അനന്തരം യിരെമ്യാവു യഹോവ തന്നെ പ്രവചിപ്പാൻ അയിച്ചിരുന്ന തോഫെത്തിൽനിന്നു വന്നു, യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിന്റെ പ്രാകാരത്തിൽ നിന്നുകൊണ്ടു സകലജനത്തോടും:

ഹർസീത്ത് (ഓട്ടുനുറുകൂ) വാതിലിന്റെ പുറമെയുള്ള ബെൻ-ഹിന്നോം താഴ്വരയിൽ ചെന്നു, ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്ന വാക്കുകളെ അവിടെ പ്രസ്താവിച്ചു പറയേണ്ടതു:

യഹോവ എന്നോടു ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു: നീ ചെന്നു, യെഹൂദാരാജാക്കന്മാർ അകത്തു വരികയും പുറത്തു പോകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന ജനത്തിന്റെ വാതിൽക്കലും യെരൂശലേമിന്റെ എല്ലാവാതിൽക്കലും നിന്നുകൊണ്ടു അവരോടു പറക:
