Matthew 14
1 ಆ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಚತುರಾಧಿಪತಿಯಾದ ಹೆರೋದನು ಯೇಸುವಿನ ಕೀರ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ತನ್ನ ಸೇವಕರಿಗೆ --
2 ಇವನು ಬಾಪ್ತಿಸ್ಮ ಮಾಡಿಸುವ ಯೋಹಾನನೇ; ಈಗ ಇವನು ಸತ್ತವರೊಳಗಿಂದ ಎದ್ದಿದ್ದಾನೆ; ಆದದರಿಂದಲೇ ಮಹತ್ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳು ಇವನಲ್ಲಿ ತೋರಿಬರುತ್ತವೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
3 ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಹೆರೋದನು ತನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರನಾದ ಫಿಲಿಪ್ಪನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದ ಹೆರೋದ್ಯಳ ನಿಮಿತ್ತವಾಗಿ ಯೋಹಾನನನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ಕಟ್ಟಿ ಸೆರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಕಿದ್ದನು.
4 ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಯೋಹಾನನು--ನೀನು ಅವಳನ್ನು ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡಿರುವದು ನಿನಗೆ ನ್ಯಾಯವಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದನು.
5 ಆದದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ಯೋಹಾನನನ್ನು ಕೊಲ್ಲಬೇಕೆಂದಿದ್ದಾಗ ಜನ ಸಮೂಹಕ್ಕೆ ಭಯಪಟ್ಟನು; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಅವರು ಅವನನ್ನು ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯೆಂದು ಎಣಿಸಿದ್ದರು.
6 ಆದರೆ ಹೆರೋದನ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ ದಿನವು ಆಚರಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಾಗ ಹೆರೋದ್ಯಳ ಮಗಳು ಅವರ ಮುಂದೆ ನಾಟ್ಯವಾಡಿ ಹೆರೋದನನ್ನು ಮೆಚ್ಚಿಸಿದಳು.
7 ಆದದರಿಂದ ಅವಳು ಏನು ಕೇಳಿಕೊಂಡರೂ ಅವಳಿಗೆ ಕೊಡುವೆನೆಂದು ಅವನು ಆಣೆಯಿಟ್ಟು ವಾಗ್ದಾನಮಾಡಿದನು.
8 ಅವಳು ತನ್ನ ತಾಯಿಯಿಂದ ಮೊದಲೇ ಕಲಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟವಳಾಗಿ-- ಬಾಪ್ತಿಸ್ಮ ಮಾಡಿಸುವ ಯೋಹಾನನ ತಲೆಯನ್ನು ಪರಾ ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ನನಗೆ ಕೊಡು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದಳು.
9 ಆಗ ಅರಸನು ದುಃಖಪಟ್ಟಾಗ್ಯೂ ತನ್ನ ಆಣೆಯ ನಿಮಿತ್ತದಿಂದಲೂ ತನ್ನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಊಟಕ್ಕೆ ಕೂತಿದ್ದವರ ನಿಮಿತ್ತದಿಂದಲೂ ಅದನ್ನು ಅವಳಿಗೆ ಕೊಡುವಂತೆ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
10 ಮತ್ತು ಅವನು (ಆಳುಗಳನ್ನು) ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಸೆರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಯೋಹಾನನ ತಲೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಯಿಸಿದನು.
11 ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಅವನ ತಲೆಯನ್ನು ಪರಾತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ತಂದು ಆ ಹುಡುಗಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟರು. ಅವಳು ಅದನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ತಾಯಿಯ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತಂದಳು.
12 ಆಗ ಅವನ ಶಿಷ್ಯರು ಬಂದು ದೇಹವನ್ನೆತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೂಣಿಟ್ಟು ಹೋಗಿ ಯೇಸುವಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.
