1 അനന്തരം അവർ യെരൂശലേമിനോടു സമീപിച്ചു ഒലിവുമലയരികെ ബേത്ത്ഫഗയിൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ, യേശു രണ്ടു ശിഷ്യന്മാരെ അയച്ചു:
2 “നിങ്ങൾക്കു എതിരെയുള്ള ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ ചെല്ലുവിൻ; അവിടെ കെട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്ന ഒരു പെൺകഴുതയെയും അതിന്റെ കുട്ടിയെയും നിങ്ങൾ ഉടനെ കാണും; അവയെ അഴിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുവരുവിൻ.
3 നിങ്ങളോടു ആരാനും വല്ലതും പറഞ്ഞാൽ: കർത്താവിന്നു ഇവയെക്കൊണ്ടു ആവശ്യം ഉണ്ടു എന്നു പറവിൻ; തൽക്ഷണം അവൻ അവയെ അയയക്കും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
4 “സീയോൻ പുത്രിയോടു: ഇതാ, നിന്റെ രാജാവു സൌമ്യനായി കഴുതപ്പുറത്തും വാഹനമൃഗത്തിന്റെ കുട്ടിയുടെ പുറത്തും കയറി നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വരുന്നു എന്നു പറവിൻ ”
5 എന്നിങ്ങനെ പ്രവാചകൻ മുഖാന്തരം അരുളിചെയ്തതിന്നു നിവൃത്തിവരുവാൻ ഇതു സംഭവിച്ചു.
6 ശിഷ്യന്മാർ പുറപ്പെട്ടു യേശു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ ചെയ്തു,
7 കഴുതയെയും കുട്ടിയെയും കൊണ്ടുവന്നു തങ്ങളുടെ വസ്ത്രം അവയുടെ മേൽ ഇട്ടു; അവൻ കയറി ഇരുന്നു.
8 പുരുഷാരം മിക്കതും തങ്ങളുടെ വസ്ത്രം വഴിയിൽ വിരിച്ചു: മറ്റു ചിലർ വൃക്ഷങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നു കൊമ്പു വെട്ടി വഴിയിൽ വിതറി.
9 മുന്നും പിന്നും നടന്ന പുരുഷാരം: ദാവീദ് പുത്രന്നു ഹോശന്നാ; കർത്താവിന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ വരുന്നവൻ വാഴ്ത്തപ്പെട്ടവൻ; അത്യുന്നതങ്ങളിൽ ഹോശന്നാ എന്നു ആർത്തുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
10 അവൻ യെരൂശലേമിൽ കടന്നപ്പോൾ നഗരം മുഴുവനും ഇളകി: ഇവൻ ആർ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
11 ഇവൻ ഗലീലയിലെ നസറെത്തിൽനിന്നുള്ള പ്രവാചകനായ യേശു എന്നു പുരുഷാരം പറഞ്ഞു.
12 യേശു ദൈവലായത്തിൽ ചെന്നു, ദൈവാലയത്തിൽ വില്ക്കുന്നവരെയും കൊള്ളുന്നവരെയും എല്ലാം പുറത്താക്കി, പൊൻവാണിഭക്കാരുടെ മേശകളെയും പ്രാവുകളെ വില്ക്കുന്നവരുടെ പീഠങ്ങളെയും മറിച്ചു കളഞ്ഞു അവരോടു:
13 “എന്റെ ആലയം പ്രാർത്ഥാനാലയം എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടും എന്നു എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നു; നിങ്ങളോ അതിനെ കള്ളന്മാരുടെ ഗുഹയാക്കിത്തിർക്കുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
14 കുരുടന്മാരും മുടന്തന്മാരും ദൈവാലയത്തിൽ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു; അവൻ അവരെ സൌഖ്യമാക്കി.
15 എന്നാൽ മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും ശാസ്ത്രിമാരും അവൻ ചെയ്ത അത്ഭുതങ്ങളെയും ദാവീദ് പുത്രന്നു ഹോശന്നാ എന്നു ദൈവാലയത്തിൽ ആർക്കുന്ന ബാലന്മാരെയും കണ്ടിട്ടു നീരസപ്പെട്ടു;
16 ഇവൻ പറയുന്നതു കേൾക്കുന്നുവോ എന്നു അവനോടു ചോദിച്ചു. യേശു അവരോടു: “ഉവ്വു: ശിശുക്കളുടെയും മുലകുടിക്കുന്നവരുടെയും വായിൽ നിന്നു നീ പുകഴ്ച ഒരുക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നുള്ളതു നിങ്ങൾ ഒരിക്കലും വായിച്ചിട്ടല്ലയോ” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
17 പിന്നെ അവരെ വിട്ടു നഗരത്തിൽ നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു ബെഥാന്യയിൽ ചെന്നു അവിടെ രാത്രി പാർത്തു.
