ಆದರೆ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಪಾಳತಿ ನೋಡುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿದ್ದ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಮನುಷ್ಯರಿಗೆ-- ನೀವು ಸೂಳೆಯಾದ ಹೆಂಗಸಿನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅವಳನ್ನೂ ಅವಳಿಗೆ ಉಂಟಾದ ಸಮಸ್ತವನ್ನೂ ಅವಳಿಗೆ ಆಣೆ ಇಟ್ಟ ಹಾಗೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಹೊರಗೆ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಬನ್ನಿರಿ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.

ಅವನು ಪ್ರಮಾಣವನ್ನು ತಿರಸ್ಕರಿಸಿ ಕೈಕೊಟ್ಟಾಗ್ಯೂ; ಇಗೋ, ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ವಿಾರಿ ಇವುಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದ ರಿಂದ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವದಿಲ್ಲ.

ನಿಶ್ಚ ಯವಾಗಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಅರಸುತನವನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟ ಅರಸನೂ ಅಂದರೆ ಯಾವನ ಪ್ರಮಾಣವನ್ನು ತಿರಸ್ಕರಿಸಿದನೋ ಯಾವನ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ವಿಾರಿದನೋ ಅವನು ಇರುವಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಬಾಬೆಲಿನ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ಜೀವದಾಣೆ, ಇವನು ಸಾಯುವನು ಎಂದು ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ.

ಅರಸನ ಸಂತಾನ ದವರನ್ನು ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆ ಮಾಡಿ ಅವನಿಂದ ಪ್ರಮಾಣಮಾಡಿಸಿ ದೇಶದ ಬಲಿಷ್ಠರನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ.

ಆಗ ಅರಸನು ಗಿಬ್ಯೋನ್ಯರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು. (ಆದರೆ ಗಿಬ್ಯೋನ್ಯರು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಮಕ್ಕಳಾಗಿರದೆ ಅಮೋರಿಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಉಳಿದವರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರಿಗೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಆಣೆ ಇಟ್ಟಿದ್ದರು. ಸೌಲನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೋಸ್ಕರವಾಗಿಯೂ ಯೆಹೂದ ಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರವಾಗಿಯೂ ತೋರಿಸಿದ ಆಸಕ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಅವ ರನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆಯಲು ಹುಡುಕಿದ್ದನು)
ಯೆಹೋಶುವ 9:18
ಸಭೆಯ ಪ್ರಧಾನರು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನ ಮೇಲೆ ಆಣೆ ಇಟ್ಟದ್ದರಿಂದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಅವರನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೆ ಸಭೆಯವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇ ಲ್ಯರ ಪ್ರಧಾನರಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಗುಣುಗುಟ್ಟಿದರು.

ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಅವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಸಮಾಧಾನ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಅವರನ್ನು ಜೀವದಿಂದ ಇರಿಸುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆ ಮಾಡಿದನು. ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಸಭೆಯ ಪ್ರಧಾನರು ಪ್ರಮಾಣಮಾಡಿದರು.

ನೂನನ ಮಗನಾದ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಪಾಳತಿ ನೋಡುವವರಾದ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಮನುಷ್ಯರನ್ನು ಶಿಟ್ಟೀಮಿನಿಂದ ಗುಪ್ತ ಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ--ನೀವು ಹೋಗಿ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಯೆರಿಕೋವನ್ನು ನೋಡಿರಿ ಅಂದನು. ಅವರು ಹೋಗಿ ರಾಹಾಬಳೆಂಬ ಹೆಸರುಳ್ಳ ಒಬ್ಬ ಸೂಳೆಯ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇಳಿದುಕೊಂಡರು.
