അവൻ ദേശാധിപതികളുടെ ബാല്യക്കാരെ എണ്ണി നോക്കി; അവർ ഇരുനൂറ്റിമുപ്പത്തിരണ്ടുപേരായിരുന്നു. അവരുടെശേഷം അവൻ യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളുടെ പടജ്ജനത്തെയൊക്കെയും എണ്ണി ഏഴായിരം പേർ എന്നു കണ്ടു.
