ಆದರೆ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಯೆರಿಕೋವಿಗೂ ಆಯಿಗೂ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದನ್ನು ಗಿಬ್ಯೋನಿನ ನಿವಾಸಿಗಳು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ

ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಪ್ರಯಾಣ ಮಾಡು ವಾಗ ಮೂರನೇ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಗಿಬ್ಯೋನ್, ಕೆಫೀರಾ, ಬೇರೋತ್, ಕಿರ್ಯತ್ಯಾರೀಮ್ ಎಂಬ ಅವರ ಪಟ್ಟಣ ಗಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದರು.

ದಾವೀದನ ದಿವಸಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವರುಷದಿಂದ ವರುಷಕ್ಕೆ ಮೂರು ವರುಷ ಬರ ಉಂಟಾ ಗಿತ್ತು. ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ಕರ್ತನನ್ನು ವಿಚಾರಿಸಿದನು. ಕರ್ತನು--ಸೌಲನು ಗಿಬ್ಯೋನ್ಯರನ್ನು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿ ದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವನಿಗೋಸ್ಕರವೂ ರಕ್ತಾಪರಾಧವುಳ್ಳ ಅವನ ಮನೆಗೋಸ್ಕರವೂ ಇದಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.

ಆಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ನಿಮಿತ್ತವಾಗಿ ಒಬ್ಬರೂ ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಾರದ ಹಾಗೆಯೂ ಒಳಗೆ ಹೋಗದ ಹಾಗೆಯೂ ಯೆರಿಕೋವು ಭದ್ರ ವಾಗಿ ಮುಚ್ಚಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿತು.
ಯೆಹೋಶುವ 8:1
ಆಗ ಕರ್ತನು ಯೆಹೋಶುವನಿಗೆ--ಭಯಪಡಬೇಡ, ನಿರುತ್ಸಾಹಗೊಳ್ಳಬೇಡ. ನೀನು ಸಮಸ್ತ ಯುದ್ಧಸ್ಥರಾದ ಜನರನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಎದ್ದು ಆಯಿಗೆ ಏರಿ ಹೋಗು. ನೋಡು, ನಾನು ಆಯಿಯ ಅರಸನನ್ನೂ ಅವನ ಜನವನ್ನೂ ಪಟ್ಟಣ ವನ್ನೂ ಸೀಮೆಯನ್ನೂ ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇನೆ.
