ಅವನು ಆ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಮಸ್ಸಾ ಮೆರಿಬಾ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟನು. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ವಿವಾದ ಮಾಡಿದರು.-- ಕರ್ತನು ನಮ್ಮ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದಾನೋ ಇಲ್ಲವೋ ಎಂದು ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿದರು.

ಯಾಜಕ ನಾಗಿರುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾಜಾರನ ಕುಮಾರನಾದ ಫೀನೆಹಾಸನು ರೂಬೇನನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೂ ಗಾದನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೂ ಮನಸ್ಸೆಯ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೂ--ನೀವು ಕರ್ತನಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಈ ಅಪರಾಧವನ್ನು ಮಾಡದೆ ಇರುವದರಿಂದ ಕರ್ತನು ನಮ್ಮ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದಾನೆಂದು ಇಂದು ಅರಿತಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಈಗ ನೀವು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಕರ್ತನ ಕೈಗೆ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿದ್ದೀ ಅಂದನು.
ಧರ್ಮೋಪದೇಶಕಾಂಡ 31:17
ಆ ದಿವಸದಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ಕೋಪವು ಅವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಉರಿಯು ವದು. ನಾನು ಅವರನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟುಬಿಟ್ಟು ನನ್ನ ಮುಖವನ್ನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಮರೆಮಾಡುವೆನು; (ವಿರೋಧಿಗಳು) ಅವ ರನ್ನು ನುಂಗಿ ಬಿಡುವರು; ಬಹಳ ಕೇಡುಗಳೂ ಇಕ್ಕಟ್ಟು ಗಳೂ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಸಂಭವಿಸುವವು; ಆ ದಿವಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು--ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರು ನಮ್ಮ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಲ್ಲದ ಕಾರಣ ಈ ಕೇಡುಗಳು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದವಲ್ಲಾ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುವರು.
ವಿಮೋಚನಕಾಂಡ 34:9
ಅವನು--ಈಗ ನಿನ್ನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನನಗೆ ದಯೆ ದೊರಕಿದ್ದಾದರೆ ಓ ಕರ್ತನೇ, ನನ್ನ ಕರ್ತನು ನಮ್ಮ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರಲಿ ಅದು ಬಗ್ಗದ ಕುತ್ತಿಗೆಯುಳ್ಳ ಜನಾಂಗವೇ ಹೌದು. ಆದಾಗ್ಯೂ ನಮ್ಮ ದೋಷವನ್ನೂ ಪಾಪವನ್ನೂ ಮನ್ನಿಸಿ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಸ್ವಾಸ್ಥ್ಯವಾಗಿ ತೆಗೆದುಕೋ ಅಂದನು.
