എന്നാൽ മൊർദ്ദെഖായി തനിക്കു മകളായിട്ടെടുത്തിരുന്ന അവന്റെ ചിറ്റപ്പൻ അബീഹയീലിന്റെ മകളായ എസ്ഥേരിന്നു രാജസന്നിധിയിൽ ചെല്ലുവാൻ മുറ വന്നപ്പോൾ അവൾ രാജാവിന്റെ ഷണ്ഡനും അന്തഃപുരപാലകനുമായ ഹേഗായി പറഞ്ഞതു മാത്രമല്ലാതെ ഒന്നും ചോദിച്ചില്ല. എന്നാൽ എസ്ഥേരിനെ കണ്ട എല്ലാവർക്കും അവളോടു പ്രീതി തോന്നും.

അവൻ അഹശ്വേരോശ്രാജാവിന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ എഴുതിച്ചു രാജമോതിരംകൊണ്ടു മുദ്രയിട്ടു ലേഖനങ്ങളെ രാജാവിന്റെ അശ്വഗണത്തിൽ വളർന്നു രാജകാര്യത്തിന്നു ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്ന തുരഗങ്ങളുടെ പുറത്തു കയറി ഓടിക്കുന്ന അഞ്ചൽക്കാരുടെ കൈവശം കൊടുത്തയച്ചു.

അഞ്ചൽക്കാർ രാജ കല്പന പ്രമാണിച്ചു ക്ഷണത്തിൽ പുറപ്പെട്ടു പോയി; ശൂശൻ രാജധാനിയിലും ആ തീർപ്പു പരസ്യം ചെയ്തു; രാജാവും ഹാമാനും കുടിപ്പാൻ ഇരുന്നു; ശൂശമ്പട്ടണമോ കലങ്ങിപ്പോയി.
