അങ്ങനെ അവർ പട്ടണവാതിൽക്കൽ ചെന്നു കാവൽക്കാരനെ വിളിച്ചു: ഞങ്ങൾ അരാംപാളയത്തിൽ പോയിരുന്നു; അവിടെ ഒരു മനുഷ്യനും ഇല്ല; ഒരു മനുഷ്യന്റെയും ശബ്ദം കേൾപ്പാനുമില്ല കുതിരകളും കഴുതകളും കെട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നപാടെ നില്ക്കുന്നു; കൂടാരങ്ങളും അപ്പാടെ തന്നേ ഇരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

| them, saying, | לָהֶם֙ | lāhem | la-HEM |
| We came | לֵאמֹ֔ר | lēʾmōr | lay-MORE |
| to | בָּ֚אנוּ | bāʾnû | BA-noo |
| camp the | אֶל | ʾel | el |
| of the Syrians, | מַֽחֲנֵ֣ה | maḥănē | ma-huh-NAY |
| behold, and, | אֲרָ֔ם | ʾărām | uh-RAHM |
| there was no | וְהִנֵּ֥ה | wĕhinnē | veh-hee-NAY |
| man | אֵֽין | ʾên | ane |
| there, | שָׁ֛ם | šām | shahm |
| neither voice | אִ֖ישׁ | ʾîš | eesh |
| of man, | וְק֣וֹל | wĕqôl | veh-KOLE |
| but | אָדָ֑ם | ʾādām | ah-DAHM |
| כִּ֣י | kî | kee | |
| horses | אִם | ʾim | eem |
| tied, | הַסּ֤וּס | hassûs | HA-soos |
| and asses | אָסוּר֙ | ʾāsûr | ah-SOOR |
| tied, | וְהַֽחֲמ֣וֹר | wĕhaḥămôr | veh-ha-huh-MORE |
| tents the and | אָס֔וּר | ʾāsûr | ah-SOOR |
| as | וְאֹֽהָלִ֖ים | wĕʾōhālîm | veh-oh-ha-LEEM |
| they | כַּֽאֲשֶׁר | kaʾăšer | KA-uh-sher |