18 രാവിലെ അവൻ നഗരത്തിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോകുന്ന സമയം വിശന്നിട്ടു വഴിയരികെ ഒരു അത്തിവൃക്ഷം കണ്ടു
19 അടുക്കെ ചെന്നു, അതിൽ ഇലയല്ലാതെ ഒന്നും കാണായ്കയാൽ: “ഇനി നിന്നിൽ ഒരുനാളും ഫലം ഉണ്ടാകാതെ പോകട്ടെ” എന്നു അതിനോടു പറഞ്ഞു; ക്ഷണത്തിൽ അത്തി ഉണങ്ങിപ്പോയി.
20 ശിഷ്യന്മാർ അതു കണ്ടാറെ: അത്തി ഇത്ര ക്ഷണത്തിൽ ഉണങ്ങിപ്പോയതു എങ്ങനെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു ആശ്ചര്യപ്പെട്ടു.
21 അതിന്നു യേശു: “നിങ്ങൾ സംശയിക്കാതെ വിശ്വാസം ഉള്ളവരായാൽ ഈ അത്തിയോടു ചെയ്തതു നിങ്ങളും ചെയ്യും; എന്നു മാത്രമല്ല, ഈ മലയോടു: നീങ്ങി കടലിലേക്കു ചാടിപ്പോക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞാൽ അതും സംഭവിക്കും എന്നു ഞാൻ സത്യമായിട്ടു നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.”
22 നിങ്ങൾ വിശ്വസിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു പ്രാർത്ഥനയിൽ എന്തു യാചിച്ചാലും നിങ്ങൾക്കു ലഭിക്കും എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
23 അവൻ ദൈവാലയത്തിൽ ചെന്നു ഉപദേശിക്കുമ്പോൾ മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും ജനത്തിന്റെ മൂപ്പന്മാരും അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു: നീ എന്തു അധികാരം കൊണ്ടു ഇതു ചെയ്യുന്നു? ഈ അധികാരം നിനക്കു തന്നതു ആർ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
24 യേശു അവരോടു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതു: “ഞാനും നിങ്ങളോടു ഒരു വാക്കു ചോദിക്കും; അതു നിങ്ങൾ എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞാൽ എന്തു അധികാരം കൊണ്ടു ഞാൻ ഇതു ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നുള്ളതു ഞാനും നിങ്ങളോടു പറയും.
25 യോഹന്നാന്റെ സ്നാനം എവിടെ നിന്നു? സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽനിന്നോ മനുഷ്യരിൽ നിന്നോ?” അവർ തമ്മിൽ ആലോചിച്ചു: സ്വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽ നിന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞാൽ, പിന്നെ നിങ്ങൾ അവനെ വിശ്വസിക്കാഞ്ഞതു എന്തു എന്നു അവൻ നമ്മോടു ചോദിക്കും;
26 മനുഷ്യരിൽ നിന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞാലോ, നാം പുരുഷാരത്തെ ഭയപ്പെടുന്നു; എല്ലാവരും യോഹന്നാനെ പ്രവാചകൻ എന്നല്ലോ എണ്ണുന്നതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
27 അങ്ങനെ അവർ യേശുവിനോടു: ഞങ്ങൾക്കു അറിഞ്ഞുകൂടാ എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു. അവൻ അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: “എന്നാൽ ഞാൻ ഇതു എന്തു അധികാരംകൊണ്ടു ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്നുള്ളതു ഞാനും നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നില്ല.”
28 എങ്കിലും നിങ്ങൾക്കു എന്തു തോന്നുന്നു? ഒരു മനുഷ്യന്നു രണ്ടു പുത്രന്മാർ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവൻ ഒന്നാമത്തവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ചെന്നു: മകനേ ഇന്നു എന്റെ മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടത്തിൽ പോയി വേല ചെയ്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
29 എനിക്കു മനസ്സില്ല എന്നു അവൻ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു; എങ്കിലും പിന്നത്തേതിൽ അനുതപിച്ചു അവൻ പോയി.