13 ಯೇಸು ಆ ವಿಷಯವನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ ದೋಣಿ ಯನ್ನು ಹತ್ತಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ವಿಂಗಡವಾಗಿ ಅರಣ್ಯ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಟುಹೋದನು. ಇದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಜನರು ಪಟ್ಟಣ ಗಳಿಂದ ಕಾಲು ನಡಿಗೆಯಾಗಿ ಆತನನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿ ಸಿದರು.
14 ಆಗ ಯೇಸು ಹೊರಟುಹೋಗಿ ಜನರ ಮಹಾಸಮೂಹವನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಅವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಕನಿಕರ ಪಟ್ಟು ಅವರಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ರೋಗಿಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ವಸ್ಥಮಾಡಿದನು.
15 ಸಾಯಂಕಾಲವಾದಾಗ ಆತನ ಶಿಷ್ಯರು ಆತನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು--ಇದು ಅಡವಿಯ ಸ್ಥಳ, ಸಮಯವು ದಾಟಿತು; ಜನರು ಹಳ್ಳಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ತಮಗಾಗಿ ಆಹಾರವನ್ನು ಕೊಂಡುಕೊಳ್ಳುವಂತೆ ಅವರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿಬಿಡು ಅಂದರು.
16 ಆದರೆ ಯೇಸು ಅವ ರಿಗೆ--ಅವರು ಹೋಗುವದು ಅವಶ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲ; ಅವರು ಊಟಮಾಡುವದಕ್ಕೆ ನೀವೇ ಕೊಡಿರಿ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
17 ಅವರು ಆತನಿಗೆ--ನಮ್ಮ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಐದು ರೊಟ್ಟಿ ಎರಡು ಮಾನುಗಳು ಮಾತ್ರ ಇವೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
18 ಆತನು--ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಬನ್ನಿರಿ ಅಂದನು.
19 ಜನ ಸಮೂಹವು ಹುಲ್ಲಿನಮೇಲೆ ಕೂತುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕೆಂದು ಆತನು ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಕೊಟ್ಟು ಆ ಐದು ರೊಟ್ಟಿ ಎರಡು ಮಾನುಗಳನ್ನು ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಪರಲೋಕದ ಕಡೆಗೆ ನೋಡಿ ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸಿ ಮುರಿದು ಆ ರೊಟ್ಟಿಗಳನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಶಿಷ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು ಮತ್ತು ಶಿಷ್ಯರು ಜನಸಮೂಹಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟರು.
20 ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ತಿಂದು ತೃಪ್ತರಾದರು; ಮತ್ತು ಅವರು ಉಳಿದ ತುಂಡುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಸಿ ಹನ್ನೆ ರಡು ಪುಟ್ಟಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತುಂಬಿಸಿದರು.
21 ಊಟ ಮಾಡಿ ದವರು ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರೂ ಮಕ್ಕಳೂ ಅಲ್ಲದೆ ಗಂಡಸರೇ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಕಡಿಮೆ ಐದು ಸಾವಿರ ಇದ್ದರು.
22 ಕೂಡಲೆ ಯೇಸು ತಾನು ಜನಸಮೂಹಗಳನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಬಿಡುವಷ್ಟರೊಳಗಾಗಿ ತನ್ನ ಶಿಷ್ಯರು ದೋಣಿ ಯನ್ನು ಹತ್ತಿ ತನಗಿಂತ ಮುಂಚೆ ಆಚೇ ದಡಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗ ಬೇಕೆಂದು ಅವರನ್ನು ಒತ್ತಾಯ ಮಾಡಿದನು.
23 ಆತನು ಜನಸಮೂಹಗಳನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ ಮೇಲೆ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆ ಮಾಡಲು ಏಕಾಂತವಾಗಿ ಗುಡ್ಡದ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೋದನು; ಸಾಯಂಕಾಲವಾದಾಗ ಆತನೊಬ್ಬನೇ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದನು.
24 ಆಗ ದೋಣಿಯು ಸಮುದ್ರದ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದು ತೆರೆಗಳಿಂದ ಬಡಿಯಲ್ಪಡುತ್ತಿತ್ತು; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಗಾಳಿಯು ಎದುರಾಗಿತ್ತು.
