ಕೀರ್ತನೆಗಳು 127

1 ಕರ್ತನು ಮನೆಯನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟದಿದ್ದರೆ, ಅದನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟುವವರು ವ್ಯರ್ಥವಾಗಿ ಕಷ್ಟಪಡುತ್ತಾರೆ; ಕರ್ತನು ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಕಾಪಾಡದೆ ಇದ್ದರೆ ಅದನ್ನು ಕಾಪಾಡುವವನು ವ್ಯರ್ಥವಾಗಿ ಎಚ್ಚರ ವಾಗಿರುತ್ತಾನೆ.

2 ರೊಟ್ಟಿಗಾಗಿ ವ್ಯಥೆಪಟ್ಟು ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಬೇಗ ಏಳುವದೂ ರಾತ್ರಿ ತಡವಾಗಿ ಮಲಗುವದೂ ವ್ಯರ್ಥವೇ. ಆತನು ತನ್ನ ಪ್ರಿಯರಿಗೆ ನಿದ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಅದನ್ನು ಕೊಡುತ್ತಾನೆ.

3 ಇಗೋ, ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಕರ್ತನಿಂದ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿದ ಸ್ವಾಸ್ಥ್ಯವಾಗಿ ದ್ದಾರೆ; ಗರ್ಭಫಲವು ಆತನ ಬಹುಮಾನವಾಗಿದೆ.

4 ಯೌವನದ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಯ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಾಣಗಳು ಹೇಗೋ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ.

5 ತನ್ನ ಬತ್ತಳಿಕೆ ಯನ್ನು ಅವರಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿಸಿದ ಪುರುಷನು ಧನ್ಯನು; ಶತ್ರುಗಳ ಸಂಗಡ ಬಾಗಲಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡುವಾಗ ಅವರು ನಾಚಿಕೆಪಡರು.

2 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

3 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

4 Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

5 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.

6 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