30 രണ്ടാമത്തെവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ അവൻ ചെന്നു അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ പറഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ: ഞാൻ പോകാം അപ്പാ എന്നു അവൻ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു; പോയില്ലതാനും.
31 ഈ രണ്ടുപേരിൽ ആർ ആകുന്നു അപ്പന്റെ ഇഷ്ടം ചെയ്തതു?” ഒന്നാമത്തവൻ എന്നു അവർ പറഞ്ഞു. യേശു അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: “ചുങ്കക്കാരും വേശ്യമാരും നിങ്ങൾക്കു മുമ്പായി ദൈവരാജ്യത്തിൽ കടക്കുന്നു എന്നു സത്യമായിട്ടു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.
32 യോഹന്നാൻ നീതിമാർഗ്ഗം ഉപദേശിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു: നിങ്ങൾ അവനെ വിശ്വസിച്ചില്ല; എന്നാൽ ചുങ്കക്കാരും വേശ്യമാരും അവനെ വിശ്വസിച്ചു; അതു കണ്ടിട്ടും നിങ്ങൾ അവനെ വിശ്വസിപ്പാൻ തക്കവണ്ണം പിന്നത്തേതിൽ അനുതപിച്ചില്ല.
33 മറ്റൊരു ഉപമ കേൾപ്പിൻ. ഗൃഹസ്ഥനായോരു മനുഷ്യൻ ഒരു മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടം നട്ടുണ്ടാക്കി, അതിന്നു വേലികെട്ടി, അതിൽ ചകൂ കുഴിച്ചിട്ടു ഗോപുരവും പണിതു; പിന്നെ കുടിയാന്മാരെ പാട്ടത്തിന്നു ഏല്പിച്ചിട്ടു പരദേശത്തുപോയി.
34 ഫലകാലം സമീപിച്ചപ്പോൾ തനിക്കുള്ള അനുഭവം വാങ്ങേണ്ടതിന്നു അവൻ ദാസന്മാരെ കുടിയാന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കൽ അയച്ചു.
35 കുടിയാന്മാരോ അവന്റെ ദാസന്മാരെ പിടിച്ചു, ഒരുവനെ തല്ലി, ഒരുവനെ കൊന്നു, മറ്റൊരുവനെ കല്ലെറിഞ്ഞു.
36 അവൻ പിന്നെയും മുമ്പിലത്തേതിലും അധികം ദാസന്മാരെ അയച്ചു; അവരോടും അവർ അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ ചെയ്തു.
37 ഒടുവിൽ അവൻ: എന്റെ മകനെ അവർ ശങ്കിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു, മകനെ അവരുടെ അടുക്കൽ അയച്ചു.
38 മകനെ കണ്ടിട്ടു കുടിയാന്മാർ: ഇവൻ അവകാശി; വരുവിൻ, നാം അവനെ കൊന്നു അവന്റെ അവകാശം കൈവശമാക്കുക എന്നു തമ്മിൽ പറഞ്ഞു,
39 അവനെ പിടിച്ചു തോട്ടത്തിൽനിന്നു പുറത്താക്കി കൊന്നു കളഞ്ഞു.
40 ആകയാൽ മുന്തിരിത്തോട്ടത്തിന്റെ ഉടയവൻ വരുമ്പോൾ ആ കുടിയാന്മാരോടു എന്തു ചെയ്യും?”
41 അവൻ ആ വല്ലാത്തവരെ വല്ലാതെ നിഗ്രഹിച്ചു തക്കസമയത്തു അനുഭവം കൊടുക്കുന്ന വേറെ കുടിയാന്മാർക്കു തോട്ടം ഏല്പിക്കും എന്നു അവർ അവനോടു പറഞ്ഞു.
42 യേശു അവരോടു: “വീടുപണിയുന്നവർ തള്ളിക്കളഞ്ഞ കല്ലു മൂലക്കല്ലായി തീർന്നിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇതു കർത്താവിനാൽ സംഭവിച്ചു നമ്മുടെ ദൃഷ്ടിയിൽ ആശ്ചര്യവുമായിരിക്കുന്നു' എന്നു നിങ്ങൾ തിരുവെഴുത്തുകളിൽ ഒരിക്കലും വായിച്ചിട്ടില്ലയോ?
