शाऊलले फेरि भने, “दाऊदलाई भन, ‘दाऊद, राजाले उसका छोरीका निम्ति तिमीबाट दुलहीको दाम लिन चाहनु हुन्न, तर राजा आफ्ना शत्रुहरूसित बद्ला लिन चाहनुहुन्छ। यसर्थ राजाले रूपियाँको सट्टा एक सय पलिश्तीहरूका खलड्डी मात्र तिमीसँग माग्नुहुन्छ।”‘ यो शाऊलको धुर्त षड्यन्त्र थियो। शाऊलले सोच्थे पलिश्तीहरूले दाऊदलाई मार्ने छन् भनेर।
