಲಾಂತು ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಯನ್ನೂ ನೂರು ತಲಾಂತು ತೂಕವಾದ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಯ ಪಾತ್ರೆಗ ಳನ್ನೂ
I even weighed unto their hand six hundred and fifty talents of silver, and silver vessels an hundred talents, and of gold an hundred talents;
27 ನೂರು ತಲಾಂತು ಬಂಗಾರವನ್ನೂ ಸಾವಿರ ಪವನು ಬೆಲೆಯುಳ್ಳ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಬಂಗಾರದ ಬಟ್ಟಲು ಗಳನ್ನು ಬಂಗಾರದ ಹಾಗೆ ಅಮೂಲ್ಯವಾದಂಥಾ ಥಳ ಥಳಿಸುವಂಥಾ ಒಳ್ಳೇ ತಾಮ್ರದ ಎರಡು ಪಾತ್ರೆಗ ಳನ್ನೂ ತೂಗಿಕೊಟ್ಟೆನು.
Also twenty basons of gold, of a thousand drams; and two vessels of fine copper, precious as gold.
28 ನಾನು ಅವರಿಗೆ--ನೀವು ಕರ್ತನಿಗೆ ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧರಾಗಿದ್ದೀರಿ. ಈ ಸಾಮಾನುಗಳು ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧವು. ಈ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿ ಬಂಗಾರವು ನಿಮ್ಮ ತಂದೆಗಳ ದೇವರಾಗಿರುವ ಕರ್ತನಿಗೆ ಉಚಿತಾರ್ಥ ವಾದ ಅರ್ಪಣೆಯಾಗಿದೆ.
And I said unto them, Ye are holy unto the Lord; the vessels are holy also; and the silver and the gold are a freewill offering unto the Lord God of your fathers.
29 ನೀವು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿ ನಲ್ಲಿ ಕರ್ತನ ಆಲಯದ ಕೊಠಡಿಗಳೊಳಗೆ ಯಾಜಕರ ಲೇವಿಯರ ಪ್ರಧಾನರ ಮುಂದೆಯೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಪಿತೃಗಳ ಪ್ರಧಾನರ ಮುಂದೆಯೂ ತೂಗುವ ವರೆಗೆ ಜಾಗ್ರತೆಯಾಗಿ ಕಾಪಾಡಿರಿ ಅಂದನು.
Watch ye, and keep them, until ye weigh them before the chief of the priests and the Levites, and chief of the fathers of Israel, at Jerusalem, in the chambers of the house of the Lord.
30 ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಯಾಜಕರೂ ಲೇವಿಯರೂ ತೂಕದ ಹಾಗೆ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಯನ್ನೂ ಬಂಗಾರವನ್ನೂ ಪಾತ್ರೆಗಳನ್ನೂ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರ ಆಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದರು.
So took the priests and the Levites the weight of the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, to bring them to Jerusalem unto the house of our God.
31 ನಾವು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ಹೋದ ಮೊದಲನೇ ತಿಂಗಳ ಹನ್ನೆರಡನೇ ದಿವಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಹವಾ ನದಿಯನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹೊರಟೆವು. ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರ ಹಸ್ತವು ನಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲೆ ಇದ್ದದ್ದರಿಂದ ಆತನು ಶತ್ರುವಿನ ಕೈಗೂ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಂಚಿಕೊಂಡವರ ಕೈಗೂ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟನು.
Then we departed from the river of Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go unto Jerusalem: and the hand of our God was upon us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy, and of such as lay in wait by the way.
32 ನಾವು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂರು ದಿವಸ ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದು ತರುವಾಯ ನಾಲ್ಕನೇ ದಿವಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಆ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಯೂ ಬಂಗಾರವೂ ಸಾಮಾನುಗಳೂ ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾಜಕ ನಾಗಿರುವ ಊರೀಯನ ಮಗನಾದ ಮೆರೇಮೋತನ ಕೈಯಿಂದ ತೂಗಿಡಲ್ಪಟ್ಟವು.
And we came to Jerusalem, and abode there three days.
33 ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಲೇವಿ ಯರಾದ ಫಿನೇಹಾಸನ ಮಗನಾಗಿರುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾಜಾ ರನೂ ಯೇಷೂವನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೋಜಾಬಾದನೂ ಬಿನ್ನೂಯ ಮಗನಾದ ನೋವದ್ಯನೂ ಇದ್ದರು.
Now on the fourth day was the silver and the gold and the vessels weighed in the house of our God by the hand of Meremoth the son of Uriah the priest; and with him was Eleazar the son of Phinehas; and with them was Jozabad the son of Jeshua, and Noadiah the son of Binnui, Levites;
34 ಆ ತೂಕದಷ್ಟೂ ಅದೇ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಅದರದರ ಲೆಕ್ಕದ ಪ್ರಕಾರವೂ ತೂಕದ ಪ್ರಕಾರವೂ ಬರೆಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿತು.
By number and by weight of every one: and all the weight was written at that time.
35 ಸೆರೆಯಿಂದ ಬಂದು ಸೆರೆಯಾಗಿ ಒಯ್ಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದ ಅವರ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ದಹನ ಬಲಿಗಳನ್ನು ಅರ್ಪಿಸಿದರು. ಸಮಸ್ತ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರಿ ಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಹೋರಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ತೊಂಭತ್ತಾರು ಟಗರುಗಳನ್ನೂ ಎಪ್ಪತ್ತೇಳು ಕುರಿಮರಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ಪಾಪ ಕಳೆಯುವದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಮೇಕೆಯ ಹೋತಗ ಳನ್ನೂ ಅರ್ಪಿಸಿದರು. ಇವೆಲ್ಲಾ ಕರ್ತನಿಗೆ ದಹನಬಲಿ ಯಾಗಿತ್ತು.
Also the children of those that had been carried away, which were come out of the captivity, offered burnt offerings unto the God of Israel, twelve bullocks for all Israel, ninety and six rams, seventy and seven lambs, twelve he goats for a sin offering: all this was a burnt offering unto the Lord.
36 ಅವರು ಅರಸನ ಆಜ್ಞೆಗಳನ್ನು ನದಿಯ ಈಚೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಅರಸನ ಅಧಿಪತಿಗಳಿಗೂ ಯಜಮಾ ನರಿಗೂ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿದರು. ಆಗ ಅವರ ಜನರಿಗೂ ದೇವರ ಆಲಯಕ್ಕೂ ಸಹಾಯಮಾಡಿದರು.
And they delivered the king’s commissions unto the king’s lieutenants, and to the governors on this side the river: and they furthered the people, and the house of God.