43 അതുകൊണ്ടു ദൈവരാജ്യം നിങ്ങളുടെ പക്കൽനിന്നു എടുത്തു അതിന്റെ ഫലം കൊടുക്കുന്ന ജാതിക്കു കൊടുക്കും എന്നു ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറയുന്നു.
44 ഈ കല്ലിന്മേൽ വീഴുന്നവൻ തകർന്നുപോകും; അതു ആരുടെ മേൽ എങ്കിലും വീണാൽ അവനെ ധൂളിപ്പിക്കും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
45 അവന്റെ ഉപമകളെ മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും പരീശരും കേട്ടിട്ടു, തങ്ങളെക്കൊണ്ടു പറയന്നു എന്നു അറിഞ്ഞു,
46 അവനെ പിടിപ്പാൻ അന്വേഷിച്ചു; എന്നാൽ പുരുഷാരം അവനെ പ്രവാചകൻ എന്നു എണ്ണുകകൊണ്ടു അവരെ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു.
1 And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples,
2 Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me.
3 And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them.
4 All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying,
5 Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.
6 And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them,
7 And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon.
8 And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way.
9 And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.
10 And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?
11 And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.
12 And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,
13 And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.
14 And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them.
15 And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David; they were sore displeased,
16 And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?
17 And he left them, and went out of the city into Bethany; and he lodged there.
18 Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered.
19 And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away.
20 And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away!
21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.
22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
23 And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority?
24 And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one thing, which if ye tell me, I in like wise will tell you by what authority I do these things.
25 The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him?
26 But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet.
27 And they answered Jesus, and said, We cannot tell. And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.
28 But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard.
29 He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went.
30 And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not.
31 Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.
32 For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.
33 Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country:
34 And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it.
35 And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.
36 Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise.
37 But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son.
38 But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.
39 And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him.
40 When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen?
41 They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.
42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?
43 Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.
44 And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.
45 And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them.
46 But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet.

1 ആഹാബിന്നു ശമർയ്യയിൽ എഴുപതു പുത്രന്മാർ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. യേഹൂ യിസ്രായേൽ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാർക്കും മൂപ്പന്മാർക്കും ആഹാബിന്റെ പുത്രപാലകന്മാർക്കും ശമർയ്യയിലേക്കു എഴുത്തുകളെ എഴുതി അയച്ചതു എന്തെന്നാൽ:
And Ahab had seventy sons in Samaria. And Jehu wrote letters, and sent to Samaria, unto the rulers of Jezreel, to the elders, and to them that brought up Ahab’s children, saying,
2 നിങ്ങളുടെ യജമാനന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരും രഥങ്ങളും കുതിരകളും ഉറപ്പുള്ള പട്ടണവും ആയുധങ്ങളും നിങ്ങളുടെ കൈവശം ഉണ്ടല്ലോ.
Now as soon as this letter cometh to you, seeing your master’s sons are with you, and there are with you chariots and horses, a fenced city also, and armour;
3 ആകയാൽ ഈ എഴുത്തു നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കൽ എത്തിയ ഉടനെ നിങ്ങളുടെ യജമാനന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരിൽ ഉത്തമനും യോഗ്യനുമായവനെ നോക്കിയെടുത്തു അവന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ സിംഹാസനത്തിൽ ഇരുത്തി നിങ്ങളുടെ യജമാനന്റെ ഗൃഹത്തിന്നുവേണ്ടി യുദ്ധം ചെയ്‍വിൻ.
Look even out the best and meetest of your master’s sons, and set him on his father’s throne, and fight for your master’s house.
4 അവരോ ഏറ്റവും ഭയപ്പെട്ടു: രണ്ടു രാജാക്കന്മാർക്കും അവനോടു എതിർത്തുനില്പാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ലല്ലോ; പിന്നെ നാം എങ്ങനെ നില്ക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
But they were exceedingly afraid, and said, Behold, two kings stood not before him: how then shall we stand?