25 ಮತ್ತು ನಾಲ್ಕನೆಯ ಜಾವದಲ್ಲಿ ಯೇಸು ಸಮುದ್ರದ ಮೇಲೆ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಾ ಅವರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋದನು.
26 ಆತನು ಸಮುದ್ರದ ಮೇಲೆ ನಡೆಯುವದನ್ನು ಶಿಷ್ಯರು ನೋಡಿ ಕಳವಳಪಟ್ಟು--ಇದು ಭೂತ ಎಂದು ಭೀತಿಯಿಂದ ಕೂಗಿ ಕೊಂಡರು.
27 ಆದರೆ ಯೇಸು ತಕ್ಷಣವೇ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ--ಧೈರ್ಯವಾಗಿರ್ರಿ; ನಾನೇ, ಭಯಪಡಬೇಡಿರಿಅಂದನು.
28 ಆಗ ಪೇತ್ರನು ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರವಾಗಿ ಆತನಿಗೆ--ಕರ್ತನೇ, ನೀನೇ ಆಗಿದ್ದರೆ ನೀರಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ನಡೆದು ನಿನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬರಲು ನನಗೆ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಕೊಡು ಅಂದನು.
29 ಅದಕ್ಕಾತನು--ಬಾ ಅಂದನು. ಆಗ ಪೇತ್ರನು ದೋಣಿಯಿಂದ ಇಳಿದು ಯೇಸುವಿನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗು ವದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ನೀರಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ನಡೆದನು.
30 ಆದರೆ ಬಲ ವಾದ ಗಾಳಿಯನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದಾಗ ಅವನು ಭಯಪಟ್ಟು ಮುಣುಗುತ್ತಾ--ಕರ್ತನೇ, ನನ್ನನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸು ಎಂದು ಕೂಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದನು.
31 ತಕ್ಷಣವೇ ಯೇಸು ತನ್ನ ಕೈಯನ್ನು ಚಾಚಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು--ಓ ಅಲ್ಪ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸಿಯೇ, ನೀನು ಯಾಕೆ ಸಂದೇಹಪಟ್ಟೆ ಎಂದು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದನು.
32 ಅವರು ದೋಣಿಯೊಳಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಗಾಳಿನಿಂತು ಹೋಯಿತು.
33 ದೋಣಿಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದವರು ಆತನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಆತನನ್ನು ಆರಾಧಿಸಿ--ನಿಜವಾಗಿಯೂ ನೀನು ದೇವಕುಮಾರನೇ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
34 ಅವರು ದಾಟಿ ಗೆನೆಜರೇತ್‌ ಸೀಮೆಗೆ ಬಂದರು.
35 ಆಗ ಅಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಜನರು ಆತನ ಗುರುತು ಹಿಡಿದು ಸುತ್ತ ಮುತ್ತಲಿನ ಸೀಮೆಗೆಲ್ಲಾ ಹೇಳಿಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ರೋಗಿಗಳ ನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಆತನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತಂದರು.
36 ಅವರು ಆತನ ಉಡು ಪಿನ ಅಂಚನ್ನಾದರೂ ಮುಟ್ಟುವಂತೆ ಆತನನ್ನು ಬೇಡಿ ಕೊಂಡರು; ಮತ್ತು ಯಾರಾರು ಮುಟ್ಟಿದರೋ ಅವರು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಸ್ವಸ್ಥರಾದರು.
1 At that time Herod the tetrarch heard of the fame of Jesus,
2 And said unto his servants, This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead; and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him.
3 For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him, and put him in prison for Herodias’ sake, his brother Philip’s wife.
4 For John said unto him, It is not lawful for thee to have her.
5 And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.
6 But when Herod’s birthday was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod.
7 Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatsoever she would ask.
8 And she, being before instructed of her mother, said, Give me here John Baptist’s head in a charger.
9 And the king was sorry: nevertheless for the oath’s sake, and them which sat with him at meat, he commanded it to be given her.
