2 Kings 18:31
ಹಿಜ್ಕೀಯನ ಮಾತು ಕೇಳಬೇಡಿರಿ. ಅಶ್ಶೂರಿನ ಅರ ಸನು ಹೇಳುವದೇನಂದರೆ--ನೀವು ಸಾಯದೆ ಬದು ಕುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಕಾಣಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ನನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆ ಮಾಡಿ ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೊರಟು ಬನ್ನಿರಿ.

ಯೆಹೂದ ಮತ್ತು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರು ತಿನ್ನುತ್ತಾ ಕುಡಿಯುತ್ತಾ ಸಂತೋಷಪಡುತ್ತಾ ಸಮುದ್ರದ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಮರಳಿನ ಹಾಗೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿದ್ದರು.

ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ--ನಿನ್ನ ದಾಸನಾದ ಯಾಕೋಬನು ನಮ್ಮ ಹಿಂದೆ ಬರುತ್ತಾನೆಂದು ಹೇಳಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ನನ್ನ ಮುಂದೆ ಹೋಗುವ ಕಾಣಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ಅವನನ್ನು ಸಮಾಧಾನಪಡಿಸುವೆನು. ತರುವಾಯ ಅವನ ಮುಖವನ್ನು ನೋಡುವೆನು; ಅವನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಅಂಗೀಕರಿಸುವನೇನೋ ಎಂದು ಅಂದು ಕೊಂಡನು.

ನಿನಗೋಸ್ಕರ ತಂದಿರುವ ನನ್ನ ಕಾಣಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಅಂಗೀಕರಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಬೇಡುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ದೇವರು ನನ್ನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಕೃಪೆಯಿಂದ ವರ್ತಿಸಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ನನಗೆ ಬೇಕಾದಷ್ಟು ಇದೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಬಲವಂತ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ಅದನ್ನು ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡನು.

ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ದಾನವು ತನಗೆ ಅನುಕೂಲವಾಗಿದ್ದು ದೊಡ್ಡವರ ಸನ್ನಿಧಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಅವನನ್ನು ಕರಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗುತ್ತದೆ.