5 ആകയാൽ രാജധാനിവിചാരകനും നഗരാധിപതിയും മൂപ്പന്മാരും പുത്രപാലകന്മാരും യേഹൂവിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ ആളയച്ചു: ഞങ്ങൾ നിന്റെ ദാസന്മാർ; ഞങ്ങളോടു കല്പിക്കുന്നതൊക്കെയും ഞങ്ങൾ ചെയ്യാം; ഞങ്ങൾ ഒരുത്തനെയും രാജാവാക്കുന്നില്ല; നിന്റെ ഇഷ്ടംപോലെ ചെയ്തുകൊൾക എന്നു പറയിച്ചു. അവൻ രണ്ടാമതും എഴുത്തു എഴുതിയതു: നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ പക്ഷം ചേന്നു എന്റെ കല്പന കേൾക്കുമെങ്കിൽ നിങ്ങളുടെ യജമാനന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരുടെ തല നാളെ ഈ നേരത്തു യിസ്രെയേലിൽ എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുവരുവിൻ.
And he that was over the house, and he that was over the city, the elders also, and the bringers up of the children, sent to Jehu, saying, We are thy servants, and will do all that thou shalt bid us; we will not make any king: do thou that which is good in thine eyes.
6 എന്നാൽ രാജകുമാരന്മാർ എഴുപതു പേരും തങ്ങളെ വളർത്തുന്ന നഗരപ്രധാനികളോടുകൂടെ ആയിരുന്നു.
Then he wrote a letter the second time to them, saying, If ye be mine, and if ye will hearken unto my voice, take ye the heads of the men your master’s sons, and come to me to Jezreel by to morrow this time. Now the king’s sons, being seventy persons, were with the great men of the city, which brought them up.
7 ഈ എഴുത്തു അവരുടെ അടുക്കൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ അവർ രാജകുമാരന്മാരെ എഴുപതുപേരെയും പിടിച്ചു കൊന്നു അവരുടെ തലകൊട്ടയിൽ ആക്കി യിസ്രെയേലിൽ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊടുത്തയച്ചു.
And it came to pass, when the letter came to them, that they took the king’s sons, and slew seventy persons, and put their heads in baskets, and sent him them to Jezreel.
8 ഒരു ദൂതൻ വന്നു അവനോടു: അവർ രാജകുമാരന്മാരുടെ തലകൊണ്ടുവന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അറിയിച്ചു. അവയെ പടിപ്പുരവാതിൽക്കൽ രണ്ടു കൂമ്പാരമായി കൂട്ടി രാവിലെവരെ വെച്ചേക്കുവിൻ എന്നു അവൻ കല്പിച്ചു.
And there came a messenger, and told him, saying, They have brought the heads of the king’s sons. And he said, Lay ye them in two heaps at the entering in of the gate until the morning.
9 പിറ്റെന്നാൾ രാവിലെ അവൻ പുറത്തു ചെന്നുനിന്നു സർവ്വജനത്തോടും പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാൽ: നിങ്ങൾ നീതിമാന്മാർ; ഞാനോ എന്റെ യജമാനന്നു വിരോധമായി കൂട്ടുകെട്ടുണ്ടാക്കി അവനെ കൊന്നു കളഞ്ഞു; എന്നാൽ ഇവരെ ഒക്കെയും കൊന്നതു ആർ?
And it came to pass in the morning, that he went out, and stood, and said to all the people, Ye be righteous: behold, I conspired against my master, and slew him: but who slew all these?
10 ആകയാൽ യഹോവ ആഹാബ് ഗൃഹത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത യഹോവയുടെ വചനങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നും നിഷ്ഫലമാകയില്ല എന്നു അറിഞ്ഞുകൊൾവിൻ; യഹോവ തന്റെ ദാസനായ ഏലീയാവുമുഖാന്തരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു നിവർത്തിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.
Know now that there shall fall unto the earth nothing of the word of the Lord, which the Lord spake concerning the house of Ahab: for the Lord hath done that which he spake by his servant Elijah.
11 അങ്ങനെ യേഹൂ യിസ്രെയേലിൽ ആഹാബ് ഗൃഹത്തിൽ ശേഷിച്ചവരെ ഒക്കെയും അവന്റെ സകല മഹത്തുക്കളെയും ബന്ധുക്കളെയും പുരോഹിതന്മാരെയും ആരും ശേഷിക്കാതവണ്ണം സംഹരിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.
So Jehu slew all that remained of the house of Ahab in Jezreel, and all his great men, and his kinsfolks, and his priests, until he left him none remaining.