10 And he sent, and beheaded John in the prison.
11 And his head was brought in a charger, and given to the damsel: and she brought it to her mother.
12 And his disciples came, and took up the body, and buried it, and went and told Jesus.
13 When Jesus heard of it, he departed thence by ship into a desert place apart: and when the people had heard thereof, they followed him on foot out of the cities.
14 And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.
15 And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals.
16 But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat.
17 And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.
18 He said, Bring them hither to me.
19 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
20 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.
21 And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.
22 And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.
23 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.
24 But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.
25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.
26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.
27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.
28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.
29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
32 And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.
33 Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.
34 And when they were gone over, they came into the land of Gennesaret.
35 And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that were diseased;
36 And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.

1 ਲੂਤ ਦੇ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਉਸ ਸ਼ਾਮ ਸਦੂਮ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੋ ਦੂਤ ਆਏ। ਲੂਤ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ੇ ਤੇ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਦੂਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਿਆ। ਲੂਤ ਨੇ ਸੋਚਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਨਗਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਲੰਘਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਆਦਮੀ ਸਨ। ਲੂਤ ਉੱਠ ਖਲੋਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਚੱਲਾ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਝੁਕ ਗਿਆ।
And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;
2 ਲੂਤ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਸ਼੍ਰੀਮਾਨ, ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਘਰ ਆਓ, ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ। ਓੱਥੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੈਰ ਧੋ ਸੱਕਦੇ ਹੋਂ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਤ ਠਹਿਰ ਸੱਕਦੇ ਹੋਂ। ਫ਼ੇਰ ਕੱਲ੍ਹ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਫ਼ਰ ਜਾਰੀ ਰੱਖ ਸੱਕਦੇ ਹੋਂ।” ਦੂਤਾਂ ਨੇ ਜਵਾਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਨਹੀਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਨਗਰ ਦੇ ਚੌਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਾਤ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰਾਂਗੇ।”
And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant’s house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night.
3 ਪਰ ਲੂਤ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਆਉਣ ਦਾ ਸੱਦਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਦੂਤ ਲੂਤ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਜਾਣ ਲਈ ਰਾਜ਼ੀ ਹੋ ਗਏ। ਉਹ ਲੂਤ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਗਏ। ਲੂਤ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਖਾਣ-ਪੀਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਲੂਤ ਨੇ ਦੂਤਾਂ ਲਈ ਰੋਟੀ ਪਕਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਭੋਜਨ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ।
And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat.
4 ਉਸ ਸ਼ਾਮ, ਸੌਣ ਵੇਲੇ ਤੋਂ ਰਤਾ ਕੁ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਜਵਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਬੁੱਢੇ ਆਦਮੀ ਨਗਰ ਦੇ ਹਰ ਭਾਗ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਲੂਤ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਆ ਗਏ। ਉਹ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਆਲੇ-ਦੁਆਲੇ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ
But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter:
5 ਅਤੇ ਲੂਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਮਾਰੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਕਿੱਥੇ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਦੋ ਬੰਦੇ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਅੱਜ ਰਾਤੀਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਘਰ ਆਏ ਸਨ? ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਬਾਹਰ ਲਿਆ। ਅਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਭੋਗ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਾਂ।”
And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.
6 ਲੂਤ ਬਾਹਰ ਗਿਆ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ਾ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him,
7 ਲੂਤ ਨੇ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਨਹੀਂ! ਦੋਸਤੋਂ, ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨੀਂ ਕਰਕੇ ਇਹ ਬਦੀ ਨਾ ਕਰਿਓ!
And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly.
8 ਦੇਖੋ, ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਦੋ ਧੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਜਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਮਰਦ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁੱਤੀਆਂ। ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਧੀਆਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੋ ਚਾਹੋਂ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਦੇ ਹੋ। ਪਰ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨੀ ਕਰਕੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਕੁਝ ਨਾ ਕਰਨਾ। ਇਹ ਆਦਮੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਘਰ ਆਏ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ।”
Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.
