അബ്ശാലോം യോവാബിനോടു: ഞാൻ ഗെശൂരിൽനിന്നു എന്തിന്നു വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു? ഞാൻ അവിടെത്തന്നേ പാർത്തിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ കൊള്ളായിരുന്നു എന്നു രാജാവിനോടു പറവാൻ നിന്നെ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ അയക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നീ ഇവിടെ വരേണം എന്നു ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞയച്ചുവല്ലോ; എനിക്കു ഇപ്പോൾ രാജാവിന്റെ മുഖം കാണേണം; എന്നിൽ കുറ്റം ഉണ്ടെങ്കിൽ അവൻ എന്നെ കൊല്ലട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