12 പിന്നെ അവൻ പുറപ്പെട്ടു ശമർയ്യയിൽ ചെന്നു വഴിയിൽ ഇടയന്മാർ രോമം കത്രിക്കുന്ന വീട്ടിന്നരികെ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ യോഹൂ
And he arose and departed, and came to Samaria. And as he was at the shearing house in the way,
13 യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ അഹസ്യാവിന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരെ കണ്ടിട്ടു: നിങ്ങൾ ആർ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. ഞങ്ങൾ അഹസ്യാവിന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാർ; രാജാവിന്റെ മക്കളെയും രാജ്ഞിയുടെ മക്കളെയും അഭിവന്ദനം ചെയ്‍വാൻ പോകയാകുന്നു എന്നു അവർ പറഞ്ഞു.
Jehu met with the brethren of Ahaziah king of Judah, and said, Who are ye? And they answered, We are the brethren of Ahaziah; and we go down to salute the children of the king and the children of the queen.
14 അപ്പോൾ അവൻ: അവരെ ജീവനോടെ പിടിപ്പിൻ എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു; അവർ അവരെ ജീവനോടെ പിടിച്ചു; അവരെ നാല്പത്തിരണ്ടുപേരെയും രോമം കത്രിക്കുന്ന വീട്ടിന്റെ കളത്തിങ്കൽവെച്ചു കൊന്നു; അവരിൽ ഒരുത്തനെയും ശേഷിപ്പിച്ചില്ല.
And he said, Take them alive. And they took them alive, and slew them at the pit of the shearing house, even two and forty men; neither left he any of them.
15 അവൻ അവിടെനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടപ്പോൾ തന്നെ എതിരേല്പാൻ വരുന്ന രേഖാബിന്റെ മകനായ യോനാദാബിനെ കണ്ടു വന്ദനം ചെയ്തു അവനോടു: എന്റെ ഹൃദയം നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തോടു ചേർന്നിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ നിന്റെ ഹൃദയം പരമാർത്ഥമായിരിക്കുന്നുവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന്നു യോനാദാബ് അതെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ എങ്കിൽ കൈ തരിക. അവൻ കൈ കൊടുത്തു; അവൻ അവനെ തന്റെ രഥത്തിൽ കയറ്റി.
And when he was departed thence, he lighted on Jehonadab the son of Rechab coming to meet him: and he saluted him, and said to him, Is thine heart right, as my heart is with thy heart? And Jehonadab answered, It is. If it be, give me thine hand. And he gave him his hand; and he took him up to him into the chariot.
16 നീ എന്നോടുകൂടെ വന്നു യഹോവയെക്കുറിച്ചു എനിക്കുള്ള ശുഷ്കാന്തി കാൺക എന്നു അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു; അങ്ങനെ അവനെ രഥത്തിൽ കയറ്റി അവർ ഓടിച്ചു പോയി.
And he said, Come with me, and see my zeal for the Lord. So they made him ride in his chariot.
17 ശമർയ്യയിൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ അവൻ ശമർയ്യയിൽ ആഹാബിന്നു ശേഷിച്ചവരെ ഒക്കെയും യഹോവ ഏലീയാവോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത വചനപ്രകാരം ഒട്ടൊഴിയാതെ സംഹരിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.
And when he came to Samaria, he slew all that remained unto Ahab in Samaria, till he had destroyed him, according to the saying of the Lord, which he spake to Elijah.
18 പിന്നെ യേഹൂ സകലജനത്തെയും കൂട്ടി അവരോടു: ആഹാബ് ബാലിനെ അല്പമേ സേവിച്ചുള്ളു; യേഹൂവോ അവനെ അധികം സേവിക്കും.
And Jehu gathered all the people together, and said unto them, Ahab served Baal a little; but Jehu shall serve him much.
19 ആകയാൽ ബാലിന്റെ സകലപ്രവാചകന്മാരെയും സകലപൂജകന്മാരെയും സകലപുരോഹിതന്മാരെയും എന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വരുത്തുവിൻ; ഒരുത്തനും വരാതിരിക്കരുതു; ഞാൻ ബാലിന്നു ഒരു മഹായാഗം കഴിപ്പാൻ പോകുന്നു; വരാത്തവർ ആരും ജീവനോടിരിക്കയില്ല എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു; എന്നാൽ ബാലിന്റെ പൂജകന്മാരെ നശിപ്പിക്കത്തക്കവണ്ണം യേഹൂ ഈ ഉപായം പ്രയോഗിച്ചു.