9 ਘਰ ਦੇ ਆਲੇ-ਦੁਆਲੇ ਖੜ੍ਹੇ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਜਵਾਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਤੂੰ ਇੱਥੇ ਆ!” ਫ਼ੇਰ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਸ ’ਚ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਇਹ ਆਦਮੀ, ਲੂਤ, ਸਾਡੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਇੱਕ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਵਜੋਂ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ। ਹੁਣ ਇਹ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਜਿਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ!” ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਲੂਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਅਸੀਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੀ ਬੁਰਾ ਸਲੂਕ ਕਰਾਂਗੇ।” ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਦਮੀ ਲੂਤ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ-ਨੇੜੇ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਗਏ। ਉਹ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ਾ ਤੋੜਨ ਹੀ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਨ।
And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door.
10 ਪਰ ਦੋ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਨ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ਾ ਖੋਲ੍ਹਕੇ, ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੱਢੇ ਅਤੇ ਲੂਤ ਨੂੰ ਘਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਖਿੱਚ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ਾ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door.
11 ਫ਼ੇਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਖੜ੍ਹੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਕੁਝ ਕੀਤਾ-ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਬਦ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ, ਜਵਾਨ ਤੇ ਬੁੱਢਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਾਖਲ ਹੋਣ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਿਆ।
And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door.
12 ਸਦੂਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਨਿਕਲਣਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਲੂਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਕੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਹੋਰ ਲੋਕ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਨਗਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਨੇ? ਕੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਜੁਆਈ, ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਧੀਆਂ ਜਾਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਹੋਰ ਲੋਕ ਇੱਥੇ ਹਨ? ਜੇ ਇਵੇਂ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਣੇ ਚੱਲੇ ਜਾਣ ਲਈ ਆਖ ਦੇਵੇਂ।
And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place:
13 ਅਸੀਂ ਇਸ ਨਗਰ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਾਂ। ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸੁਣ ਲਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਕਿੰਨਾ ਬੁਰਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸੇ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ।”
For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the Lord; and the Lord hath sent us to destroy it.
14 ਇਸ ਲਈ ਲੂਤ ਚੱਲਾ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੁਆਈਆਂ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਧੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਸ਼ਾਦੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ, ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ। ਲੂਤ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਛੇਤੀ ਕਰੋ, ਇਹ ਨਗਰ ਛੱਡ ਦਿਓ! ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਛੇਤੀ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ!” ਪਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਸੋਚਿਆ ਕਿ ਲੂਤ ਮਜ਼ਾਕ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the Lord will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.
15 ਦੂਸਰੇ ਦਿਨ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਤ ਵੇਲੇ, ਦੂਤ ਲੂਤ ਨੂੰ ਛੇਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਖ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਇਸ ਨਗਰ ਨੂੰ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਮਿਲੇਗੀ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਧੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਲ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਜਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਹਾਲੇ ਤੱਕ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਥਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦੇ। ਫ਼ੇਰ ਤੂੰ ਨਗਰ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਤਬਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਂਗਾ।”
And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.
16 ਪਰ ਲੂਤ ਝਿਝਕਿਆ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਲੂਤ ਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਧੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਫ਼ੜ ਲਏ। ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਲੂਤ ਉੱਤੇ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਸੀ, ਉਹ ਲੂਤ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਨਾਲ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਲੈ ਗਏ।
And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the Lord being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.
17 ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਬਾਹਰ ਆ ਗਏ, ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਹੁਣ ਭੱਜੋ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਾਨ ਬਚਾਓ। ਪਿੱਛੇ ਮੁੜਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਖਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਵਾਦੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਸੇ ਥਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੁਕਣਾ। ਜਦੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਪਹਾੜਾਂ ਤਾਈਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ, ਭੱਜਦੇ ਰਹੋ। ਜੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਰੁਕ ਗਏ, ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਵੀ ਨਗਰ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਤਬਾਹ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੋਂਗੇ!”
