എസ്ഥേർ 8:11
അവയിൽ രാജാവു അഹശ്വേരോശ്‌രാജാവിന്റെ സകലസംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലും ആദാർമാസമായ പന്ത്രണ്ടാം മാസം പതിമ്മൂന്നാം തിയ്യതി തന്നേ,

ஆனாலும் அமத்சியா கேட்காமற்போனான்; அவர்கள் ஏதோமின் தெய்வங்களை நாடினதால் அவர்களை அவர்களுடைய சத்துருக்களின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பதற்காக தேவனாலே இப்படி நடந்தது.

ஆனால் அமத்சியா அதனைக் கேட்கவில்லை. இது தேவனால் உண்டானது. தேவன் இஸ்ரவேல் மூலம் யூதாவைத் தோற்கடிக்க எண்ணினார். அதற்கு காரணம், யூதா நகர ஜனங்கள் ஏதோமியரின் தெய்வங்களைப் பின்பற்றி தொழுதுகொண்டு வந்தனர் என்பதாகும்.

ஆனால், அமட்சியா அதைக் காதில் வாங்கிக்கொள்ளவில்லை. ஏதோமின் தெய்வங்களை அவன் வழிபட்டு வந்ததனால், அவனை எதிரிகளின் கையில் ஒப்பவிக்கக் கடவுள் திட்டமிட்டிருந்தார்.

	וָעִ֗יר	wāʿîr	va-EER
together, themselves gather to	לְהִקָּהֵל֮	lĕhiqqāhēl	leh-hee-ka-HALE
and to stand	וְלַֽעֲמֹ֣ד	wĕlaʿămōd	veh-la-uh-MODE
for	עַל	ʿal	al
life, their	נַפְשָׁם֒	napšām	nahf-SHAHM
to destroy,	לְהַשְׁמִיד֩	lĕhašmîd	leh-hahsh-MEED
to slay,	וְלַֽהֲרֹ֨ג	wĕlahărōg	veh-la-huh-ROɡE
perish, to cause to and	וּלְאַבֵּ֜ד	ûlĕʾabbēd	oo-leh-ah-BADE
	אֶת	ʾet	et
all	כָּל	kāl	kahl
the power	חֵ֨יל	ḥêl	hale
people the of	עַ֧ם	ʿam	am
and province	וּמְדִינָ֛ה	ûmĕdînâ	oo-meh-dee-NA