Now therefore call unto me all the prophets of Baal, all his servants, and all his priests; let none be wanting: for I have a great sacrifice to do to Baal; whosoever shall be wanting, he shall not live. But Jehu did it in subtilty, to the intent that he might destroy the worshippers of Baal.
20 ബാലിന്നു ഒരു വിശുദ്ധസഭായോഗം ഘോഷിപ്പിൻ എന്നു യേഹൂ കല്പിച്ചു. അവർ അങ്ങനെ ഘേഷിച്ചു.
And Jehu said, Proclaim a solemn assembly for Baal. And they proclaimed it.
21 യേഹൂ യിസ്രായേൽ ദേശത്തു എല്ലാടവും ആളയച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു ബാലിന്റെ സകല പൂജകന്മാരും വന്നു; ഒരുത്തനും വരാതിരുന്നില്ല; അവർ ബാലിന്റെ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ കൂടി; ബാൽക്ഷേത്രം ഒരു അറ്റംമുതൽ മറ്റേ അറ്റംവരെ തിങ്ങിനിറഞ്ഞു.
And Jehu sent through all Israel: and all the worshippers of Baal came, so that there was not a man left that came not. And they came into the house of Baal; and the house of Baal was full from one end to another.
22 അവൻ വസ്ത്ര വിചാരകനോടു: ബാലിന്റെ സകലപൂജകന്മാർക്കും വസ്ത്രം കൊണ്ടുവന്നു കൊടുക്ക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. അവൻ വസ്ത്രം കൊണ്ടുവന്നു കൊടുത്തു.
And he said unto him that was over the vestry, Bring forth vestments for all the worshippers of Baal. And he brought them forth vestments.
23 പിന്നെ യേഹൂവും രേഖാബിന്റെ മകനായ യോനാദാബും ബാലിന്റെ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ കടന്നു ബാലിന്റെ പൂജകന്മാരോടു: ബാലിന്റെ പൂജകന്മാർ മാത്രമല്ലാതെ യഹോവയുടെ പൂജകന്മാർ ആരും ഇവിടെ നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഇല്ലാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു തിരഞ്ഞു നോക്കുവിൻ എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.
And Jehu went, and Jehonadab the son of Rechab, into the house of Baal, and said unto the worshippers of Baal, Search, and look that there be here with you none of the servants of the Lord, but the worshippers of Baal only.
24 അവർ ഹനനയാഗങ്ങളും ഹോമയാഗങ്ങളും കഴിപ്പാൻ അകത്തു ചെന്നശേഷം യേഹൂ പുറത്തു എണ്പതു പേരെ നിർത്തി: ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ കയ്യിൽ ഏല്പിക്കുന്ന ആളുകളിൽ ഒരുത്തൻ ചാടിപ്പോയാൽ അവന്റെ ജീവന്നു പകരം അവനെ വിട്ടയച്ചവന്റെ ജീവൻ ആയിരിക്കും എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.
And when they went in to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings, Jehu appointed fourscore men without, and said, If any of the men whom I have brought into your hands escape, he that letteth him go, his life shall be for the life of him.
25 ഹോമയാഗം കഴിച്ചുതീർന്നപ്പോൾ യേഹൂ അകമ്പടികളോടും പടനായകന്മാരോടും: അകത്തു കടന്നു അവരെ കൊല്ലുവിൻ; ഒരുത്തനും പുറത്തു പോകരുതു എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. അങ്ങനെ അവർ വാളിന്റെ വായ്ത്തലയാൽ അവരെ കൊന്നു; അകമ്പടികളും പടനായകന്മാരും അവരെ പുറത്തു എറിഞ്ഞുകളഞ്ഞു; ബാൽക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ നഗരത്തിൽ ചെന്നു
And it came to pass, as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, that Jehu said to the guard and to the captains, Go in, and slay them; let none come forth. And they smote them with the edge of the sword; and the guard and the captains cast them out, and went to the city of the house of Baal.
26 ബാൽക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ സ്തംഭവിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെ പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു ചുട്ടുകളഞ്ഞു.
