അക്കാലത്തു യിസ്രായേലിൽ രാജാവില്ലായിരുന്നു. ദാൻഗോത്രക്കാർ അക്കാലം തങ്ങൾക്കു കുടിപാർപ്പാൻ ഒരു അവകാശം അന്വേഷിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേൽഗോത്രങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയിൽ അവർക്കു അന്നുവരെ അവകാശം സ്വാധീനമായ്‍വന്നിരുന്നില്ല.