And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.
18 ਪਰ ਲੂਤ ਨੇ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਮਾਨ, ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇੰਨੀ ਤੇਜ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ ਭੱਜਣ ਲਈ ਮਜਬੂਰ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ!
And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord:
19 ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ, ਆਪਣੇ ਖਾਦਮ ਉੱਤੇ, ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਰਹੇ ਹੋਂ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਇਆ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਪਹਾੜਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਸਾਰੇ ਰਾਹ ਭੱਜ ਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸੱਕਦਾ। ਕੀ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਧੀਮੀ ਰਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਝ ਵਾਪਰ ਜਾਵੇ? ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਜਾਵਾਂਗਾ!
Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die:
20 ਦੇਖੋ, ਇੱਥੇ ਇੱਕ ਬਹੁਤ ਛੋਟਾ ਨਗਰ ਨੇੜੇ ਹੀ ਹੈ। ਜਿਉਂਦੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਲਈ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਨਗਰ ਤਾਈਂ ਭੱਜ ਜਾਣ ਦਿਓ।”
Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live.
21 ਦੂਤ ਨੇ ਲੂਤ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਠੀਕ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਇਜਾਜ਼ਤ ਦੇ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ। ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਕਸਬੇ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ।
And he said unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city, for the which thou hast spoken.
22 ਪਰ ਉੱਥੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਭੱਜ ਕੇ ਚੱਲਾ ਜਾ। ਮੈਂ ਓਨੀ ਦੇਰ ਤੱਕ ਸਦੂਮ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਦਾ ਜਿੰਨੀ ਦੇਰ ਤੱਕ ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਕਸਬੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਅਤ ਹੋਕੇ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ।” (ਉਸ ਕਸਬੇ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੋਆਰ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਛੋਟਾ ਕਸਬਾ ਹੈ।)
Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do any thing till thou be come thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.
23 ਸਦੂਮ ਤੇ ਅਮੂਰਾਹ ਦੀ ਤਬਾਹੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਲੂਤ ਸੋਆਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਾਖਲ ਹੋਇਆ ਤਾਂ ਸੂਰਜ ਹਾਲੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ।
The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar.
24 ਓਸੇ ਵੇਲੇ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਸਦੂਮ ਅਤੇ ਅਮੂਰਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰਨਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਉੱਤੋਂ ਅੱਗ ਦਾ ਮੀਂਹ ਵਰ੍ਹਾਇਆ।
Then the Lord rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven;
25 ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਵਾਦੀ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ-ਸਾਰੀ ਬਨਾਸਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ।
And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.
26 ਭੱਜੇ ਜਾਂਦਿਆਂ ਲੂਤ ਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵੱਲ ਮੁੜਕੇ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਲੂਣ ਦੀ ਸਿਲ ਬਣ ਗਈ।
But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.
27 ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਸਵੇਰੇ-ਸਵੇਰੇ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਉੱਠ ਪਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਥਾਂ ਤੇ ਗਿਆ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਉਹ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁੱਖ ਖਲੋਤਾ ਸੀ।
And Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the Lord:
28 ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਨੇ ਸਦੂਮ ਅਤੇ ਅਮੂਰਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਗਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਵਾਦੀ ਦੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਵੱਲ ਵੇਖਿਆ। ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਚੋਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰਾ ਧੂਆਂ ਨਿਕਲਦਾ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਆਇਆ। ਇਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਭਠੀ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਨਿਕਲਦੇ ਧੂੰਏਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਦਿਖਾਈ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ।
And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace.
29 ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਵਾਦੀ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕੀਤਾ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਅਬਰਾਹਾਮ ਦੇ ਭਤੀਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਲੂਤ ਵਾਦੀ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ। ਪਰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਲੂਤ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਭੇਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ।
And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in the which Lot dwelt.