And they brought forth the images out of the house of Baal, and burned them.
27 അവർ ബാൽസ്തംഭത്തെ തകർത്തു ബാൽക്ഷേത്രത്തെ ഇടിച്ചു അതിനെ മറപ്പുരയാക്കിത്തീർത്തു; അതു ഇന്നുവരെ അങ്ങനെതന്നേ ഇരിക്കുന്നു.
And they brake down the image of Baal, and brake down the house of Baal, and made it a draught house unto this day.
28 ഇങ്ങനെ യേഹൂ ബാലിനെ യിസ്രായേലിൽനിന്നു നശിപ്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.
Thus Jehu destroyed Baal out of Israel.
29 എങ്കിലും ബേഥേലിലും ദാനിലും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന പൊൻകാളക്കുട്ടികളെക്കൊണ്ടു യിസ്രായേലിനെ പാപം ചെയ്യുമാറാക്കിയ നെബാത്തിന്റെ മകനായ യൊരോബെയാമിന്റെ പാപങ്ങളെ യേഹൂ വിട്ടുമാറിയില്ല.
Howbeit from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, Jehu departed not from after them, to wit, the golden calves that were in Beth-el, and that were in Dan.
30 യഹോവ യേഹൂവിനോടു: എനിക്കു ഇഷ്ടമുള്ളതു നീ നല്ലവണ്ണം അനുഷ്ഠിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടും എന്റെ ഹിതപ്രകാരം ഒക്കെയും ആഹാബ്ഗൃഹത്തോടു ചെയ്തതുകൊണ്ടും നിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ രാജാസനത്തിൽ നാലാം തലമുറവരെ ഇരിക്കും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
And the Lord said unto Jehu, Because thou hast done well in executing that which is right in mine eyes, and hast done unto the house of Ahab according to all that was in mine heart, thy children of the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel.
31 എങ്കിലും യേഹൂ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണപ്രകാരം പൂർണ്ണമനസ്സോടെ നടക്കുന്നതിന്നു ജാഗ്രത കാണിച്ചില്ല; യിസ്രായേലിനെക്കൊണ്ടു പാപം ചെയ്യിച്ച യൊരോബെയാമിന്റെ പാപങ്ങളെ അവൻ വിട്ടുമാറിയതുമില്ല.
But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the Lord God of Israel with all his heart: for he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam, which made Israel to sin.
32 ആ കാലത്തു യഹോവ യിസ്രായേലിനെ കുറെച്ചുകളവാൻ തുടങ്ങി; ഹസായേൽ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ അതിരുകളിലൊക്കെയും അവരെ തോല്പിച്ചു.
In those days the Lord began to cut Israel short: and Hazael smote them in all the coasts of Israel;
33 അവൻ യോർദ്ദാന്നു കിഴക്കു ഗാദ്യർ, രൂബേന്യർ, മനശ്ശേയർ എന്നിവരുടെ ദേശമായ ഗിലെയാദ് മുഴുവനും ജയിച്ചടക്കി അർന്നോൻ തോട്ടിന്നരികെയുള്ള അരോവേർ മുതൽ ഗിലെയാദും ബാശാനും തന്നേ.
From Jordan eastward, all the land of Gilead, the Gadites, and the Reubenites, and the Manassites, from Aroer, which is by the river Arnon, even Gilead and Bashan.
34 യേഹൂവിന്റെ മറ്റുള്ള വൃത്താന്തങ്ങളും അവൻ ചെയ്തതൊക്കെയും അവന്റെ സകലപരാക്രമപ്രവൃത്തികളും യിസ്രായേൽരാജാക്കന്മാരുടെ വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നുവല്ലോ.
Now the rest of the acts of Jehu, and all that he did, and all his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
35 യേഹൂ തന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ നിദ്രപ്രാപിച്ചു; അവനെ ശമർയ്യയിൽ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു. അവന്റെ മകനായ യെഹോവാഹാസ് അവന്നു പകരം രാജാവായി.
And Jehu slept with his fathers: and they buried him in Samaria. And Jehoahaz his son reigned in his stead.
36 യേഹൂ ശമർയ്യയിൽ യിസ്രായേലിനെ വാണ കാലം ഇരുപത്തെട്ടു സംവത്സരം ആയിരുന്നു.
And the time that Jehu reigned over Israel in Samaria was twenty and eight years.