30 ਲੂਤ ਤੇ ਉਸਦੀਆਂ ਧੀਆਂ ਲੂਤ ਸੋਆਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਤੋਂ ਡਰਦਾ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਧੀਆਂ ਪਹਾੜਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਲਈ ਚਲੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ। ਉਹ ਉੱਥੇ ਇੱਕ ਗੁਫ਼ਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿਣ ਲੱਗੇ।
And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.
31 ਇੱਕ ਦਿਨ, ਵੱਡੀ ਧੀ ਨੇ ਛੋਟੀ ਧੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਸਾਡਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਬੁੱਢਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਜੋ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਬੱਚੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਸੱਕੇ।
And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth:
32 ਇਸ ਲਈ ਆ, ਆਪਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਅ ਨਾਲ ਮਦਹੋਸ਼ ਕਰ ਦੇਈਏ। ਫ਼ੇਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਸਨੀ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਬਣਾ ਸੱਕਾਂਗੀਆਂ। ਇਸ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ, ਆਪਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਵੰਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾ ਸੱਕਦੀਆਂ ਹਾਂ!”
Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.
33 ਉਸ ਰਾਤ ਦੋਵੇ ਕੁੜੀਆਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਕੋਲ ਗਈਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਰਾਬੀ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਫ਼ੇਰ ਵੱਡੀ ਕੁੜੀ ਪਿਤਾ ਦੇ ਬਿਸਤਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਭੋਗ ਕੀਤਾ। ਲੂਤ ਇੰਨਾ ਸ਼ਰਾਬੀ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਕੱਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਬਿਸਤਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਈ ਅਤੇ ਕਦੋਂ ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਚਲੀ ਗਈ।
And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.
34 ਅਗਲੇ ਦਿਨ, ਵੱਡੀ ਧੀ ਨੇ ਛੋਟੀ ਧੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਪਿੱਛਲੀ ਰਾਤ, ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਸੁੱਤੀ ਸੀ। ਆ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਤੋਂ, ਅੱਜ ਰਾਤ ਸ਼ਰਾਬੀ ਕਰ ਦੇਈਏ। ਫ਼ੇਰ ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਸੌਂ ਜਾਵੀਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਜਿਨਸੀ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਬਣਾਵੀਂ। ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ, ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਬੱਚੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਾਂਗੀਆਂ।”
And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.
35 ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਰਾਤ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਕੁੜੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਰਾਬੀ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਫ਼ਿਰ ਛੋਟੀ ਕੁੜੀ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਸੁੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਭੋਗ ਕੀਤਾ। ਇੱਕ ਵਾਰ ਫ਼ੇਰ, ਲੂਤ ਇੰਨਾ ਸ਼ਰਾਬੀ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਲ ਸੱਕਿਆ ਕਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਬਿਸਤਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਈ ਅਤੇ ਕਦੋਂ ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਚਲੀ ਗਈ।
And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.
36 ਲੂਤ ਦੀਆਂ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਧੀਆਂ ਗਰਭਵਤੀ ਹੋ ਗਈਆਂ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਉਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੀ।
Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.
37 ਵੱਡੀ ਧੀ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਨਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਸਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੋਆਬ ਰੱਖਿਆ। ਮੋਆਬ ਸਾਰੇ ਅਜੋਕੇ ਮੋਆਬੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਹੈ।
And the firstborn bare a son, and called his name Moab: the same is the father of the Moabites unto this day.
38 ਛੋਟੀ ਧੀ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਇੱਕ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਜਨਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਸਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨ-ਅੰਮੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ। ਬਿਨ-ਅੰਮੀ ਅਜੋਕੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਅੰਮੋਨੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਿਤਾ ਹੈ।
And the younger, she also bare a son, and called his name Ben-ammi: the same is the father of the children of Ammon unto this day.
